Deve Gowda visits Kateel Durga' and Ullal Darga'

Mangaluru, Oct 15: Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda on Saturday visited two famous pilgrimage sites managed by Muslims and Hindus in Dakshina Kannada district and offered special prayers.

The Janata Dal (Secular) supremo, who arrived in the city in the morning, visited Shri Durga Parameshwari temple in Kateel and paid obeisance to the deity.

He was welcomed priests Anantha Asranna, Venkatramana Asranna, Harinarayanadas Asranna and others.

Later he also paid a visit to Ullal and offered special prayers at Hazrat Sayyid Shareeful Madani Darga.

Ullal Juma Masjid and Sayyid Madani Darga committee president Abdul Rasheed Haji among others welcomed the former PM.

Interestingly, industrialist B M Farooq, who had contested recent Rajya Sabha polls through JD(S), accompanied Mr Gowda to both the holy places.

It's worth mentioning here that Mr Gowda had promised a prominent post in the party after the Rajya Sabha poll debacle.

Bengaluru, Jun 30: The judicial, non-judicial and administrative functions of the Karnataka High Court has been suspended for Tuesday, for sanitisation of the entire court complex due to "unavoidable circumstances".

The High Court in a notice informed about the decision on Monday.

"It is hereby notified to the litigant public/learned advocates/party-in-person/officers and staff of the High Court of Karnataka, Principal Bench, Bengaluru that, the judicial/non-judicial/administrative functions of the High Court is hereby suspended for one day -- on June 30, 2020, for sanitisation of entire High Court complex, due to unavoidable circumstances," the notice read.

Mangaluru, Feb 7: To stop the NRC and CAA from being implemented everyone has to fight unitedly highlighting the failures of the ruling party, said National President of Priyadarshini squad, All India National Women’s Congress Kavya Narasimha Murthy.

Addressing the workshop for the protection of Citizenship against CAA, NRC and NPR for the party workers at the Cordel Hall, Kulshekar here Thursday by district Congress party, she said, “Protests are being held everywhere against the CAA, NRC and NPR but if we only go on protesting, the ruling party will implementing divisive policies and new laws every day.

Many think that they may not be affected by the CAA, NRC or NPR and keep away from protesting against it. The congress should fight against the CAA concentrating on three approaches. We cannot fight against divisive politics by fighting only against the CAA and NRC. We need to expose the government’s failures, their divisive politics and continue our protests against the CAA, NCR and NPR.”

Mangaluru, May 26: Days after the government of India approved the use of chartered flights for the repatriation of Indians stranded across the world amidst covid-19 lockdown, two NRI entrepreneurs in Saudi Arabia have offer to bear the cost of repatriation if they get formal green signal to repatriate stranded Indians from Dammam to Mangaluru International Airport before June 5.

Althaf Ullal and Basheer Sagar, the two Kannadiga Directors of Al Khobar-based Saqco, have made this offer in a letter written to Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

The duo have assured that their company will bear the cost of the first chartered flight from Dammam to Mangaluru if the government paves way for its operation by June 5. 

It is learnt that many private airliners have come forward to operate chartered flight and are waiting for final clearance from the government. It will cost approximately Rs 45 lakh to hire chartered flight with 180 capacity from Dammam to Mangaluru. 

Pregnant women, medical emergency cases, senior citizens on visit visas, those who lost jobs due to lockdown among other stranded Indians will be given priority in this flight, they said.

"Our company will completely bear this cost. Passengers only need to bear the cost of institutional quarantine after reaching Mangaluru," they have clarified.

i am stuck in saudi arabia and waiting eagerly to reach karnataka as early as possible. I missed my sisters marriage this month 24th, and my marriage is on june 14th.... i have some health issue also... really want to go back as soon as possible. Please help me
