Doha Motors lift IBQ Masters trophy

Doha: In the 11th IBQ Masters Cricket Tournament-2016, Doha Motors had their maiden championship victory when they defeated Engineering Supplies by 9 wickets.

At the prize distribution ceremony Mr. Bacchu Nazareth, Manager Electronic Banking and Mr.Cedric, Assistant Relationship Manager Financial Institutions of IBQ were the chief guests.

A 1 minute silence was observed as a mark of respect for the Late Mr. Mohammed Nawas who passed away in Sri Lanka. Mr. Mohammed Nawas was the Head of Umpiring Panel of the Qatar Cricket Association.

Engineering Supplies winning the toss elected to bat. However excellent bowling by Doha Motors restricted them to 50 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the first 10 overs. Finally they were all out for 88 runs only in 19.5 overs.

Ansar batted well to score 21 runs including a six and was caught by Anuraj off Nilesh. Sanaf remained 18 runs not out including a boundary. Namsheed was the only other batsman to reach double figures 10 runs.

Munib claimed 3 wickets, while Nilesh and Shameem took 2 wickets each, Jaber, Siva and Akram claimed a wicket each.

In reply Doha Motors batsmen batted cautiously, most of them retiring after the mandatory 12 balls. However Shameem 21 runs not out with 2 sixes, Nilesh 17 runs not out with a boundary and Munib 16 runs not out with a boundary ensured their team easily reach 89 runs losing only 2 wickets in 15 overs. Sajeesh and Shajeer claimed a wicket each.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by supporters and well-wishers. Over 300 prizes were given away to various players in the tournament. The event ended with complimentary refreshments and a lucky draw for spectators.

Manama: Kannada Sangha Bahrain President Mr. Pradeep Shetty and Vice President of Bahrain's prestigious KHK HEROES Foundation Mohammed Mansoor on Monday, May 11, met The Second Secretary (Consular & CW) of the Embassy of India, Bahrain Mr. P. K. Chowdhury in the Indian Embassy. 

The situation, problems and relief of Indians and Kannadigas residing in Bahrain during the COVID 19 Pandemic was discussed in detail. The distribution of food (dry ration) kits, as well as those seeking repatriation, was also discussed in the meeting.

When asked about the repatriation of distressed Kannadigas, the Second Secretary said that though the number of Kannadigas who wish to return home is not much compared to the rest of the states, still Embassy is compiling all the information and will do the needful soon. 

Mr. Shetty and Mr. Mansoor told the Second Secretary that those who are in problem can contact them and they are ready to do their best.

Riyadh, Feb 24: Indian Islahi Center, Riyadh (IICR) kicked off the propagation campaign of "Learn the Quran" national conference, which is slated to be held on March 27, 2020 at Nofa Istiraha, Exit 18, Riyadh, Kingdom Saudi Arabia. It's IICR's 20th successful program.

Kerala Legislative Assembly's opposition leader & Congress leader, Ramesh Chennitthala inaugurated the campaign that was held at Voco Hotel in Riyadh, capital city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Ramesh was on two days visit in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The objective of the campaign is to instil the keenness & to keep creating the continuous awareness amongst the community on Quran. It also enables to recite the Quran with Tajweed (science of reading the Quran) & correct form.

Aboobakker Edthanatukkara (President of IICR), Abdul Qayyum Bustani, Kunhi Kumbala, Abdullah Vallanchira, Adv. Abdul Jaleel, Naushad Ali Kozhikode, Mujeeb Ali Thodigappulam, Muhammad Kutty Kadannamanna, Fasal Rahman City Flower, Mujeeb Irumbuzhi, Jaleel Alappuzha, Arafat & others were present on the occasion.

Mangaluru, May 22: An elderly cardiac patient from Dakshina Kannada, who was stranded in Saudi Arabia due to covid-19 lock-down, has finally reached his homeland thanks to the timely intervention by Humanity Forum Jubail and Indian Social Forum.

The elderly man hailing from Kadaba area of Dakshina Kannada was admitted to a hospital in Madinah. However, his condition continued to worsen due to lack of proper treatment. The efforts by his family members to bring him back home had not yielded results.

Meanwhile, one of the relatives of the patient, Ansari Suratkal, who happens to be a DKSC activist, brought the issue to the notice of the Karnataka unit of the Indian Social Forum in Dammam. ISF contacted Humanity Forum president Zakariya Jokatte, who helped the patient to speak directly union minister D V Sadananda Gowda in a video conference organised by coastaldigest.com.

Humanity Forum also persuaded the Indian Embassy to allow the stranded cardiac patient to fly back to India through Dammam-Bengaluru repatriation flight on May 20. 

However, it was not easy for the patient to travel from Madinah to Dammam International Airport due to lock-down and curfew. ISF not only obtained travel permission for him but also arranged vehicle. Jeddah and Riyadh units of ISF helped in obtaining permission letter in their respective places in spite of travel ban imposed by the police. Madinah unit of ISF arranged vehicle for transportation. Zakariya Jokatte bore the air ticket and other expenses of the patient.
