Dammam: ‘JF Coastal Festival 2017’ creates a carnival for expat families

Dammam: The Jam’iyyatul Falah organized a family-get-together under the banner of “JF Coastal Festival 2017” on 6th April 2017 at the Al-Zaana Ishtirah at Faisaliyah in Dammam, eastern province of Saudi Arabia. The event’s motto “Our Community is Better Together” had created the atmosphere of a family carnival.

The event began with the recitation of Holy Quran, followed by welcome speech from JF Dammam Unit President and the event Chairman opened the gathering which boosted the energy and enthusiasm of all the participants and volunteers of the event.

Later in the evening, lots of games conducted by event sports coordinators had placed everyone on their toes with their remarkable talents, wit and humor. As the joyful evening proceeded games for all age groups witnessed active participation and great excitement from all the attendees at the venue. EXCOM and volunteers ensured that the events carried on seamlessly.

An abundant supply of snacks and drinks were great energizers throughout the evening. While the children competed in sack race and many other games, the parents too were just as much into cheering and encouraging all the children. Boys, Girls and Adults too had their share of fun reliving old days with sack race, tug-of-wars and more.

The chief guests of the evening – Amjad Wajid (MD of UIPS), Sudeer (MD of Idealink), Amir Musthaq (Finance Manager of UNICOIL), Khalid Al-Ghamdi (Marketing Head of GCS), Mohammad Muzaffer (Finance Manager of Azmeel), Abdul Hakkeem (Regional Manager of Al-Kabeer Food), Sadashiv Poojary (President of MASA) and Abdul Waris (Chairman of IISD) – has expressed their delight to be a part of the event wherein people from the coastal belt of Karnataka State had gathered and united as a family.

The Kiosk from different FMCG companies such as INDOMINE, AL-KABEER, NADA JUICE, SWITZ CAKES and ORLANDA MILK had offered lip-smacking food and beverages which attracted and pulled the crowd with their appetizing aroma to taste the sample of their new products. The most attractive Kiosk of the evening was the DANDY Ice Cream, which served different types of flavors and kept the crowd on their toes specially children. The traditional Indian sweet ‘Jalibee’ has engrossed the crowd throughout the evening. The delicious sumptuous dinner with varieties of Indian cuisine from Golden Spoon Restaurant had served to delight all the guests throughout the evening.

Ensuring that the members remain active for the entire day, the Quiz Master conducted quiz for adults with interesting questions related to Islamic, GK, History, Geography and Sports with exciting raffle-draw prizes was announced from time-to-time. Housie housie had captivated the crowd. All the committee members worked with joy and fun as a team throughout the evening. In the long run, the event of “JF Coastal Festival 2017” was beautifully organized and the audience was overwhelmed whole evening.

Toward the end of the evening, the winners of Qirath competition and all other games were presented the exciting prizes and the announcement of the Mega Prize winner marked the event closing.

The grand event of “JF Coastal Festival 2017” was exclusively sponsored by NADA (Al-Othman Agri. Production and Processing Co.), Gulf Cooperation Symbols Co., Saudi Pan Gulf, Saleh & Abdulaziz Abahsain Co. and many others.

Vote of thanks was extended to all the committee members, sponsors, families, friends and well-wishers who made the evening a very good celebration with never ending memories.

Kuwait: Friday Forum Kuwait conducted its 12th inter-school Islamic Elocution Competition at Hotel Rajadhani Palace, Khaitan on 1st January 2020. 

The competition, which was held in the senior and junior categories had participation from 15 Indian Schools across Kuwait comprising of 43 students. In the senior category, Ayisha Wafiya of Indian Community School, Khaitan bagged the first prize and Efrem Joseph of Indian Community School, Amman won the second prize. 

In the junior category, Hima Jameela of Indian Community School, Khaitan bagged the first prize and Fadhel Kandapath of Fahaheel Al Wataniya Indian School won the second prize. Nawaal Yaseen Ebrahim of Indian Community School (SR), Salmiya and Rhruthunanda of Indian Learners Own Academy, Abbasiya won the consolation prizes in senior and junior categories respectively.

This year, the event was fully conducted by the ladies wing of Friday Forum. Dr. Thasneem Amir, Ibtisam Basheer, Toast Masters Ola Rasheed, Fatma Abduhedeid, Shazia Thabassum and Marium Rangat were the judges for the competition in senior and junior categories. The event started with the Qira’at by Saneera Riyas, followed by welcome speech by Dr. Sajna Mohammed. 

The prizes were distributed to winners by Shahina Mansoor, Femitha Faseeh, Dr.Thasneem Amir, Dr. Sajna Mohammed, Zeenath Yacoub, Safna Sayam and Saneera Riyas. The Souvenir for the program - “INSPERIA 2020”- was released during the event by the chief editor Farha Abdul Rahman. The program was compered by Thanveera Noushad and the program convenor Subeana Shabeer conveyed the vote of thanks.

Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) Chaiman Dr Sam Pitroda held video conference with senior IOC office bearers across Middle Eastern countries on 14th April 2020 to review the impact of COVID-19 pandemic among Indians residing in the region. Almost all speakers appreciated the efforts initiated and  implemented by  respective governments to contain spread of the deadly virus as well as measures taken towards welfare of the people affected by the lockdown. 

IOC Presidents, Mohammed Mansour - Bahrain, Abdullah Manjeri - Saudi Arabia, Dr J Ratan kunar - Oman and Girish kumar - Qatar, highlighted the quality treatment of patients and finacial aid provided by governments and other authorities. Bahrain IOC president Mansour , also  apprised about the 'Food for Needy' drive in Association with KHK Heroes foundation, initiated by HH Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and quality treatments as well as financial aid to local and expat residents.

Anura Mathai, IOC  Global Event Coordinator, spoke about certain problems of Indians in the UAE. IOC Middle East Convener, Mansoor Palloor, emphasised and requested IOC Chairman to urge Indian government to arrange immediate repatriation of indians stranded in Gulf countries. AICC Secretary, Himanshu Vyas, IOC Secretary Dr Arathi Krishna, Dr Arshi Malik (Abha), Mohiuddin Sirajudeen (Jeddah), Advocate Joseph Palathara (Dammam) Prasad Kodru, Jayati Maitra Ziyad Ahmed (Qatar) and Khursheed Alam (Gen Secretary- Bahrain) also apprised the participants about various issues relevant to the pandemic and suggested further initiatives to be undertaken. 

Dr Sam Pitroda briefed about sustained and consolidated efforts by all IOC members  during this unprecedented situation facing the world and assured that he would convey IOC  concerns to the government and try his best to ensure all possible help is made available to all needy Indians.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.
