New Delhi, Nov 26: Stating that he doesn't have the majority anymore after Ajit Pawar's resignation, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today said he will also resign. "I will also resign. After this I'll go to Raj Bhavan and tender my resignation. I wish them all the best whoever will form the govt. But that will be a very unstable govt as there is huge difference of opinions," Fadnavis told reporters in Mumbai.
Fadnavis said the party doesn't have the numbers and will not indulge in horse trading.
"In elections clear majority was given to 'Mahayuti' and BJP got maximum 105 seats. We contested with Shiv Sena, but this mandate was for BJP because BJP won 70 percent seats out of all seats we contested," he said.
The BJP leader claimed that the Shiv Sena told them before election, that they will go with anyone which gives them the CM post.
Fadnavis said, "I doubt that this three-wheeler govt will be stable but BJP will work as an effective opposition and try to raise the voice of people."
After the Supreme Court ordered floor test in the Maharashtra Assembly tomorrow, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar put in his papers today. Both Fadnavis and Pawar were sworn-in as the CM and deputy chief minister, respectively, of the state on Saturday morning.
Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said. "Ajit dada has resigned and he is with us. Uddhav Thackeray will be the chief Minister of Maharashtra for five years," Raut said.
Earlier in the day, the apex court said the Fadnavis government has to prove his majority in the House as there is "possibility of horse trading" in case of delay.
In the 288-member assembly, the BJP had won 105 seats, followed by Shiv Sena 56, NCP 54 and Congress 44.
