Dubai: Kadam celebrates 6th anniversary

Dubai: It was a glorious and glittering celebration for “KaDaM” (Kundapura Devadiga Mitra) members when they congregated to commemorate their sixth anniversary on 23rd December at Marco Polo Hotel Deira, Dubai.

The program kick started sharp at 11.30am with the lighting of the lamp by Vishalakshi D Sherigar, Kiran N Beskoor, SunithaManojDevadiga, Shruthi R Devadiga, HarinakshiSherigar, SahanaNagaraj, Reshma, Poornima Ashok, Hema Suresh, Revathi, Jayamma, Parvathi, followed by a prayer song devotionally recited by Ramachandra.

NithyanandaBeskoor welcomed the members, sponsors and the media to the function by promising an exciting day filled with loads of entertainment, fun and frolic.

Program was ably hosted by Santosh Sherigar, ShridharDevadigaNithyanandaBeskoor.

The cultural program started with a spellbound Bharatanatyam Dance performance by Kumari LakshmiJayachandran. Nirel fame singers PramodKumar along with Shahid, DivyaKumble, SukanyaSharathKarkera,Sai Mallika, Ashok Bailur, Dinesh Udupi, RamachandraDevadiga, Shodhan Prasad, Master AmogVarsha Bhat, Master Manish Kumar, RajendraDevadiga,enthralled the audience with their melodious voice singing great numbers from Kannada and Hindi films.

Tiny tots from Symphony Institute Sharjah enthralled the crowd with their superb dance performances.

The Vijay & dance troop performed superbly well and entertained the audience with some electrifying performances.

VasudevaDevadigaByndoor read out success story of KaDaM.Showcasing the growth and social work it had undertaken since its inception,why the group was formed and every detail of how KaDaM came into existence, the birth and its activities since 2010.

As of date, “KaDaM” takes pride to announce that a whopping amount of around Rs.20 Lakhs has been collected as KaDaM Education Fund. Rs.3 Lakhs is being distributed as scholarship each year and another Rs 7 lakhs was given as medical expenditure to the hospitalized patients. The contribution given by each member every month is being accumulated to necessitate unexpected medical expenditure and whenever there is an urgent need for money to meet any unforeseen circumstances, the members voluntarily initiate to cover up the expenses by contributing.

Shodhan Prasad in his speech appreciatedKaDaM for its services to the poor and needy while upholding the values of humanity.

Mementos were given to all sponsors, participants and media persons for their support and coverage.Manoj Devadiga & Sudhaker Devadiga handed over the mementos.

Stage &Cultural programs were ably arranged by YuvarajDevadiga, Satish Devadiga, PramodDevadiga, RohithDevadiga Elegant, Ravi Devadiga,Santhosh Kolnad, Raghu Maravanthe, NageshDevadiga, JagadishDevadiga Elegant, Ranjitha Devadiga, RaghavendraDevadiga Elegant, VasudevaDevadigaByndoor,Mutha Devadiga, Manju Devadiga,Narayan koteshwara,NagarajDevadiga, Shashi Devadiga, & Sudhakar Devadiga.

Some of the spot prizes were given to the winners of the games and raffle draw was also a part of the fun filled day.

Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) Chaiman Dr Sam Pitroda held video conference with senior IOC office bearers across Middle Eastern countries on 14th April 2020 to review the impact of COVID-19 pandemic among Indians residing in the region. Almost all speakers appreciated the efforts initiated and  implemented by  respective governments to contain spread of the deadly virus as well as measures taken towards welfare of the people affected by the lockdown. 

IOC Presidents, Mohammed Mansour - Bahrain, Abdullah Manjeri - Saudi Arabia, Dr J Ratan kunar - Oman and Girish kumar - Qatar, highlighted the quality treatment of patients and finacial aid provided by governments and other authorities. Bahrain IOC president Mansour , also  apprised about the 'Food for Needy' drive in Association with KHK Heroes foundation, initiated by HH Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and quality treatments as well as financial aid to local and expat residents.

Anura Mathai, IOC  Global Event Coordinator, spoke about certain problems of Indians in the UAE. IOC Middle East Convener, Mansoor Palloor, emphasised and requested IOC Chairman to urge Indian government to arrange immediate repatriation of indians stranded in Gulf countries. AICC Secretary, Himanshu Vyas, IOC Secretary Dr Arathi Krishna, Dr Arshi Malik (Abha), Mohiuddin Sirajudeen (Jeddah), Advocate Joseph Palathara (Dammam) Prasad Kodru, Jayati Maitra Ziyad Ahmed (Qatar) and Khursheed Alam (Gen Secretary- Bahrain) also apprised the participants about various issues relevant to the pandemic and suggested further initiatives to be undertaken. 

Dr Sam Pitroda briefed about sustained and consolidated efforts by all IOC members  during this unprecedented situation facing the world and assured that he would convey IOC  concerns to the government and try his best to ensure all possible help is made available to all needy Indians.

Kuwait: State of Karnataka is enriched with Daasa culture, which had contributed immensely to its literature, culture, art & philosophy. Daasa tradition in Karnataka was part of the Bhakti movement which flourished from around 15th century and it extended considerable spiritual influence over the masses. Kuwait Kannada Koota, a socio-cultural association for the people of Karnataka in Kuwait, organized its annual Daasotsava on 14th February 2020 in remembrance of these saints, thereby displaying the rich cultural heritage of the state. 

The program started with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath, convener of cultural committee. Divine invocation prayer by Mrs. Vasantha Ashok and Mrs. Sandhya Arun set the trend for the event. This was followed by lighting of the traditional lamp by the 2020 executive committee, comprising of President Mr. Rajesh Vittal, Vice President Mr. Sandeep Chabba, General Secretary Mr. Praveen Kumar Shetty and Treasurer Mr. Pradeep Rao. President, while welcoming the gathering, spoke about the importance of Daasas in Kannada literature & history and briefed about the series of upcoming programs. Cultural programs started with fancy dress competition by Koota children comprising of all age group starting from infants to elder kids. This program stole the show as the efforts & time invested by children and their parents were clearly visible. 

2019 executive committee was felicitated by the current committee for wonderfully managing Koota affairs & programs. This was followed by the release of Koota magazine “Marala Mallige", comprising of informative articles, drawings, poems etc., entirely contributed by the association members. Event’s main attraction “Vrindavana Leelavarana", a colorful dance drama spectacularly portrayed by 54 Koota children, was very well appreciated & received by the attendees. Association children who successfully completed 10th and 12th were felicitated as a token of encouragement. Executive committee gave away prizes to Kids who excelled in the stage competitions held earlier. Audience was treated to a divine and melodious Bhajan program conducted astutely by the ladies & men. Koota women performed Bhajan Kolata, along with ladies bhajan, in a well-coordinated manner. Vote of thanks was proposed by the secretary of Koota, thanking those who contributed for the success of the event. Another attraction was a quiz competition “Rasa Prashne", conducted efficiently between the programs, by Mr. Mahesh Shiramgond. 

The whole event was planned and executed astutely by the cultural committee under the leadership of Convener, Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath. Public Relations Committee, led by Mrs. Suparna Dambal, welcomed the members in a vibrant & colorful way, showcasing a beautifully erected divine mantap. The event was sponsored by Unimoni, LIC HFL, VSPL, Geetherb, Kotak Life Insurance, Joy Alukkas, Lulu Hypermarket & Total Environment. The program ended with a sumptuous satvik lunch, sponsored by the senior Koota member, Mr. Ramachandran Seetharaman.

Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) organized Blood Donation Camp at Latifa Hospital, Oud Mehta Dubai on April 23rd, 2020 in association with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and with support from Community Development Authority (CDA) Government of Dubai.

Blood Donation Drive started in the morning at 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Around 48 people participated in this drive and donated blood to support the Dubai Blood Bank.

A potential shortage of blood for transfusions has been occurred due to a significant reduction in voluntary blood donations during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The current pandemic, health services are now running with shortages of blood availability. To support the DHA Blood Bank KSCC taken initiative to ensure that blood donations continued and are safe for both the donor and the recipient.

After taking safety precaution and safe distance during the blood donation donors feeling happy and honored to participate and donate blood at this pandemic situation. Club Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi was also present during this event.

KSCC appreciated all the blood donors and be grateful to Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Community Development Authority (CDA), and Government of Dubai for their association for this event. They also thanked the volunteers and supporters.
