Sunny Leone has changed the profile of Bollywood heroines as we know it.

What’s more, the early promos of her first Bollywood film ‘Jism 2’ suggest she can act – and we don’t mean the adult stuff that made her a star in the first place.

No one is impervious to her charms, not even Osama bin Laden, if the rumours are to be believed.

With Miss Leone in Bollywood headlines like “intimacy”, “bikinis” and “daring scenes”, common fodder for Bollywood coverage in the past, seem passe.

Is there anyone out there who can keep up with Sunny?

It was a struggle to come up with true ‘desi’ contenders and not just because of the cultural divide.

Here's a lowdown on the top five Bollywood girls who we think can keep red-hot Sunny from taking over the 100-year-old Indian film industry.

Malaika Arora Khan

Bollywood's 'Badnaam Munni' aka Malaika Arora Khan has made a name for herself in the Indian film industry as a leading item girl.

Many item girls have come and faded away, but sexy Malaika still remains the number one item girl with her gyrating moves and sultry looks.

A mother of a growing boy, Malaika has even been termed as the 'best item girl' of Bollywood by none other than Salman Khan, who is also her brother-in-law.

Her sensuous moves in "U.P., Bihar lootne", "Chhaiya chhaiya", "Hoth raseele", "Kaal kaal", and "Mahi ve" are just of the hot numbers where she competes with herself. All her item numbers have been chartbusters till date.

Disclaimer: She is a true contender and needs no disclaimers.

Veena Malik

Pakistani starlet Veena Malik has been in the showbiz industry for more than a decade but she has grabbed the limelight by its collar only after making several controversial appearances and statements.

Veena has revealed, among other things, that she would pose nude for 'Playboy' for $1 million if she is offered to do so.

Earlier, she also engaged in a passionate debate with a mufti, who claimed she had engaged in immoral behaviour as a contestant on Bigg Boss.

Malik told him off by pointing out the double standards of Pakistani media against women among other rebuttals.

She has signed South remake of 'The Dirty Picture'. "I don't mind being titled as South's Vidya Balan," said Veena, who will also be seen in 'Supermodel' opposite Ashmit Patel.

Other projects in the pipeline are 'Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai', 'Zindagi 50-50' and 'Mumbai 125 km'.

Her reality show 'Swayamwar' is in trouble as the channel which was supposed to telecast the show got shut down.

A few months ago, controversy resulted in Pakistan over a nude image of Malik on the cover of FHM magazine India edition in which she had "ISI" written on her upper arm – the initials of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence agency.

Malik says she was topless but did not pose completely nude, and has sued the magazine over the images.

Disclaimer: Nobody seems to have first-hand knowledge of Veena's dancing… or acting skills. She is a contender simply because of her dare-to-bare personality.

Mallika Sherawat

Mallika Sherawat has found an alternate career in Bollywood as an item girl.

The sizzler from Haryana did a series of item songs in 2011 alone. She was very much in demand and shot for Shalu Ke Thumkey (Bin Bulaye Baraati); Jalebi Bai (Double Dhamaal); Kalasala (Oshti-Tamil).

In 2012, Mallika sizzled as 'Laila' in Tezz.

Disclaimer: Her sensuous moves are ok, but in order to seriously compete with Sunny Leone, she needs to raise her well, standards? If that makes sense… given that this is Sunny Leone we are talking about. However, she did look poised during her appearances in Cannes, thanks to her Jackie Chan connection.

Poonam Pandey

Poonam Pandey sprang to limelight as a Kingfisher Calendar girl for 2011.

She was the first Kingfisher Calendar girl to pose nude for a magazine, according to Wikipedia.

She had hogged the headlines when she vowed to strip if India lifts the cricket World Cup in 2011.

Although she did not keep her promise after India was declared world champions, she did pose nude moments after IPL 5 concluded.

Disclaimer: Although, there is no indication that Poonam has the flair to carry off an item number, the sheer number of followers she has on Twitter makes her a big draw… if not for a main role, at least for the curiosity factor she will bring in an item number

Katrina Kaif

The Bollywood actress from London always had the looks and the figure to become a hot item girl and she proved it in Salman Khan's Bodyguard. Clad in a skimpy dress, Katrina's belly dancing moves in 'Sheila Ki Jawaani' topped the charts for weeks. A year later, katrina went back to some more hip grooving with 'Chikni Chameli'. The desi number cemented Katrina's position as a true contender for item songs in Bollywood. No wonder both Bodyguard and Agneepath went on to join the elite Rs100-crore club.

Disclaimer: Katrina might have to divest some more clothes if she wants to compete with Sunny's oomph factor. Her silicone pout is definitely not enough.

Mumbai, Aug 1: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has said that Sushant Singh Rajput case should not be politicised or used to create friction between Maharashtra and Bihar.

Amid the ongoing criticism faced by the Mumbai Police following an investigation into Rajput's death case, the Chief Minister stressed that Mumbai Police is not "inefficient" while appealing those who have any evidence in regard to the case to step forward.

"Mumbai Police is not inefficient. If anyone has any evidence they can bring it to us and we will interrogate and punish the guilty. Please do not use this case (Sushant Singh Rajput death case) as an excuse to create friction between Maharashtra and Bihar," Thackeray said on Friday.

"Bringing politics in the case is the most deplorable thing to do," he added.

Maharashtra government has filed a caveat before the Supreme Court in the Rajput's death case.

Earlier, Bihar government and Rajput's family have filed caveats in the top court seeking to challenge actor Rhea Chakraborty's petition that sought transfer of the FIR registered in Patna to Mumbai in the actor's death case.

"After Bihar government and Rajput's family filed a caveat in the Supreme Court, Maharashtra government has filed a caveat before the SC today to ensure that no order is passed in Rhea Chakraborty's petition case without hearing its (Maharashtra) side," said Sachin Patil, standing counsel for Maharashtra Government.

A caveat is a legal process, in which the party which had filed it before the concerned court, shall have to be heard definitely before the concerned court passes any order in future.

Bihar Police has sought the assistance of Mumbai police to probe the Sushant Singh Rajput case, Mumbai police Crime Branch officials told ANI. However, the Police are still considering their request.

Bihar Police team reached after an FIR was filed by late actor's father KK Singh against Chakraborty in Bihar under several sections including abetment of suicide.

Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai residence on June 14.

Indore, Jun 6: An FIR has been registered against television producer Ekta Kapoor and two others here in Madhya Pradesh on charges of spreading obscenity, hurting religious feelings, and improper use of national emblems in her web show 'Triple X season 2', police said on Saturday.

The FIR also mentions about a particular scene which allegedly portrays the Indian Army's uniform in a highly objectionable way, an officer said.

Besides Kapoor, the FIR names director of the web series Pankhudi Rodrigues and screenwriter Jessica Khurana, said Annapurna police station inspector Satish Kumar Dwivedi.

The complaint was lodged on Friday night by Valmik Sakaragaye and Neeraj Yagnik, both residents of Indore.

"Ekta Kapoor's OTT platform ALTBalaji streamed (erotic) web series 'Triple X season 2' which not only spread obscenity but also hurt religious feelings of a particular community," Dwivedi said quoting the complaint.

A scene in the web show portrayed the Indian Army's uniform in a highly objectionable manner and also disrespected the national emblems, he said.

Kapoor and others have been booked under sections 294 (obscene acts and songs) and 298 (Uttering, words, etc., with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person) of the Indian Penal Code, Information Technology (IT) Act, and the State Emblem of India (Prohibition of Improper Use) Act, 2005, Dwivedi said.

Mumbai-based Ekta Kapoor is the founder of ALTBalaji, which is owned by her production house, Balaji Telefilms.

Further investigation is underway, the police officer said.

New York, Feb 26: Disney CEO Bob Iger, who steered the company’s absorption of Star Wars, Pixar, Marvel and Fox’s entertainment businesses and the launch of a Netflix challenger, is stepping down immediately, the company said in a surprise announcement Tuesday.

The Walt Disney Co. named as his replacement Bob Chapek, most recently chairman of Disney’s parks, experiences and products business.

“Did not see this coming -- Wowza,” tweeted LightShed media analyst Rich Greenfield.

Iger will remain executive chairman through the end of his contract on Dec. 31, 2021. Besides leading the board, Iger said he will spend more time on Disney’s creative endeavors, including the ESPN sports network, the newly acquired Fox studios and the Hulu and Disney Plus streaming services. He said he could not do that while running Disney on a day-to-day basis.

“It was not accelerated for any particular reason other than I felt the need was now to make this change,” Iger said on a conference call with reporters and analysts.

Iger steered Disney through the successful purchases of Lucasfilms, Marvel, Pixar and other brands that became big moneymakers for Disney. Last year, the top five movies in U.S. and Canada theaters were all Disney movies, including two from Marvel and one from Pixar. With the Dec. 20 release of the latest “Star Wars” movie, Disney had seven movies that each sold at least $1 billion in tickets worldwide last year.

Iger’s most recent coup was orchestrating a $71 billion purchase of Fox’s entertainment business in March and launching the Disney Plus streaming service in November. That service got nearly 29 million paid subscribers in less than three months. In a statement, Iger said it was the “optimal time” for a transition.

Pivotal Research Group analyst Jeffrey Wlodarczak said Iger had implied he would stay until his contract ended in 2021.

“On the other hand, they just successfully closed the Fox deal and had an unquestionably successful launch of Disney Plus so maybe he felt earlier was better to hand off the reins,” he said.

Colin Gillis, director of research at Chatham Road Partners, said the choice of Chapek seems solid because his parks division has had success.

Chapek said that while he has not led television networks or streaming services, his background in consumer-oriented businesses should help. Chapek and Iger both stressed that Disney would continue on the direction it had already been taking.

Disney is facing challenges to its traditional media business as cord-cutting picks up, meaning less fees from cable and satellite companies to carry Disney networks such as ABC, ESPN and Freeform. Disney’s own streaming services require the company to forgo money in licensing revenue, although the company is betting that money from subscriptions will eventually make up for that.

In the short term, Disney parks in Hong Kong and Shanghai, China, remain closed because of the coronavirus outbreak. In a CNBC interview, Chapek said the outbreak may be a “bump in the road,” but he said the company could weather it given “affinity for the brand.”

Iger told CNBC he had no plans to stay with Disney beyond next year.

Iger’s appointment as CEO in 2005 had been accompanied by controversy and protest from dissident shareholders Roy E. Disney and Stanley Gold. But he has come to be seen as a golden-boy top executive, and even someone who could run for president.

Iger told Vogue in 2018 that he had started seriously exploring a run for president because he is “horrified at the state of politics in America today,” but the Fox deal stopped his plans. Oprah Winfrey told Vogue that she “really, really pushed him to run.”

Iger, a former weatherman, joined ABC in 1974, 22 years before Disney bought the network.

At ABC, Iger developed such successful programs as “Home Improvement,” “The Drew Carey Show,” and “America’s Funniest Home Videos” and was instrumental in launching the quiz show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.” He was also criticized for cancelling well-regarded but expensive shows such as “Twin Peaks” and “thirtysomething.”

Since Iger became CEO, Disney’s stock price has risen fivefold. Its stock fell more than 2% in extended trading following the announcement, on top of a broader market selloff on virus fears during regular trading.

Iger, 69, was the second-highest paid CEO in 2018, as calculated by The Associated Press and Equilar, an executive data firm. He earned $65.6 million. The top earner was Discovery’s David Zaslav who earned $129.5 million.

Susan Arnold, the independent lead director of the Disney board, said succession planning had been ongoing for several years.

Chapek, 60, is only the seventh CEO in Disney history. Chapek was head of the parks, experiences and products division since it was created in 2018. He was previously head of parks and resorts and before that president of consumer products.
