Men in my family are completely against marriage: Sonam Kapoor

July 31, 2013

Sonam_KapoorMumbai, Jul 31: Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor says men in her family, including her father Anil Kapoor, do not believe in marriage and are completely against it.

"My father doesn't believe in marriage, he thinks that it's a very old-fashioned concept. The men in my family are completely against marriage. So whoever has to marry me has to go through like six brothers and a father," she told reporters here at the cover-launch of the latest Stardust issue, in which she is featured with actor Imran Khan.

Her reaction comes in the wake of recent reports that Anil Kapoor's younger daughter Rhea was set to tie the knot her boyfriend Karan Boolani next month.

However, dismissing the reports, Sonam said her sister was still a "baby" and was not getting married any time soon.

"In one month, she (Rhea) is starting another film and Karan is actually directing it, so I think people got confused between making a film and getting married. Fortunately for me my sister is not getting married, because I like her in the house," she said.

According to Sonam, Rhea will not marry for the next 5-6 years, as she is younger than her.

Sonam also clarifies she won't date anyone from the industry. "I don't like the idea of involving work and pleasure," she adds. There were rumours of Sonam dating director Punit Malhotra.

Even though Sonam is looked upon as a fashionista, in her upcoming film she won't be showing her glamorous side.

"There won't be any fashionable side (in Yash Raj film's next), because I am not going to play Sonam Kapoor onscreen. I am going to wear western clothes though. You are going to see me in modern clothes. I will be playing a banker so I will be seen in tailored clothes, jackets and shirts," she added.

The actress finds actor Imran Khan more fashionable than her father.

"I dress my dad up. He is very good with the collars up, he's very 'Munna' and he loves his suits and all...But Imran has his own quirky vibe going. Not because he is my friend, but I really think he is very fashionable," Sonam said.

She seemed quite excited about her yet another project -- 'Khubsoorat', a remake version of 1980-hit film of Hrishikesh Mukherjee.

"I haven't played myself. I have been either a girl from Benaras or from the '60s. I am excited to play myself. It's amazing to play somebody who is so warm and who is trying to change lives and in a way that it's all happiness and sunshine.

"She is a physiotherapist who goes into this house and tries to change people in a way. This is a contemporary way of looking at 'Khubsoorat'," she said.

Sonam insisted that though the film is a remake, the story is not at all the same.

An official remake of 1980 classic comedy is being produced by Sonam's sister Rhea, and will be directed by Shashanka Ghosh of 'Quick Gun Murugan' fame.

Sonam would be reprising Rekha's role while popular Bengali star Prosenjit Chatterjee is stepping into the shoes of legendary actor Ashok Kumar.

New Delhi, Jul 14: Going down the memory lane, late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput's close friend and actor Rhea Chakraborty recalled her memories with the departed actor as Rajput's untimely demise completed one month on Tuesday.

This marks the 'Jalebi' actor's first social media post dedicated to Rajput after his demise.

Chakraborty took to Instagram to post two pictures of herself with the 'Kai Po Che!' actor and complimented the post with a long emotional note.

She began the note by stating how she is "still struggling" to face her emotions and said that she will never come to terms with the actor's demise.

"Still struggling to face my emotions.. an irreparable numbness in my heart. You are the one who made me believe in love, the power of it," she wrote.

"You taught me how a simple mathematical equation can decipher the meaning of life and I promise you that I learnt from you every day. I will never come to terms with you not being here anymore," she added.

Terming Rajput as the "greatest physicist," the 'Mere Dad Ki Maruti' actor then recalled Rajput's passion for astrophysics.

"I know you're in a much more peaceful place now. The moon, the stars, the galaxies would've welcomed "the greatest physicist "with open arms," Chakraborty wrote.

Full of empathy and joy, you could lighten up a shooting star - now, you are one. I will wait for you my shooting star and make a wish to bring you back to me," she added.

Remembering the bond that she shared with him, Rhea wrote, "You were everything a beautiful person could be, the greatest wonder that the world has seen. My words are incapable of expressing the love we have and I guess you truly meant it when you said it is beyond both of us."

"You loved everything with an open heart, and now you've shown me that our love is indeed exponential," she added.

The 28-year-old actor ended the note by stating how she will love Rajput for a "lifetime."

"Be in peace Sushi. 30 days of losing you but a lifetime of loving you....Eternally connected. To infinity and beyond," she wrote.

Chakraborty and Rajput were close friends and were also set to share the screen space in the film 'Happy Anniversary.'

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai residence on June 14. The investigation in the case related to Rajput's demise is currently underway for which Chakraborty was also interrogated by Mumbai Police.

Bengaluru, Jun 9: There’s no denying the fact that Sudeep is one of the most popular and sought-after names in Kannada cinema. The versatile actor has won the love of fans due to his ‘pan-India’ look and impressive selection of roles. A self-made star, he paid his dues before making it big in Sandalwood. The Bachchan actor had, some time ago, told Film Companion that his initial years in the industry were anything but easy.

The mass hero revealed that his first two movies never saw the light of the day as they were abandoned midway. Following the setback, he finally made his Kannada debut with V Umakanth’s Thayavva and began a new chapter in life. Sadly, the film sank without a trace and was removed from theatres within three days of its release.

“My first two films did not see the light of the day while the third one did not see people,” he added.

Sudeep ultimately tasted success with the 2001 release Huchcha and the rest is history. Over the years, ‘Deepanna’ has starred in several commercially successful movies and proved that he is a certified ‘A-lister’. The star has also made an impact in non-Kannada movies like Rann and Eega, expanding his fanbase big time.

Coming to the present, Sudeep was last seen in the Bollywood biggie Dabangg 3 that did decent business at the box office. The actioner saw him share screen space with Salman Khan, giving fans a reason to rejoice. The cast included Arbaaz Khan and Sonakshi Sinha.

He will be turning his attention to the Kannada biggie Kotigobba 3, the third instalment of the Kotigobba series. The film, directed by Shiva Karthik, is one of the biggest movies of the year. It features Shraddha Das, Madonna Sabastian and Aftab Shivdasani in key roles.  He  will also be seen in the Anup Bhandari-directed Phantom.
