It takes conviction to what I do: Shah Rukh Khan

August 5, 2013

Shah_Rukh_KhanGurgaon, Aug 5: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan feels the kind of roles he portrays onscreen, be it an action hero or a hopeless romantic, needs a strong conviction to impress his fans.

The 47-year-old actor has completed two decades in Bollywood and given blockbusters like "Darr", "Baazigar", "Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge", "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai", "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" among others.

"I think I am only an actor. I make my job look very easy. But let me tell you it is the most difficult thing to do even after 20 years. I stand in a scene and make it look simple. But sometimes, it takes nine takes to make that happen. Romance and real emotions are easy but unreal emotions are difficult," said Shah Rukh at a promotional event for his upcoming film "Chennai Express" here.

The action-comedy, directed by Rohit Shetty, will see the actor opposite him "Om Shanti Om" co-star Deepika Padukone. The film will mark the first collaboration between SRK and Shetty.

"I like Rohit's sense of humour. I like his film 'Golmaal', 'All the Best'. His sense of humour is madcap and crazy. After 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' last year, I wanted to do a comedy. Rohit first approached me with the script of 'Angoor' remake.

"My mother and I loved the cult comedy. When he was leaving after the meeting, he said that he had one more script ('Chennai Express') which he wrote for some other actor. But after hearing it, I found the script interesting and ended up doing it," he said.

The film will hit theatres on August 9.

"Chennai Express" also has a promotional song, dedicated to Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, sung by rapper Honey Singh. The actors shot the song on the last day of their shoot.

"The 'Lungi Dance' song came much later. Honey is a sweet guy from Delhi. I didn't know him before and had not heard his music.

"We shot the song on the last day of our shot. It took 18 hours to shoot that three minute video. But I am very happy and it has helped the film. I spoke to Rajini sir's daughter. She is very happy with the song and so I am," he said.

However, Shah Rukh, who is known as the King of Romance in Bollywood, said he does not like love stories and rather likes to watch action films.

"I don't like love stories. I can do love stories but I can't watch them. I can watch action and comedy. Similarly, I don't think I am the best lover in the world. But I do have a loving nature that extend to my films also," he said.

Asked what he would like to do next, the "Ra One" star said, "Now, I want to do a really bad character. But I will not get it. I am beginning 'Happy New Year' with Farah Khan by next month and I will wait till December but when I won't find the negative character, I will find something else," he said.

Jun 8: The Shiv Sena has sought to take a different stand on Bollywood actor Sonu Sood’s help in ferrying migrants back home in the midst of the nationwide lockdown induced by the coronavirus pandemic. On Sunday evening, the actor met Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray at his residence ‘Matoshree’. The CM’s son and Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray and MLA Aslam Shaikh were also present during the meeting.

Sonu Sood’s visit to the Shiv Sena supremo’s residence came after Sanjay Raut, one of the most vocal leaders of the party, criticised the actor and sought to draw a BJP link to his help to migrants in order to show the ruling dispensation in poor light.

“Sood is an actor whose profession is to deliver dialogues scripted by someone else and make a living out of it. There are many people like Sood who would promote any political party if paid well,” Raut wrote in Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamna.

Referring to the actor’s help to migrants, Raut wondered if the sudden generosity of “Mahatma” Sood in Mumbai was at BJP’s behest and said that he would “soon meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and become the celebrity manager of Mumbai.”

As Raut’s remarks fuelled a controversy in political circles, Aaditya Thackeray tweeted in praise of Sood in an apparent attempt to distance the party and its leadership from the leader’s remarks.

“This evening Sonu Sood met up with Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray ji along with Minister Aslam Shaikh ji and me. Better Together, Stronger Together to assist as many people through as many people. Good to have met a good soul to work for the people together.”

“The CM was glad to meet Sonu Sood and discussed the work everyone is doing for the people during covid relief. Misunderstandings don’t exist but what does is a commitment to help people,” Aaditya tweeted.

Sonu Sood too sought to downplay Raut’s remarks and expressed gratitude to all political parties for having supported him. “They (Shiv Sena) are also supporting it and it’s not about any particular party. We have to support all the people who are suffering. Every party from Kashmir to Kanya Kumari has supported me,” the actor told reporters after his meeting with the Chief Minister.

Sonu Sood has earned immense praise for providing help to stranded migrant workers during the Covid-19 lockdown. He has launched a helpline for migrants and has helped hundreds of migrants return to their native places in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Karnataka.

Washington D.C., Jan 16: Barbara Broccoli, who has since long been the producer of the James Bond franchise, recently clarified in an interview that the 007 character won't be played by a woman in the forthcoming rendition.

Broccoli, accompanied by her half brother and fellow producer Michael G. Wilson, told Variety: "He can be of any color, but he is male."

She went on to say: "I believe we should be creating new characters for women -- strong female characters. I'm not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it. I think women are far more interesting than that."

According to Fox News, the current Bond hero, Daniel Craig, announced last November that he would cease to play the legendary character once he is done with the upcoming 'No Time To Die' movie that is scheduled for release in coming April.

Commenting on Daniel parting ways with the franchise, Broccoli said: "I'm in total denial. I've accepted what Daniel has said, but I'm still in denial. It's too traumatic for me."

Fox News reported last July that the British Actress Lashana Lynch could possibly star in the 2020 Bond flick, but such speculations were dispelled once the trailer for the movie was brought out last December.
