Salman Khan's lookalike to do Pakistani film

August 6, 2013

Salman_KhanNext time Salman Khan needs a body double, he may want to look in Pakistan. Sialkot resident Hasnain Saleem is kicking up a storm on the Internet these days with his uncanny resemblance to the star who has a considerable following in the country.

In the videos, Hasnain, not only looks like a younger Sallu, but walks the talk as well. With Salluswagger and biceps screaming for attention, Hasnain is seen hitting the streets of his town, winning admiring and curious glances from Sallu's Pakistani fans. Some unsuspecting folks even shake hands with and pose with him, creating their own fanboy moments. In fact a TV channel even ran a small feature on Hasnain introducing him thus, "You don't need to go to India if you want to meet Salman Khan, the superstar."

Not many are impressed with Hasnain's Sallu act. A source from Pakistan film industry tells us, "This guy has taken his physical similarity with Salman rather too seriously. He recently changed his haircut to make the physical resemblance complete. He apes him - he has started walking and talking like Salman."

Leading distributor in Pakistan, Juhi Chawla's uncle Satish Anand, who is distributing Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Dobara, said, "There is no buzz about this Salman duplicate. Nobody is taking him seriously. At best, he may clinch a cameo. Duplicates come and go. Your star faces no threat - serious or otherwise from him."

Hasnain may not have impressed the film fraternity there, but he is not short of female fans. Says our source, "Girls have been calling up his mother and asking for him. She is too embarrassed to even talk about her son's antics. Not that they are not enjoying it, but it seems that Hasnain is now harbouring acting aspirations."

In fact, Amjad Rasheed, who is distributing Chennai Express in Pakistan, did not write off Hasnain. In fact, buzz is he is on the verge of casting Hasnain in a lead role soon. "That's right. I am making a film which Shagufta Rafique (writer, Woh Lamhe, Murder 2 and Ashiqui -2) will direct and Hasnain is a contender for the top role. Let's see how he shapes out."

However Rasheed did not spell out if Hasnain will play himself... or... er... Salman... or some other character altogether.

Meanwhile: The real Sallu of Galaxy Apartments has had a minor setback. His mega show with his ex Katrina Kaif, scheduled to be held in Chicago in August has been postponed. The organiser in question, Sudesh Sonawane, confirmed that he has postponed the show which was supposed to star Prabhu Dheva as well. "We had also invited Abbas Mustan as chief guests. But I guess, we'll have to wait for the big moment. I want to make the show bigger and better whenever I do it," he said. Buzz is, the delay was caused as Sallu has been denied a US visa. But it could not be confirmed at the time of going to press.

Washington, Jun 11: Music maestro AR Rahman has joined the international film 'No Land's Man' as co-producer and composer.

Helmed by renowned Bangladeshi filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, the upcoming movie has Indian thespian Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Australian theatre actor Megan Mitchell, and Bangladeshi musician and actor Tahsan Rahman Khan in pivotal roles.

"Time always gives birth to new worlds, new ideals. The newborn world has new challenges and new stories to tell. This is one such story," Variety quoted Rahman as saying.

The movie chronicles the life of a South Asian, whose journey gets complicated when he meets an Australian woman in the U.S.

The film, shot in the U.S., Australia and India, is predominantly in English with some dialogue in Hindi and Urdu.

'Sacred Games' actor, Siddique said: "The filming experience for this project was challenging but a fulfilling one. AR Rahman's brilliance will definitely make the film richer."

"Farooki and I first spoke about 'No Land's Man' at Film Bazaar in 2014. Between then and now, the film has become even more relevant as it looks at what it means to be a vulnerable person in a racially-divided world," producer Srihari Sathe said.

'No Land's Man' won the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) and Asia Pacific Screen Awards' Script Development fund in 2014. It was part of the Asian Project Market at Busan and was chosen as the best project at India's Film Bazaar the same year.

Earlier in January, Siddiqui posted multiple pictures on Instagram with the team of the flick, marking the schedule wrap in New York and Sydney for 'No Land's Man.'

He also captioned the post as: "Wonderful experience with the most energetic team."

Mumbai, Jun 19: The Mumbai Police, probing the   case of alleged suicide of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, has sent a letter to Yash Raj Films, seeking details of the contracts it had signed with him, an official said on Friday.

Rajput, 34, known for films like Kai Po Che!, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Chhichhore, was found hanging in his Bandra apartment on Sunday, sending shockwaves in the film industry and elsewhere.

"Police are investigating various angles, including that of professional rivalry, in the case," the official said. So far, Bandra police have recorded the statements of over 13 people, including Rajput's family members and close friends like actor Rhea Chakraborty and casting director Mukesh Chhabra.

"Keeping in view the professional angle, police have started calling some prominent production houses for inquiry. As part of that, police on Thursday sent a letter to Yash Raj Films, seeking details of all the contracts it had signed with the deceased actor," a senior police officer said.

"We have also asked for the copies of the contracts that Yash Raj Films had signed with the actor," he added.

In the next few days, police may also call those people, who had played a role in signing of contracts between the actor and the production houses for their projects, the officer said.

Rajput had worked in two Yash Raj Films movies - Shuddh Desi Romance (2013) directed by Maneesh Sharma and in director Dibakar Banerjee directed Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! (2015).

His third film with the banner was supposed to be Paani, directed by Shekhar Kapur. However, YRF had reportedly backed out of the project later.
