Bengaluru, Jul 29: Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala has scheduled election to the Legislative Assembly Speaker’s Post on July 31 and has invited nominations to the post opened today.
The Speaker post fell vacant following resignation of K R Ramesh Kumar earlier in the day, after the House passed the Confidence motion moved by the new Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and also after the House passed the Finance bill and vote on account for three months by voice vote.
Deputy Speaker Krishna Reddy, who was on the Chair in the Assembly, announced the calendar for the Speaker post announced by the Governor and adjourned the House till July 31.
No confidence motion, Finance bill and vote on account for three months were also passed in the Upper House as well as in the Legislative Council by voice vote.
