Aishwarya Rai Bachchan won’t make a comeback

August 18, 2013

Aishwarya_RaiAug 18: There were rumors that Aishwarya was approached by Sanjay Leela Bhansali for doing a special song in his upcoming movie ‘Ram Leela’. But now it seems that Bhansali is not keen on taking Aishwarya and has roped in somebody else for the dance number.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali was asked about it. He said, “First it was Sonakshi Sinha, then Madhuri Dixit. Now it's Aishwarya. None of the three rumours has any truth to it.”

He did not divulge the details but said further, “All the rumours surrounding who has been approached for the special song are utterly ridiculous and nowhere close to true...We have already finalised a very big name and we will be shortly making an announcement of the same. Hope this puts rumours to rest.”

Aishwarya has worked with Bhansali in ‘Hum Dil DeChuke Sanam’, ‘Devdas’ and ‘Guzaarish’.

Aishwarya took a break from movies while she was on family’s way in 2010. She had put on lots of weight during her pregnancy. She then gradually reduced but is still continuing her sabbatical break.

A source close to Aishwarya said, “At the moment Aaradhya (Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan's daughter) is Ash's one and only priority. Yes, she is slowly looking at scripts again, and some very good ones. But you know what? She gets tempted, and then again she decides now is not the time. She doesn't want to miss out a single moment in Aaradhya's growing-up years.”

The source also revealed that Aishwarya Rai is showing interest in the remake of 1983 released movie ‘Masoom’. The movie will be directed by Bedabrata Pain and produced by Himesh Reshammiya. Aishwarya is showing interest as the makers of this movie are willing to adjust the schedule according to her convenience.

On being asked about Aishwarya’s item song for ‘Ram Leela’, the source said, “But an item song? No way.”

‘Ram Leela’ is a Hindi romantic movie, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The lead actors of the movie are Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. The movie is based on the epic love story of Romeo and Juliet. The love story was set during violent times. The movie will be released on 15th November.

Sanjay had problem finalizing the female lead cast of the movie. He wanted to cast Kareena Kapoor. But Kareena backed out citing monetary and date issues. Then, the movie was offered to Priyanka Chopra who also withdrew due to unknown reason. Finally Deepika was signed for the movie.

Mumbai, Jan 9: A day after Deepika Padukone visited the JNU campus to express solidarity with students who had been attacked, her film "Chhapaak" made another splash on Wednesday over the name of its antagonist.

While Deepika was the focus of many a discussion on social media and beyond for showing up at a public meeting in the university, the film, based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, was also making news for quite another reason.

In what could well be a storm in a 'Twitter cup', "Nadeem Khan" and "Rajesh" began trending on the microblogging site after a magazine article claimed the name of the antagonist had been changed. By 4 pm, 'Nadeem Khan' clocked close to 60,000 tweets and 'Rajesh' close behind with 50,000.

In 2005, Laxmi was disfigured for life when a man called Nadeem Khan and three others allegedly hurled acid at her in Delhi's upscale Khan Market.

In the film based on her life, the narrative remains the same but the names have been changed. So, Laxmi is 'Malti' Agarwal and Nadeem becomes 'Babboo' aka 'Bashir Khan'.

On Wednesday, Swarajya magazine wrote an article headlined, "The Ways Of Bollywood: In Deepika Padukone-Starer Chhapaak, Acid Attacker Naeem Khan Becomes ‘Rajesh'." "As part of a backlash against Padukone's JNU 'meet and greet', social media users researched the names of the characters involved in the movie Chhapaak and conspicuously found the name of main perpetrator Naeem Khan absent," the article alleged.

But in the Meghna Gulzar directed film, there is no mention of any Nadeem or Naeem Khan. Moreover, Rajesh is the name of Malti's boyfriend.

Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Babul Supriyo jumped into the controversy, saying it was another example of "absolute hypocrisy".

"...When you say all characters are fictitious and don't have any resemblance with living beings and all of that, this is absolute hypocrisy. When you change the name which also changes the religion, it has been done very deliberately," Supriyo told a TV channel when asked to comment on the controversy.

South Delhi BJP MP Ramesh Biduri also called for a boycott of the movie.

With Deepika grabbing attention by going to JNU, many appreciated her 'silent solidarity' but others criticised her for "supporting the Leftists" and said it was a promotional stunt ahead of the release.

"#BoycottChhapaak" was trending on Twitter as was "#ISupportDeepika".

Mumbai, Jan 9: Actor Juhi Chawla on Wednesday said instead of constantly criticising the government, one should reflect on own conduct and talk about uniting rather than dividing.

The actor attended an event which aimed to counter "Free Kashmir (narrative), anti-India slogans, false propaganda and clear the misconception."

Juhi said as artistes, it's unfair to be questioned about incidents "just for a reaction" when they should be given time to truly understand the situation.

"We are going to work, thinking how to execute our task, then some incident happens somewhere and suddenly the media asks, 'what do you think about this?' We haven't understood the matter, people haven't understood the matter but you need a reaction.

"Let people understand, whether it's NRC or CAA, and what's is it about, why is this being talked about," Juhi told reporters.

The actor said it is sad that people talk about division more than unity.

"Everyone is quick to talk about dividing. Why don't we talk about uniting? Why does everyone say 'what is the government doing, why is it doing this?' but I say if you point one finger there then three fingers are at you.

New Delhi, Jan 9: A Delhi court Thursday directed the makers of the Deepika Padukone starer feature film 'Chhapaak' to give credit to acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal’s lawyer in the movie.

Additional Civil Judge Pankaj Sharma said it was necessary that advocate Aparna Bhat's contribution is acknowledged.

"This Court is of the considered view that facts are indicative that the plea of the plaintiff for interim injunction is well-founded and it is necessary that her contribution be acknowledged by providing on the slide on the actual footage and the images, the line 'Aparna Bhat continues to fight the cases of sexual and physical violence against women' during the screening of the film.

"The said line on screen maybe with a rider that the same is with the court order," the judge said.

Advocate Bhat filed the application saying that despite representing Agarwal in courts for several years and helping in the movie-making, she was not given credit in the movie.

She said the filmmakers took her help in the entire process of writing and shooting the movie, but did not give the credit.
