20th January 2013 was a star studded event at the 58th Filmfare awards held at YRF studios in Mumbai. As celebrities walked the red carpet, there were the best dressed and worst dressed moments at this year's Filmfare awards.

Black was certainly back at this fashionable awards night as the men chose to play it safe with this colour. Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Manoj Bajpayee, Arjun Kapoor, Sahil Sangha, Ali Zafar, Ramesh Sippy, Boney Kapoor, Anu Malik, Siddharth Malhotra, Marc Robinson, Bhushan Kumar and Siddharth Roy Kapur are a few names who made black look anything but boring.

Karan ohar chose to do it a bit differently as he looked smart in a black and white suit. Complimenting the look was Jackky Bhagnani who chose to move away from being fully dressed in black. Anurag Basu kept it simple and traditional with his Indian attire, dressed in a blue kurta, off white jacket and stole. He could have dressed better for this one considering it was important night for the Barfi! director.

Like the men, Parineeti too chose to play it safe in a simple, boring black sleeveless dress. Chairwoman of the Miss World Organization Julia Morley looked resplendent in high black trousers and sequin black jacket. She entered with Marc Robinson and the Miss World 2012 title winner. Ileana D'Cruz who won the best female debut award for Barfi! dressed to kill in a Cavalli. Priyanka Chopra carried her sea-blue Armani gown perfectly. Thumbs up for this one. Anushka Sharma who walked away with the best supporting female actress award for Jab Tak Hain Jaan looked anorexic in her long flowing yellow gown. Some weight might have added to the dress' charm.

Sridevi looked delicate in a long orange gown that seemed to compliment her figure. But who stole the show was Madhuri Dixit who arrived for the awards function with husband Sriram Nene. Madhuri looked absolutely ravishing in a black Alberto Makali gown.

Pooja Mishra who was also draped in a black dress was heard saying, "I love the black lady, so I am dressed in black". Alia Bhatt got it all right with a Manish Malhotra creation. Simple, traditional yet beautiful! Her Student of the Year co-star Varun Dhawan clearly stood out from the crowd as he looked dapper in an Archana Walvekar creation. The maroon coloured jacket added the spark to his personality.

Huma Qureshi wore a blue Varun Behl creation that somehow missed the mark. Vidya Balan aka Mrs. Siddharth Roy Kapur stuck to her favourite designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee with a cheqeured saree with just a hint of colour. Rekha was amongst the show stealers with her traditional south Indian saree. Age just does not catch up with her! Yami Gautam looked delectable in a Tarun Tahiliani designed lehenga corset dress.

The disasters of the night included Amrita Rao who seemed to suffer from a Victorian hangover in a white jacket and long flowing purple skirt!Femina Miss India World 2012 Vanya Mishra missed the point at this event with a simple one shoulder black dress and gold motifs. Her LBD failed to create the magic.

This year, only a few celebrities seemed to make it to the list of best dressed. Maybe next year will be more hopeful.

Patna, Jan 22: Actor Kangana Ranaut has expressedher desire to make a movie on Chandragupta, the shepherd-turned-emperor who founded the Maurya dynasty, noting that the film industry has “not done enough justice to our history”.

The national award winner was here to take part in a programme organised by the publishers of a leading Hindi daily where she performed a jig to the tunes of Bhojpuri songs along with actor-turned-politician Ravi Kishan before the duo participated in a question and answer session.  Replying to the questions posed by Kishan, who is also the BJP MP from Gorakhpur, Ranaut on Tuesday said it was her second trip to Bihar.

“The last time, I was here as a child though I have not yet got a chance to explore the state with which I feel a connect as my Yoga teacher has his roots here,” she said.

Ranaut, who won acclaim for portraying Rani Laxmibai, the valiant queen of Jhansi who took on the British during the revolt of 1857 -- in ‘Manikarnika’, when asked if she would like to be associated with a film on any historical figure from Bihar, said, “It would be Chandragupta Maurya. The film industry has not done much justice to our history”.

A self-confessed admirer of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the 32-year-old, who has won three National Awards in the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress categories, replied in the affirmative when asked about reports that she has turned producer and her first venture is based on the theme of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

The Himachal Pradesh-born actress, who has courted controversy for taking on well-entrenched Bollywood “insiders” like Karan Johar and Hrithik Roshan, said she has had a rebellious streak since childhood and shared an anecdote about her breaking her teacher’s stick upon being hit for chatting with a classmate in school.

When Kishan asked why she has gained so much weight, Ranaut replied it was in preparation for her upcoming biopic “Thalaivi”, based on late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

The actress said her forthcoming release “Panga” is a family drama.

Ranaut said after landing in Patna, she gorged on ‘Litti Chokha’, a local delicacy.

She also regaled the audience by greeting them in Bhojpuri and repeating several commonly used phrases of the dialect after Kishan.

Los Angeles, Jan 27: Lil Nas X, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and... Michelle Obama?

Yep.

The former first lady can now add Grammy winner to her resume, after snagging the award on music's biggest night for Best Spoken Word Album, for the audiobook of her memoir Becoming.

Her win on Sunday gives the Obama household its third Grammy: former president Barack Obama has already snagged two Grammys in the same category for his books.

She faced an eccentric group of rivals that included Michael Diamond and Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys for Beastie Boys Book and John Waters, the director-performer known for his transgressive cult films, for Mr. Know-It-All.

Released in late 2018, Becoming saw the former first lady slam U.S. president Donald Trump for questioning her husband's citizenship and promoting the notion that he was born abroad.

"The whole [birther] thing was crazy and mean-spirited, of course, its underlying bigotry and xenophobia hardly concealed," Obama wrote.

America's first black first lady also dug into her personal life in her book, expounding on issues including a miscarriage, using in-vitro fertilization to conceive her daughters and marriage counseling.
