Dubai: ‘Kannada Ratna’ award to be conferred on K S Nissar Ahmed on Nov 11

Dubai, Nov 6: Karnataka Rajyotsava is being celebrated are all over Karnataka and the Kannadigas in UAE are not left behind. Under Precious Parties & Entertainment Services, Kannadigas residing in UAE are presenting ‘Karnataka Rajyotsava Musical Event and ‘Kannada Ratna’ award presentation in Dubai this Friday the November 11 at Gems Millennium School, Al Ghusais, Dubai. Variety cultural programmes will be held from 3 pm onwards.

'Kannada Ratna' award will be bestowed on the renowned poet, writer, Padma Shri awardee Nadoja Prof K S Nissar Ahmed during the programme.

H H Deepa Jain, Head of Chancery and Consul (Culture & Protocol), Consulate General of India Dubai has agreed to be the Chief Guest.

AGG Dance Group will be arriving from Bengaluru to present various forms of ‘Janapada Nrithya’ folk dances which will entertain the Kannadigas. Also Ranga Ganga Team from Dharwad will be presenting ‘Cultural Programme’ along with various other folk dances and laughter poetry.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.

The Overseas Indian Cultural Congress (OICC), Bahrain, has charted aircrafts to repatriate stranded expatriates to India. 

Boby Parayil, General Secretary, OICC National Committee, Bahrain has thanked all those who supported in this cause.

“The aircrafts were not licensed and were in crisis until the last minute. Finally, Mohammed Mansoor, president of Bahrain chapter of Indian Overseas Congress approached IOC Middle East in charge Dr Arathi Krishna, who helped get permission to operate flight to Kozhikode,” he said in a release. 

All mandatory approvals from the Foreign Ministry of Affairs and other government officials were accomplished by Dr Arathi Krishna. OICC has expressed gratitude to her for her timely support, he said. 

OICC is also grateful to former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy for doing necessary arrangements to get all the approvals for flight landing in Kerala, he added.

Kuwait City, Aug 9: Indian social forum organised Blood Donation Camp in association with central blood bank kuwait on Friday, 7th August 2020.

The forum organised camp to support the high demand of blood in the context of COVID-19.

All arrangements to maintain COVID-19 protocol were made in the camp including segregation of donors as branch wise batches along with strict safety measures of participants.

Forum also had donated blood to many patients during the lockdown period. 

Hundreds of people donated blood in the camp. The camp organised in Blood Bank, Jabriya was successfully managed by Dr. Asma Rafat and leaders of Indian social forum Vice President Aslam, Secretory Sayyid Bukhari Thangal, Moideen Koya, Khaleel, Aseem, Mohammed Sha, Shihab, Naushad,
Indian Social Forum expressed their deep appreciation and gratitude to the doctors, staff and management of blood bank, forum’s members and donors.
