Mumbai, Jul 4: Actress Madhuri Dixit, who ruled 80's and 90's, feels that contrary to the perception that her contemporary actresses are faded in oblivion they are in fact going strong even today.

The 'dhak dhak' girl, whose item song 'Ghagra' with Ranbir Kapoor is topping the charts of late, is one of the judges in the dance reality show 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa'and has two films 'Gulab Gang', and 'Dedh Ishqiya' in her hand.

Even though actors Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn--all in their 40's--are ruling Bollywood even today, heroines who starred opposite them in their heydays are either faded away from arc lights or content with character roles but Madhuri believes it is not the case.

"It is great to see all actors up there. They all have worked hard. Juhi Chawla, Kajol, Sridevi all are doing wonderful work today. One should not generalise that actresses of our times are not around, it is not right.

"All these ladies are doing good work. They are going strong. They are making their own space," the actress said.

Even after her marriage with US-based Dr Shriram Nene in 1999, Madhuri continued to act in films.

"I have always worked. Even after getting married and going there (US) I did 'Devdas', 'Lajja', 'Pukar', 'Hum Tumhare Hai Sanam', 'Aaja Nach Le', 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa'. I did a lot of work after marriage. So it was not that I left and went. I have always been here," she said.

Madhuri dismissed reports that she will be performing a special song in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming magnum opus 'Ram Leela' with Ranveer Singh.

"Nobody has approached me for the song. And there is no talk about it. I don't know from where these stories are coming from," she said.

Madhuri is excited about the first look of her upcoming film 'Gulab Gang' which will be unveiled at the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) to be held in Macau.

She will be attending the event post her shoot for 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa'.

When asked whether she will be doing some intimate scenes with actor Naseeruddin Shah in upcoming film 'Dedh Ishqiya', a sequel to 2010 hit 'Ishqiya', the 46-year-old replied cautiously.

"I will do things that I am comfortable with. When people will see the film they will know," she said.

Madhuri is portraying the role of Begum Para in Abhishek Choubey's directorial venture 'Dedh Ishqiya', which is said to be different from the one played by Vidya Balan in 'Ishqiya'.

Also, the first part was peppered with expletives used by Vidya but in the second installation is learnt to have struck out cuss words from dialogues.

"My character does not need to do all that (use cuss words or foul language). She is a begum and she won't be talking in that sort of a language," Madhuri said.

New Delhi, Apr 23: As the holy month of Ramzan is about to begin, several Muslim public figures on Thursday appealed to the community to offer tarawih and hold iftar inside their homes and follow the lockdown regulations imposed to tackle the coronavirus threat.

Television actor Iqbal Khan in a video message appealed to the people to not step out of their houses during Ramzan.

"This time around, whatever you do during Ramzan, you have to do it inside your houses. Do not visit mosques; offer tarawih (late evening prayers offered during Ramzan) at your homes. Your stepping outside will not only put you in a problem but may put your family members in trouble also," said Khan.

"And that will be wrong, do not go outside. If anyone says you have to go outside then they are wrong. Stay home and stay safe and help others stay safe too," he added.

Another TV actor and Tik Tok star Jannat Zubair asked people to avoid any kind of social gatherings so as to ensure the safety of everyone.

"I know we are in a difficult situation but there is no need to panic. We will overcome this and things will be fine. The holy month of Ramzan is going to start, please stay home, offer prayers at your homes and avoid family/friends gatherings for now. It is just a matter of time, things will be fine soon. Stay home and stay safe," she said.
Ramzan is likely to begin from April 24.

Mumbai,  Aug 4: BJP leader Narayan Rane on Tuesday claimed that Sushant Singh Rajput did not "commit suicide" and alleged that the actor was murdered.

He also alleged that the Maharashtra government is trying to save someone.

Addressing a press conference here, Rane said: "Sushant Singh Rajput did not commit suicide. He was murdered. Maharashtra government is trying to save someone. It is not paying attention to the case."

Meanwhile, the Bihar government sent a recommendation for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry in the case filed by Rajput's father KK Singh in Patna.

"The State Government has sent a recommendation for CBI inquiry in the case filed by Late Shri Sushant Singh Rajput's father, Shri KK Singh, related to the death of Late Sushant Singh Rajput in Patna," Chief Minister Nitish Kumar tweeted.

Earlier, KK Singh had revealed that he had filed a complaint with Mumbai police in February claiming his son's life was in danger. The revelation came as he filed an FIR with Patna police, alleging Mumbai police of inaction even after 40 days of the actor's sudden death.

In a self-made video, Singh alleged that the accused in the actor's death case is on the loose and Patna Police should be provided with help.

"On February 25, I informed Bandra Police that the life of my son Sushant is in danger. He died on June 14 and I asked them to act against people named in my Feb 25 complaint.

No action has been taken even 40 days after his death. So, I filed FIR in Patna. Patna Police swung into action. But the accused is running away(on the loose). Patna Police should be given help. I thank Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his colleague Sanjay Jha who gave support to the truth in this hour of grief," he said.

After the actor's demise on June 14, he asked the police to take action against the people named in the complaint given by him on February 25, said Singh, adding that no action has been taken.

An FIR was filed by Patna Police against actor Rhea Chakraborty in the Rajput's death case under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including abetment of suicide. Bihar Police started the investigation and dispatched a team to Mumbai.

Earlier, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh condemned the demand for Sushant Singh Rajput's death case to be handed over to the CBI.
