Dr B K Yusuf re-elected president of Bearys Cultural Forum

Dubai: Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF) Trust conducted its general body meeting at the Bangalore Restaurant Banquet Hall in Dubai, UAE. The BCF has entered into the 16th year of operations in the United Arab Emirates and India.

Mr. Ashraf Satikal did Quran recitation. Dr. Kaup started the AGM and said that the AGM will be presided over by Dr. B.K. Yusuf, the President of BCF. Dr. B.K. Yusuf has expressed his gratitude to all BCF committee members for their relentless support and unity in carrying out the charitable activities. .By referring to Islamic teachings, he elaborated that Allah has given the promise in the holy Quran that any good deeds by the human being will be surely rewarded and hence Allah will reward us all for whatever BCF has contributed for the betterment of the society. He also mentioned about the future plans of BCF in line with its plan to establish a BCF Educational Institution in Mangalore. He recalled all the pleasant moments spent in BCF and quoted the famous lines of famous Kannada poet Kuvempu –“kaleda hindina dinagalanu nenedindu belaguva dinagala” (let us enlighten our coming days with the sweet memories of bygone days)..

Mr. Ashraf Satikal, the Chairman of the AGM committee also welcomed every one for the AGM and also thanked all the audience and the members who have attended this AGM. He also mentioned all the members to elect good and efficient committee for the year 2017- 18.

Mr. M.E. Moolur, the Vice President thanked Allah for bestowing a great platform of social service like BCF and granting opportunity to dedicate a fraction of Life and Resources for the betterment of society through BCF. Quoting verses from Quran, told that Islam and Humanity are like 2 sides of the same coin. One cannot be complete Muslim unless he becomes a loving and compassionate human being. Quoting a famous Kannada Poet, he mentioned that, living with concerns about others is more meaningful than living self centered. He gave a brief introduction of BCF and all the charitable activities it carried in the last 2 years.

Mr. Latif Mulky, the Vice President of BCF said that, BCF has completed more than 16 years, it is a good achievement for all the bearys and the BCF. He also mentioned that, BCF has a good identity in front of the public. Dr. Yusuf's leadership has shown the road to success. Once again he congratulated to all. Mr. Ameeruddin SI the Vice President said that he is very happy to be present at the AGM and congratulated all the members for attending this meeting. Mr. Afeeq Hussain, VP also congratulated all the members. He requested BCF and its members to create an identity by starting a school.

Mrs. Mumtaz Zakir, the President of Ladies Wing also congratulated everyone on the eve of the AGM. She said that, everyone should do good work. Mrs. Mumtaz also mentioned that all should support ladies committee so that they can also play a major role in the development the BCF, the bearys and the society. Mr. Habeeb Adoor, a well wisher of BCF said that all should do good work in the field of education, health, food, shelter, etc. He also said that there is a need for ladies hostel and also a need for international syllabus in the education system. He said all of us should work hard for doing a project.

Dr. Kaup presented the video show and a ppt on the BCF's activities and projects. The Hon. General Secretary Dr. Kaup read the minutes of the meeting for 2015 and 2016 and same was confirmed by the General Body Members. Dr. Kaup appraised the social activities done by BCF in the UAE and India. He mentioned that BCF primarily conducts Students educational Scholarship function every year whereby more than 650 poor students are issued educational scholarships in Mangalore.

He mentioned that, BCF is concentrated on issuing educational scholarship which leads to a platform for bringing up the poor family in terms of their status, livelihood and education. Dr. Kaup mentioned that till today in the last 12 years, BCF has issued scholarship to more than 10,000 students. Dr. Kaup further mentioned that, BCF is conducting Iftar party every year in Dubai which is normally chaired by Mr. Abdul Lathif Mulky and his team members. Similarly, he mentioned that BCF conducts every year sports festival which has been chaired by various chair persons such as Mr. Afeeq Hussain and Mr. Sajpa. In addition to this, BCF also conducts bi-yearly Bearys get together function. Dr. Kaup mentioned that this year BCF is going to conduct World Beary Convention. Dr. Kaup also mentioned that, BCF never forgets to felicitate dignatories and Ministers coming from India to the UAE.

Mr. Abdul Lathif Mulky, the Vice President, thanked all the members and read the list of items/gifts maintained by BCF for the year 2015 and 2016. Mr. Ataullah presented the statement of accounts for the year 2015 and 2016. Dr. Kaup, the internal Auditor presented the Audit Report of BCF for the period 2015 and 2016.

All the members of the Managing Committee for the year 2015 and 2016 were relieved and the platform was given to the AGM Chairman Mr. Ashraf Satikal and his team and the Election Officer Mr. Iqbal Mepha to manage the election process for BCF.

Dr. B.K. Yusuf, Dr. Kaup Mohamed and all the Vice Presidents thanked all the members for providing an opportunity to serve BCF in the year 2015 and 2016. All mentioned that the strengths of BCF are its members who work day and night to serve the poor people of the society in the State of Karnataka in India.

Hassan Darvesh is the Ambassador of BCF. Zafarullah Khan is the chief advisor Dr. Thumbay Moideen is founder patron. Fataullah Tonse is honorary advisor. Mumtaz Ali is NRI patron.

Dubai: In response to UAE health authorities encourage blood donation campaign Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta - U.A.E, conducted blood donation camps on April 22 at Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Khaldiya and on 23/04/2020 at Blood Transfusion and Research Centre, Sharjah.

The Abu Dhabi camp was inaugurated by Head of Department of Abu Dhabi Blood Bank, On this occasion she gave brief inputs of the benefits and features of blood donation, urged the participants to spread greater awareness about the importance of blood donation and congratulated the AKO members for their selfless social service and wished all the best for their future endeavours.

Abdul Rasheed, President of AKO presided over the function and Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta Vice President Mr. Mohammad Nasir appreciated the effort for organizing this camp and gathering youths to be a part of this noble cause as life is precious on this earth. "Each drop of blood counts much, so kindly take it as personal compassion to help unknown who requires blood with no relatives to help him/her.

In Abu Dhabi 41 and in Sharjah 49 donors participated in this event and donated their blood. It was nice to see cheerful smiling donors doing a great community work.
Blood bank staff and AKO Organizing team enthusiastically arranged the campaign which was witnessed by many members and leaders of various community organization of Karnataka.

Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta President briefed the participates about the ongoing social work of AKO in this current COVID-19 pandemic grim situation AKO is working on following fields: AKO Members have stepped up to support needy community during the Covid-19 pandemic have gone out of their way to comfort those struggling to deal with the challenging situation.

While thousands of people continue to #StayHome, many are in quarantine, there are those on visit visa and stuck here, others have lost jobs or face salary cuts. AKO in coordination with UAE Embassy and other social organization have been able to ensure basic necessities are fulfilled with food provisions and medical assistance to needy.

Providing counselling to bachelors and families those are on quarantine and isolation.

The organizers thanked everybody especially, UAE Health Authority, Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Khaldiya and Blood Transfusion and Research Centre, Sharjah, Management and staff as well as donors for their time and support for the good cause.

On Friday, February 7, 2020 Tulu Koota Kuwait under the leadership of Dynamic President Ramesh S Bhandary and coordination of Sports Secretary Roshan Quadras  held its annual picnic at Mishref Garden, Kuwait.  Although slight drizzling on the   previous night had caused great concern amongst committee members , yet the  windy and dusty weather did not lessen the enthusiasm and excitement of Tulu Koota Kuwait members.  Over 1000 members enjoyed the fun filled day.

MC of the occasion Mr. Manoj Shetty & Ms. Priya Devadiga welcomed the audience and Chief guests for the event Dr Jeshna Rajan- Badr Al Samaa Clinic, Dr. S.M.Hyther Ali- Chairman of TVS Hyder Group, Mr. John Simon- Group Manager for Corporate Sales and Event Marketing ,  Al Mulla Exchange, Mr Pradeep, owner of Geetherb medicine and Mr. Lokesh & Team from NH Assets.  The program kicked off with Kuwait & Indian National anthem. The guests in their address to audience, praised Tulu Koota Kuwait unwavering efforts to unite people through language, and also the solid philanthropy and charity work being carried by the association was applauded. The presidents  of different South Canara  association in Kuwait were also amongst invited dignitaries for the event, and were welcomed with flower bouquet. This was followed by the release of “ Tulu Nada Jathre flyer”.

Tulu Koota Kuwait President, Ramesh S Bhandary in his speech welcomed the dignitaries and emphasized the significance of the annual picnic gathering. He further elaborated on the innovative concept of “Tulunada Jathre ” being initiated this year, and requested fervent support and participation from all members in  this wonderful program scheduled to be held on Friday,  March 27, 2020 at Indian Central School Indoor Ground Abbasiya. 

As part of days celebration TKK’s Flag hosting  was done  by President , Ramesh Bhandary. “Go Green Global concept” by Tulu Koota members   was the highlight of the inaugural ceremony.  This act was directed by talented committee member Mr. Suresh Salian.

The act beautifully conveyed the message of sustainability, and climate change and raised awareness on how to fight it, how to live green.  The traditional inaugural of the sports event was done by breaking of coconut by Sports Secretary Mr. Roshan Quadras.  TKK First Lady Mrs Anitha Ramesh Bhandary led the sports march holding the traditional torch followed by the  Go Green Global team holding different country flags with plant pots, followed by President, committee members and Sponsors of TKK. The president officially inaugurated the Sports Event by officially lighting the Sports Lamp.

After the inauguration ceremony, the members and kids actively participated in day long sports games and activities meticulously planned out by the Sports committee  for different age groups.  Passing the parcel, Veggies collection, ball bucket, veg shopping , macroni race, hockey, kutti donne, sack race, lagori,  breaking the pot , tyre race, slow cycling, water ballon race, musical chair , kabbadi, volley ball, throw  ball , tug of war, housie housie, kept the members and their families  engaged and entertained. The winners for the competitions were awarded with trophies towards the end of the exciting day.

Delicious and authentic Mangalorean lunch for the event was served by Oriental Restaurant Kuwait.  Sounds and lights support for the event was provided by Anand, while the beautiful moments were captured in camera by Mr.Blen Dsouza and Mr.Rajesh Devadiga

Tulu Koota Kuwait takes this opportunity to thank its committee members, members and volunteers for their dedicated efforts and team spirit and active participation that eventually lead to the huge success of Family Picnic 2020. Dubai, Aug 7: One may call it good luck, but for two Indian expats it was God who prevented them at the last minute from boarding the Air India Express plane that crashed in Kerala, killing at least 18 people on board.

According to India's Civil Aviation Ministry, the Boeing 737 aircraft on a flight from Dubai to Kozhikode overshot the runway at Kozhikode airport on Friday evening. There were 184 passengers including 10 infants, 2 pilots and four cabin crew onboard the aircraft.

Noufal Moin Vetten, an Ajman resident working as an office boy in a Sharjah school, was booked to travel on the flight and had checked in as per schedule.

Recounting his miraculous escape, Vetten, a resident of Malappuram, Thirunavaya, whose visa was cancelled a week ago, told Gulf News: “I was handed my boarding pass, but when I reached immigration, they told me I had to pay a fine of Dh 1,000 (Rs 20,430) for overstay. I had only Dh 500 (Rs10,215) with me.

"I called my school PRO and he told me to come back. He said they would follow protocols and pay the fines before sending me,“ he said.

Vetten was disappointed and called his family to let them know.

“When I heard about the crash, I was saddened for all the passengers. But I'm so relieved I missed it. God has been really merciful,” said Vetten.

Afsal Parrakodan, a resident of Abu Dhabi, had a similar stroke of luck.

“My work visa was cancelled about a week ago. After getting my boarding pass, I was told I had to pay a fine of Dh1,000 at the immigration counter, but I had only Dh500 on me.”

“I was very keen to board the flight and be with my family. So I called a friend who brought me the additional Dh500, but by then, my baggage had been offloaded and the flight's doors were closed,” said Parrakodan.

“I was feeling very sad and called my mother to tell her I had missed the flight. But a few hours later, when I learnt of the crash, I couldn’t help but feel relieved and thankful to God for saving my life,“ said an overwhelmed Parrakodan who plans to fly back next week.
