Mumbai, Jun 24: A Mumbai court on Monday rejected actor Salman Khan's plea in the 2002 hit-and-run case. Salman Khan will now be tried for culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the case.
Rejecting Salman Khan's plea, Mumbai sessions court has given the actor a month's time to appear before it. If convicted the actor faces a 10-year jail term.
The actor had challenged a magistrate court's order that said there is enough proof to charge the actor with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
One person was killed and four others were injured when the Land Cruiser allegedly driven by Salman Khan crushed a group of people sleeping on the pavement outside a bakery in suburban Bandra in early hours on September 28, 2002.
