Dubai: Bearys Cultural Forum felicitates Abdul Khader Emkay

Dubai: Bearys Cutlural Forum, UAE and India in association with Abdul Latif Mulky, Vice President, hosted a dinner party at the Jonrad Hotel, Dubai to honor entrepreneur Abdul Khader Emkay.

Abdul Khader is a known social worker in coastal Karnataka, a Janata Dal leader, former president of Shafi Juma Masjid Mulky and the Managing Director of EMKAY Enterprises, EMKAY Plyboards and Crops Care (India) Products. Abdul Jaleel, Managing Partner, EMKAY Enterprises was also present.

The function started with Quran recitation by M.E. Moolur, the Vice President of BCF. Dr. Kaup welcomed all the guests including the distinguished guests and the president Dr. B.K. Yusuf and all the Executive committee members.

Dr. Kaup provided a briefing on Bearys Cultural Forum's activities conducted in the UAE and India. He said, “BCF’s main objective is to promote, educate and create social, cultural and educational awareness amongst the Bearys and the downtrodden population of the coastal Karnataka State and the UAE. He also mentioned that, the BCF regularly conducts cultural, sports, talent search, educational activities, Career Guidance Seminars, Iftar Party, etc. every year and also provides educational scholarship to the poor downtrodden students for pursuing their higher studies in the field of medicines, engineering, pharmacy, business, management, nursing, Journalism, Dentistry, etc in Mangalore, India."

All the members of BCF gave an introduction about themselves to the Guest of Honor Mr. Abdul Khader Emkay. Dr. Yusuf, the President of BCF also applauded the work done by the Guest Mr. Abdul Khader Emkay and he said that we are proud to do the felicitation of our guests visiting from the State of Karnataka.

Mr. Abdul Lathif Mulky, the Vice President of BCF thanked Mr. Abdul Khader Emkay for attending as a guest at the BCF felicitation ceremony. Mr. Lathif Mulky also gave a briefing on the Iftar Meet 2016 and requested the distinguished guests and all the members to attend BCF's Iftar Meet 2016. The Invitation for BCF's Iftar Meet 2016 was released by Mr. Abdul Khader Emkay and Dr. B.K. Yusuf along with all the members of the BCF Executive Committee.

Mr. Abdul Khader Emkay was conferred with a Award of Felicitation and Appreciation for his great contribution to the Bearys and the society. Mr. Abdul Khader said that he was highly delighted to accept this honor and was very happy to receive this award. He said that, he will always be supporting BCF for uplifting the poor people of the Karnataka State.

Mr. M.E. Moolur gave a briefing on Scholarship function scheduled to be held in Mangalore on 21st August 2016. He requested all the people to submit their application for scholarship before 15th June 2016. Mr. M.B. Akbar proposed vote of thanks. Mr. Abdul Lathif Mulky hosted the delicious buffet dinner to all the attendees of this function.

Doha: Selvam aged 46 son of Subramanian hailing from Panakulam Village, Alangudi, Pudukkottai District in Tamilnadu province who worked as a technician, died in Qatar on April 24.

Due to challenging situation prevailing in both India & Qatar for body repatriation services, especially in Covid-19 atmosphere, Family is unable to progress further for past 2 months. At his stage Family of the deceased met Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Pudukkottai office bearers and requested to intervene and help out, and also agreed to bury the body in Qatar itself.

Hence, SDPI delegates communicated with well-known Indian Expatriate welfare Organization - Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF). QISF General Secretary Basheer Ahamed, Secretary Abdullatheef Madikeri and team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation within a short period of time and arranged for a peaceful burial of Mr. Selvam in Dukhan cemetery.

Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) Chaiman Dr Sam Pitroda held video conference with senior IOC office bearers across Middle Eastern countries on 14th April 2020 to review the impact of COVID-19 pandemic among Indians residing in the region. Almost all speakers appreciated the efforts initiated and  implemented by  respective governments to contain spread of the deadly virus as well as measures taken towards welfare of the people affected by the lockdown. 

IOC Presidents, Mohammed Mansour - Bahrain, Abdullah Manjeri - Saudi Arabia, Dr J Ratan kunar - Oman and Girish kumar - Qatar, highlighted the quality treatment of patients and finacial aid provided by governments and other authorities. Bahrain IOC president Mansour , also  apprised about the 'Food for Needy' drive in Association with KHK Heroes foundation, initiated by HH Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and quality treatments as well as financial aid to local and expat residents.

Anura Mathai, IOC  Global Event Coordinator, spoke about certain problems of Indians in the UAE. IOC Middle East Convener, Mansoor Palloor, emphasised and requested IOC Chairman to urge Indian government to arrange immediate repatriation of indians stranded in Gulf countries. AICC Secretary, Himanshu Vyas, IOC Secretary Dr Arathi Krishna, Dr Arshi Malik (Abha), Mohiuddin Sirajudeen (Jeddah), Advocate Joseph Palathara (Dammam) Prasad Kodru, Jayati Maitra Ziyad Ahmed (Qatar) and Khursheed Alam (Gen Secretary- Bahrain) also apprised the participants about various issues relevant to the pandemic and suggested further initiatives to be undertaken. 

Dr Sam Pitroda briefed about sustained and consolidated efforts by all IOC members  during this unprecedented situation facing the world and assured that he would convey IOC  concerns to the government and try his best to ensure all possible help is made available to all needy Indians.

Kuwait: State of Karnataka is enriched with Daasa culture, which had contributed immensely to its literature, culture, art & philosophy. Daasa tradition in Karnataka was part of the Bhakti movement which flourished from around 15th century and it extended considerable spiritual influence over the masses. Kuwait Kannada Koota, a socio-cultural association for the people of Karnataka in Kuwait, organized its annual Daasotsava on 14th February 2020 in remembrance of these saints, thereby displaying the rich cultural heritage of the state. 

The program started with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath, convener of cultural committee. Divine invocation prayer by Mrs. Vasantha Ashok and Mrs. Sandhya Arun set the trend for the event. This was followed by lighting of the traditional lamp by the 2020 executive committee, comprising of President Mr. Rajesh Vittal, Vice President Mr. Sandeep Chabba, General Secretary Mr. Praveen Kumar Shetty and Treasurer Mr. Pradeep Rao. President, while welcoming the gathering, spoke about the importance of Daasas in Kannada literature & history and briefed about the series of upcoming programs. Cultural programs started with fancy dress competition by Koota children comprising of all age group starting from infants to elder kids. This program stole the show as the efforts & time invested by children and their parents were clearly visible. 

2019 executive committee was felicitated by the current committee for wonderfully managing Koota affairs & programs. This was followed by the release of Koota magazine “Marala Mallige", comprising of informative articles, drawings, poems etc., entirely contributed by the association members. Event’s main attraction “Vrindavana Leelavarana", a colorful dance drama spectacularly portrayed by 54 Koota children, was very well appreciated & received by the attendees. Association children who successfully completed 10th and 12th were felicitated as a token of encouragement. Executive committee gave away prizes to Kids who excelled in the stage competitions held earlier. Audience was treated to a divine and melodious Bhajan program conducted astutely by the ladies & men. Koota women performed Bhajan Kolata, along with ladies bhajan, in a well-coordinated manner. Vote of thanks was proposed by the secretary of Koota, thanking those who contributed for the success of the event. Another attraction was a quiz competition “Rasa Prashne", conducted efficiently between the programs, by Mr. Mahesh Shiramgond. 

The whole event was planned and executed astutely by the cultural committee under the leadership of Convener, Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath. Public Relations Committee, led by Mrs. Suparna Dambal, welcomed the members in a vibrant & colorful way, showcasing a beautifully erected divine mantap. The event was sponsored by Unimoni, LIC HFL, VSPL, Geetherb, Kotak Life Insurance, Joy Alukkas, Lulu Hypermarket & Total Environment. The program ended with a sumptuous satvik lunch, sponsored by the senior Koota member, Mr. Ramachandran Seetharaman.
