Las Vegas, December 20: India’s hope of winning the Miss Universe 2012 crown crashed as Shilpa Singh failed to find a mention in the list of the Top 10 contestants.

Presenters Andy Cohen and Giuliana Rancis along with Jeannie Mai have been taking us through the beautiful evening- an event that is being viewed by over one billion audiences across 180 countries!

In no particular order, the Top 5 contestants who have taken a giant step to reach closer to the crown are:

Venezuela

Philippines

Australia

USA

Brazil

The 5 finalists confidently answered questions put forth by the judges only to inch closer to the coveted title.

Timomatic made the live audiences go crazy by singing the foot-tapping number ‘Set It Off’ as the Top 5 finalists walked in sync to celebrate their entry into the final list.

A while before the announcement of 5 finalists, the Top 10 hotties flaunted their toned frames in the evening gown round as Train rocked the stage with an incredible performance.

Miss China won the Best National Costume title.

The huge responsibility of giving the world its next Miss Universe is at the hands of Diego Boneta, Kerri Walsh, Scott Disick, Nigel Barker, Brad Goreski, Cluadia Jordan, Pablo Sandoval, Lisa Venderpupm & Jiggy, Chef Masaharu Morimoto and Ximena Navarette.

89 drop-dead gorgeous women had lined to own the crown that is currently adorned by Angola’s Leila Lopes.

India’s entry was the smart and ravishing Shilpa Singh from Bihar who, along with her ‘I Am She – Miss Globe International 2012’ title, also has a B. Tech. in Computer Science to her credit. The ravishing beauty is currently an Infosys Technologies’ employee.

But Singh wasn’t India’s original entry as Uttarakhand’s Urvashi Rautela, the original winner of the ‘I Am She’ title, had to withdraw because she was found to have been 25 days below the minimum age limit of 18 years.

Indian beauty Shilpa Singh could not make it to the Top 10, though she succeeded in making it to the TOP 16 list.

Hollywood star Angelina Jolie feels discrimination and impunity cannot be justified in any way, and says she hopes people in the US can come together to "address the deep structural wrongs in our society".

The Oscar-winning star, who turned 45 on Thursday, also donated $200,000 to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, reports people.com.

"Rights don't belong to any one group to give to another. Discrimination and impunity cannot be tolerated, explained away or justified. I hope we can come together as Americans to address the deep structural wrongs in our society," Jolie said.

"I stand with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund in their fight for racial equality, social justice, and their call for urgent legislative reform," she added.

Meanwhile, the actress celebrated her birthday amid lockdown with her six children -- Maddox, 18, Pax, 16, Zahara, 15, Shiloh, 14, and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

The actress and activist has been active since the COVID-19 pandemic spread around the world and has donated to different organisations.

Jolie previously donated $1 million to No Kid Hungry, the organisation working to feed children during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I knew that there were problems in America, that there was poverty, but I could not believe when I realised how many school children in America were dependent on a meal to not go hungry. I was so disgusted that we have gotten to this point as a country and that we would let the most vulnerable be in such a state. I can't imagine what it feels like for those parents," she said while opening up about her reason to get associated with the organisation.

Washington, May 18: Joining hands with the European Commission, actor Leonardo DiCaprio launched the Virunga Fund with seed money of USD 2 million to support Africa's Virunga National Park.

Since Virunga has lost a significant amount of revenue due to COVID shutdown post-March, the fund will be used to support the national park and the communities around, reported Variety.

The fund is aimed at disease prevention efforts, protection of mountain gorilla, and other species.

"I had the great honor of meeting and supporting Virunga's courageous team in their fight against illegal oil drilling in 2013," Variety quoted DiCaprio as saying.

"Virunga urgently needs funds to protect the endangered mountain gorilla population, to provide support to the rangers and the families of rangers who have fallen in the line of duty, and to help deliver essential disease prevention efforts. It's critical that we rally together during this time of incredible crisis," he added.

The 'Titanic' actor had earlier produced a Netflix documentary film 'Virunga' which is based on the national park.

Mumbai, Jul 23: Mumbai Police will soon issue summons to actor Kangana Ranaut to record her statement in connection with the case related to the suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, officials said on Thursday.

A day after Sushant Singh Rajput's suicide, Kangana Ranaut had released a two-minute video speaking highly of the deceased actor and accusing certain sections of the film industry of not acknowledging the star's talent.

She had also said that some of the last social media posts by the actor made it evident that he was struggling to survive in the industry.

According to the police, statements of 39 people, including film critic Rajeev Masand, director-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and filmmaker Aditya Chopra have been recorded in the investigation so far.

The Mumbai Police had recently said the statements of three psychiatrists and one psychotherapist have been recorded in connection with the suicide investigation.

Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai residence on June 14.
