Racial slurs fail to stop the new Miss America

Nina_DavuluriNew Jersey, Sep 18: Unfazed by racial slurs hurled at her, the newly crowned Miss America of Indian origin, Nina Davuluri, took a traditional dip in Atlantic City waters.

"I'm just really so honoured," the 24-year-old said during a live video appearance on ABC's 'Good Morning America yesterday, right before she dipped her toes into the Atlantic City waters for waiting photographers.

"I always viewed myself as first and foremost American," said Nina, reacting to racial taunts in various social media in the aftermath of her victory.

"Welcome home, Miss America!" she said, standing barefoot in the shallow surf, wearing a lime green Miss America T-shirt and white shorts.

The dark-haired beauty, a native of Syracuse in New York, said she had teared up the night before during her high-energy performance of a Bollywood dance during the talent portion of the competition, the New York Daily News reported.

"Halfway through I just started crying. It was such an incredible experience knowing my friends and family were watching. It was so meaningful and powerful," she said.

She, however, faced racial abuse as detractors lit up Twitter and other social media right after she was crowned Miss America, but Nina said she wasn't fazed by the criticism of her Indian heritage.

Nina, who wants to be a doctor like her father, will tomorrow meet former Miss America Vanessa Williams, the first black woman to win the pageant.

Mumbai, Aug 7: Bhojpuri actress Anupama Pathak has died allegedly by suicide in Dahisar East, her Mumbai residence on August 2.

The police have recovered a suicide note.

Initially, an accidental death case was registered which was later converted into FIR under section 306 (abetment of suicide) of IPC against a person and a company, the police said.

Further investigation by Mumbai's Kashimira Police is underway.

New Delhi, Aug 4: Almost two months after the demise of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, actor Preity Zinta on Tuesday watched his last film 'Dil Bechara' for the second time and said it was an 'emotional roller coaster'.

The 'Kal Ho Na Ho' actor shared a picture of one of the scenes from the film on Instagram and thanked film director Mukesh Chhabra for doing justice to the 'Kai Po Che!' actor's last film.

"Saw #Dilbechara again Thank you @castingchhabra for doing full justice to Sushant's last movie," she wrote in the caption.
"It was surreal, a tearjerker and an emotional roller coaster all the way," she added.

She also praised Sushant's co-actor Sanjana Sanghi for doing a "fab job" in the film which happens to be her debut flick.

"@sanjanasanghi96 U and the rest of the cast did a fab job. Congratulations to all of you. #Bittersweet #MissU," the 45-year-old actor further wrote.

Produced by Fox Star Studios, 'Dil Bechara' has been adapted from the famous John Green novel 'The Fault In Our Stars.'

Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai's Bandra residence on June 14.

Washington, Mar 26: American media personality Kylie Jenner has donated 1 million USD to fight against the COVID-19 outbreak.
Dr Thais Aliabadi shared the same in an Instagram post on Wednesday, "One of my patients, a beautiful Living Angel just donated $1,000,000 to help us buy hundreds of thousands of masks, face shields, and other protective gear which we will have delivered directly to our first responders, as too many masks at hospitals are disappearing before making their way onto the faces of our front line heroes."

According to Page Six, a representative for Jenner confirmed that the 22-year-old star has made the contribution, and said, "I can confirm that she did make the donation."
Now, thanks to Jenner's generosity, Aliabadi will be able to disperse the hundreds of thousands of various necessary essentials needed to combat the dissemination of COVID-19.
The doctor issued huge gratitude and thanks to the Kylie Cosmetics founder and said that she has "never felt more blessed to be a doctor."
Dr Aliabadi was on-hand to deliver Jenner's daughter, Stormi, according to TMZ.
Kylie reciprocated the doctor's kind words by replying to Dr Aliabadi's thank-you post, she wrote, "I love you! and thank YOU for all the love and care you put into everything that you do! You're an angel on earth."
Last Week, Jenner pleaded in an Instagram post, "The coronavirus is a real thing, "I listened to the Surgeon General this morning... he definitely encouraged me to come on here and talk to you guys."
