Dammam: Ihsan Education Mission launched to mark DKSC’s Community Meet-2014

Dammam, May 5: The participation of two prominent ministers elected representatives turned the launching ceremony of Ihsan Education Mission and Community Meet-2014 organized by Dammam chapter of Dakhshina Kannada Sunni Centre (DKSC) to be a memorable and meaningful event.

Addressing the gathering Dakshina Kannada district in charge minister B Ramanath Rai said that Muslim organisations should follow Quran and Sunnah that have given utmost priority to education.

He lauded the efforts of DKSC in the field of education and promoting awareness about the female education.

Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khader said NRIs are contributing for the development of their country in different ways. Wishing all the success for DKSC, he said that the philanthropic works carried out by such organisations not only help a particular community but also help the nation.

Delivering the inaugural address, Musthafa Saadi recalled the memorable moments from the history of Al-Ihsan, which has entered 20th years of service. Established under the leadership of Hasanul Faizi in 1995, the institution marched towards success under the leadership of Syed Atekoya Thangal. Currently a dars, a school for orphans and a women’s college is run by Al-Ihsan, he said. Approximately 1200 students are studying under Al-Ihsan, he added.

Former union minister C M Ibrahim gave a pep talk for the audience.

Diya Al Sulaibi, from Royal Commission in Juabil, spoke about the significance of Zakath in Islam.

Organized at Umar Auditorium in Dammam on May 1, the programme formally commenced at 7:00 p.m. with the recitation of a few Quranic verses by  Master Adnan Abdul Hameed followed by the translation by Kamaruddin.

Abbas Uchil delivered welcome speech and invited guests to the stage.  He also read out the messages sent by Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah and Education Minister Rahman Khan, who were supposed to participate in the event.

Entrepreneurs Asif Amaco, Zakariya Muzain, Salam were present among others.  The event concluded with a Dua by Hazrath Fazil Ravi Kavalkatte.

Kuwait: State of Karnataka is enriched with Daasa culture, which had contributed immensely to its literature, culture, art & philosophy. Daasa tradition in Karnataka was part of the Bhakti movement which flourished from around 15th century and it extended considerable spiritual influence over the masses. Kuwait Kannada Koota, a socio-cultural association for the people of Karnataka in Kuwait, organized its annual Daasotsava on 14th February 2020 in remembrance of these saints, thereby displaying the rich cultural heritage of the state. 

The program started with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath, convener of cultural committee. Divine invocation prayer by Mrs. Vasantha Ashok and Mrs. Sandhya Arun set the trend for the event. This was followed by lighting of the traditional lamp by the 2020 executive committee, comprising of President Mr. Rajesh Vittal, Vice President Mr. Sandeep Chabba, General Secretary Mr. Praveen Kumar Shetty and Treasurer Mr. Pradeep Rao. President, while welcoming the gathering, spoke about the importance of Daasas in Kannada literature & history and briefed about the series of upcoming programs. Cultural programs started with fancy dress competition by Koota children comprising of all age group starting from infants to elder kids. This program stole the show as the efforts & time invested by children and their parents were clearly visible. 

2019 executive committee was felicitated by the current committee for wonderfully managing Koota affairs & programs. This was followed by the release of Koota magazine “Marala Mallige", comprising of informative articles, drawings, poems etc., entirely contributed by the association members. Event’s main attraction “Vrindavana Leelavarana", a colorful dance drama spectacularly portrayed by 54 Koota children, was very well appreciated & received by the attendees. Association children who successfully completed 10th and 12th were felicitated as a token of encouragement. Executive committee gave away prizes to Kids who excelled in the stage competitions held earlier. Audience was treated to a divine and melodious Bhajan program conducted astutely by the ladies & men. Koota women performed Bhajan Kolata, along with ladies bhajan, in a well-coordinated manner. Vote of thanks was proposed by the secretary of Koota, thanking those who contributed for the success of the event. Another attraction was a quiz competition “Rasa Prashne", conducted efficiently between the programs, by Mr. Mahesh Shiramgond. 

The whole event was planned and executed astutely by the cultural committee under the leadership of Convener, Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath. Public Relations Committee, led by Mrs. Suparna Dambal, welcomed the members in a vibrant & colorful way, showcasing a beautifully erected divine mantap. The event was sponsored by Unimoni, LIC HFL, VSPL, Geetherb, Kotak Life Insurance, Joy Alukkas, Lulu Hypermarket & Total Environment. The program ended with a sumptuous satvik lunch, sponsored by the senior Koota member, Mr. Ramachandran Seetharaman.

Dubai, Aug 7: ‘Nama Tuluve’ Purushotham Salian, a staunch stalwart who always supported humanity and a strong pillar for Tuluvas in Dubai, passed away August, 4 at Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain. He was suffering from cancer and was admitted to Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain some time ago. He was on the last stage of illness which was not detected earlier.

His funeral last rites were conducted on Thursday August 7 at Jebel Ali cemetery in Hindu rites with a few of his family members present. Due to Covid pandemic, neither his body was able to be flown back to hometown nor could his two children come down to attend the funeral. However, it was said that his wish was to be cremated here in Dubai which unknowingly sometime back he whispered to one of his friends.

Purushotham had few years ago, survived a heart attack and fought back his life, though it had a minor paralytic effect on him. Even though, till recently he used to do his day-to-day work normally. He was a hard working personality and owned a readymade garment shop in Ajman and Dubai mostly taking care of clients with requirement of uniforms and coveralls. His dedication towards work was always appreciated by his clients who used to get their things delivered on time always.

He was never a publicity person and was helping the poor and needy in whatever ways he could silently. He strongly supported the community and was associated with Nama Tuluveru and Billawa community with commitment. He used to voluntarily come forward for the ground work of various functions of the community and used to be there until it was done perfectly.
