Dubai: 'Shanan Star' win Hidayah Season-2 Trophy

Dubai: Hidayah Cricket Tournament Season-2 was recently organized by the Dubai unit of Hidayah Foundation, a Mangaluru based charitable organization. As many as 16 cricket teams from across the UAE took part in the tournament held in Dubai.

The games commenced at 7:30 a.m. and concluded at 6:30 p.m, with Team ‘Shanan Star’ winning the Title Hidayah Trophy Season 2 Champions. ‘Royal Shiroor’ were the runners up.

Individual performers are: Best Bowler: Fawaz (Shanan Star), Best Batsman: Sarfraz (Royal Shiroor), Hat trick Wicket: Tanveer (Hidayah Eleven), Man of the Series: Rameez (Shanan Star).

The Awards Presentation function was held on 28th March, at the residence of Mohammed Shareef, Chairman of Khushi Group of Companies.

The primary objective of the tournament was to create an awareness and concern within the youth towards the conditions of the needy and as well keep them updated on how through a collective and structured approach, we can overcome many of the challenges faced by the community at large.

Mr. Habibullah, Chairman of the Hidayah Cricket Tournament 2015, hosted the event. He encouraged the youth to strongly participate in efforts to help the needy and join the cause. He mentioned that the youth are the hope of the future and any changes that we wish to see in the community must come from the youth, while simultaneously learning from the experiences of senior members of the community.

Mr. Tanveer Ahmed, President of the Hidayah Foundation (HF) Dubai Unit, made a detailed presentation on the Vision and Objectives of Hidayah Foundation. He elaborated on HF’s Vision 2025 and explained the various mechanisms through which HF undertakes its efforts towards uplifting the poor, the empowerment of Women and Development of Children. The audience found the presentation extremely informative and shared their thoughts and opinions, which was very encouraging.

The awards presentation ceremony was conducted by the Tournament Coordinating Unit comprising of Mr. Abdul Ghafoor Farangipete, Mr. Altaf Hameed and Mr. Mohammed Nawaz. Members and representatives of the various teams were present to accept their trophies from the delegates present.

Mr. Habibullah concluded the event with a commitment to continue hosting similar events in the future to build stronger bonds of friendship and brotherhood within the youth. Mr. Tanveer proposed vote of thanks.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter organized a "Live along with COVID-19" webinar on 29 May 2020 in association with HealthCare Polyclinic, Dammam.

The webinar at Zoom App. featured over 150+ resident Kannadigas from Saudi Arabia's eastern and neighboring provinces.

Dr. Shailendranath made a presentation on the program and gave useful information. Indian Social Forum Dammam, Karnataka Chapter President Sharif Joktake delivered the keynote address. General Secretary Irshad Jokatte stalled the program.

Kuwait: Friday Forum Kuwait conducted its 12th inter-school Islamic Elocution Competition at Hotel Rajadhani Palace, Khaitan on 1st January 2020. 

The competition, which was held in the senior and junior categories had participation from 15 Indian Schools across Kuwait comprising of 43 students. In the senior category, Ayisha Wafiya of Indian Community School, Khaitan bagged the first prize and Efrem Joseph of Indian Community School, Amman won the second prize. 

In the junior category, Hima Jameela of Indian Community School, Khaitan bagged the first prize and Fadhel Kandapath of Fahaheel Al Wataniya Indian School won the second prize. Nawaal Yaseen Ebrahim of Indian Community School (SR), Salmiya and Rhruthunanda of Indian Learners Own Academy, Abbasiya won the consolation prizes in senior and junior categories respectively.

This year, the event was fully conducted by the ladies wing of Friday Forum. Dr. Thasneem Amir, Ibtisam Basheer, Toast Masters Ola Rasheed, Fatma Abduhedeid, Shazia Thabassum and Marium Rangat were the judges for the competition in senior and junior categories. The event started with the Qira’at by Saneera Riyas, followed by welcome speech by Dr. Sajna Mohammed. 

The prizes were distributed to winners by Shahina Mansoor, Femitha Faseeh, Dr.Thasneem Amir, Dr. Sajna Mohammed, Zeenath Yacoub, Safna Sayam and Saneera Riyas. The Souvenir for the program - “INSPERIA 2020”- was released during the event by the chief editor Farha Abdul Rahman. The program was compered by Thanveera Noushad and the program convenor Subeana Shabeer conveyed the vote of thanks.

Manama: Kannada Sangha Bahrain President Mr. Pradeep Shetty and Vice President of Bahrain's prestigious KHK HEROES Foundation Mohammed Mansoor on Monday, May 11, met The Second Secretary (Consular & CW) of the Embassy of India, Bahrain Mr. P. K. Chowdhury in the Indian Embassy. 

The situation, problems and relief of Indians and Kannadigas residing in Bahrain during the COVID 19 Pandemic was discussed in detail. The distribution of food (dry ration) kits, as well as those seeking repatriation, was also discussed in the meeting.

When asked about the repatriation of distressed Kannadigas, the Second Secretary said that though the number of Kannadigas who wish to return home is not much compared to the rest of the states, still Embassy is compiling all the information and will do the needful soon. 

Mr. Shetty and Mr. Mansoor told the Second Secretary that those who are in problem can contact them and they are ready to do their best.
