I am not the second heroine of 'Krrish 3': Kangana Ranaut

October 19, 2013
Kangana_RanautMumbai, Oct 19: Actress Kangana Ranaut does not prefer being called the second female lead in her upcoming superhero film 'Krrish 3', which also stars Priyanka Chopra.

"If you are talking about a second heroine role, then it sounds very disappointing. It makes me feel that I have done nothing good to deserve something good in life. She is not a regular girl... She is a mutant and is an important part of the film. This is definitely not a two heroine film. We both are not fighting for the boy," Kangana said.

Kangana had initially rejected 'Krrish 3' primarily because of her bitter experience with 'Kites'. Also, she was concerned about the length of her role as opposed to co-actress Priyanka Chopra in the film.

"Keeping the experience of 'Kites' in mind, I was very concerned. The film I was narrated did not come out to be the same on-screen. But that was a different director's film and Rakesh Roshan is the director of 'Krrish 3'... He said he was not part of 'Kites' and he was hardly involved in it," Kangana said.

"I got convinced and he is a man of his words and he did exactly what he had promised me," she said.

Even though Priyanka plays the role of a wife to Hrithik in the film, Kangana is also seen romancing him.

"This is another love story and its tricky. I am glad that these people came up with such songs. There is no other way of promoting films in India than having a song, so you show a mutant and a superhero romance each other. Hrithik has three roles in the film and you don't know who is romancing who," she added.

I am the heroine of Krrish 3, not Kangana: Priyanka

priyanka_chopraMumbai, Oct 18: Actress Priyanka Chopra insists she is the heroine of 'Krrish 3', which also stars Kangana Ranaut. Kangana had initially turned down the film as she was concerned about sharing screen space with Priyanka. Earlier, Jacqueline Fernandez, Chitrangada Singh, had similar concerns and they rejected the film.

"A lot of girls rejected that role. It is really stupid to do it as it is an amazing role. I am the heroine of the film, I am playing wife of Hrithik and that is how it is," Priyanka said in an interview here. Priyanka feels Kangana's role is also quite interesting and if she had the opportunity, she would have even taken it up.

"Her character is credible, it is an amazing role and if I had the opportunity I would have done it. I had told Rakesh sir I am ready to play that part, as everybody was saying no to doing it," Priyanka said.

"I am happy Kangana has done the role, she has done an amazing job. She is looking fabulous and it is a new thing for Hindi cinema," she said.

This is not the first time that Priyanka is sharing screen space with another actress."In my first two films I came right after interval and before climax. I have learnt that the film does not run because of the length of your role but because it is a good film. I have done many two-heroine films. For me it doesn't matter, I have always thought of how good I can be in this role, what impact I am leaving in my role," Priyanka said.

"In this film I am the heroine of the film. Her character is also very interesting. In one film there can be various characters... if the film works then it works for me, Hrithik, Vivek and Kangana. If it doesn't work and I am the most important person in the film, then what is the point as eventually the film did not work," she said.

There were reports that all was not well between the two actresses and they were not going to share same platform to promote the film.

However, Priyanka rubbished it saying that when people see them together promoting the film, then they would get to know of such reports not being true.

Priyanka will be playing a dual role in the film, but she insists it's not a double role.

"I am not doing a double role but a dual role. I am playing Krrish's wife Priya Mehra as in the last film we left as being lovers. I go from being a good wife to being evil in the film. It is the duality of good and evil that I play which is very interesting," she said.

"When he (Rakesh Roshan) narrated me the script he was super excited about this thing. I had not decided or thought about this," she said.

Priyanka does not have any specific look in the film like her co-actress Kangana.

"There is Vivek's character that is bad and his army of mutants, they are called 'maanvar' which are a mix of human and animal.

There is a chameleon girl played by Kangana, then there is scorpion, cheetah girl, rhino, frog man in it. They are in the army of 'Kaal' (played by Vivek Oberoi) and they are evil. I am normal, I am not part of the mutant space," she explains.

Sci-fi films are primarily about superhero and supervillian but in 'Krrish 3', both Priyanka and Kangana have interesting roles.

"Usually in superhero films girls don't have anything to do, they are just damsels in distress. But in this film, I have duality in the film and even Kangana's character is interesting," Priyanka added.

'Krrish 3' releases on November 1.

Mumbai, Mar 25: Filmmakers and actors, including Karan Johar, Taapsee Pannu and Ayushmann Khurrana, have pledged their support to a new initiative aimed at supporting the daily wage-earners who have been severely affected by the lockdown imposed to combat coronavirus.
The country is witnessing a 21-day lockdown, as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to contain the spread of the virus, which has claimed the lives of over 20,000 people globally.

The initiative, I Stand With Humanity, started by organisations -- the International Association for Human Values, the Art of Living Foundation and the Indian Film and TV Industry, will provide families of daily wage workers with 10 days of essential food supplies.

"I pledge to contribute and support this initiative! This is a situation that needs all our help, love, care and support," Karan posted on Twitter.

Taapsee said everyone must come forward to help the daily wage workers.

"This one for the daily wage workers. Because we need to do our bit for the ones who work with/for us. If not corona, lack of basic food might take them down. Let's help them to get through this," the actor wrote.

Ayushmann described the initiative as "truly noble".

"I vow to support this and contribute. India and Indians are under threat and each one of us have the power to make a difference. Let's support and care for each other as much as we can in this time of crisis. #Istandwithhumanity," he tweeted.

Kiara Advani and Rakul Preet Singh also pledged to contribute towards the initiative.

"Let's contribute! While some of us are safe at home, we can help those struggling right now... donate," Kiara said.

Rakul tweeted, "I support this noble initiative. Happy to contribute for this humanitarian cause. While staying safe at home, I urge every one else also to contribute online."

Actor Varun Sharma said, "I pledge to contribute & support this initiative #iStandWithHumanity"

"In times like these, we need to step up for the ones in need. I'm happy to contribute for this humanitarian cause. And guys whoever can help, you all can also contribute online," actor Sidharth Malhotra tweeted.

Filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari wrote, "There are a lot of daily wage earners who need our help during this tough time. Please help as much as you can. Here's the link to contribute online."

Actor Bhumi Pednekar said it was important to get together and help those who are "vulnerable and in need".

Actor Dia Mirza said, "We are in this together. YES we will help #DailyWageEarners get through this with hope and dignity. I am contributing to this effort and I hope many others in our fraternity will do as well."

Filmmakers Aanand L Rai and Sanjay Gupta have also backed the cause.

"One of the greatest gift a person can give another, is support. I whole heartily support this noble initiative. While staying safe at home, I urge every one else also to contribute online," Aanand tweeted.

Gupta called upon the public to help the daily wage-earners through the initiative.

On March 18, the Producers Guild of India had announced that they have set up a relief fund for daily wage-earners impacted by the shutdown of film, television and web productions amid coronavirus pandemic.

Their decision came after many filmmakers, including Sudhir Mishra, Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, raised concerns over the impact of shutdown on the daily wage workers.

South star Pawan Kalyan announced on Twitter that he will donate Rs 1 crore to PM relief fund.

B N Tiwari, President of Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), however, claimed there has been no help from Bollywood personalities or the Producers Guild of India so far.

"In the South, Rajinikanth has donated Rs 50 lakh which is a great thing. But here, we haven't received any call or help from anyone from Bollywood yet."

"There is one production company called Frames that produces TV shows, they have given ration worth Rs 25 lakh but it is stuck at Navi Mumbai and we haven't been able to give that to workers as they can't come here. We are toying with the idea of taking help of police authorities to give the ration to the workers," Tiwari told news agency.

New Delhi, Jun 19: With the demise of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput stirring a debate on nepotism in the film industry, singer Sonu Nigam on Thursday spoke out on the "mafia" of the Indian music industry.

Nigam shared a 7-minute-long Vlog (video blog) on his YouTube channel where he is seen talking about roadblocks in the career of the newcomers created by big music labels and in turn urged them to be kind.

"I want to request everyone and especially our music companies to be kind because today an actor - Sushant Sigh Rajput - has passed away, tomorrow you can hear the same about a singer or a composer or a lyrics writer because unfortunately there is a bigger mafia in the music industry than the film industry," the 46-year-old musician said.

He then talks about how the young and struggling musicians are distressed because of the monopoly of "only two music companies" in the industry that rule and decide everything.

"I came into the industry years ago and at a younger age so I didn't fall in the trap but this new generation is going through a lot," he said.

"They are distressed because the composer would want to work with them, the producer and director would want to work with them but the music company would say 'no this is not our artist.' This is not right that the power is in just two hands - two music companies only - they will decide who will sing who will not sing," he added.

He then stressed on the fact that he is completely out of the music industry but the situation is very grim for the newcomers.

"I am out of it and neither do I have any wish to sing since the last 15 years, I am very happy in my own world but I have seen the frustration in the eyes, in the voice and in the words of new singers, new composers, new lyric writers," he said.

"They cry and if they attempt suicide you too will have to answer the questions. Be a little kinder please, to the newcomers because they are Gandharva (skilled singers), please be a little easy on them," he added.

Nigam then shared a personal experience and without naming anyone described how a powerful actor from the Bollywood industry had control over the music world too.

"It might happen with me that the song I am singing and the same actor who is being questioned these days would say 'don't make him sing' as he has deals with Arijit Singh. So, how can you use your power like that?" he said.

"You call me, ask me to sing, and then get my song dubbed. This is funny especially because I have been working since 1991 in Bombay, I have been working since 1989 in the music industry and if you do this with me then what will you do with the young generation," he added.

The 'Aal Izz Well' singer ended the Vlog urging the big music labels to be "a little more chill" and humane towards the younger lot and warned that the distress might cause the newcomers to attempt suicide.

"Guys you need to chill a little, be a little humane. Please don't torture the younger ones, please step into their shoes, they need you, they need your help, they need your kindness," he said.

"Even directors and producers are not happy because they are not being allowed to make the music that they wish to. This is not right. Creativity should not be only in two hands. Be kind so that more people do not suicide," he added.

The alleged suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput has led to a lot of controversies in the entertainment industry. The investigations in the matter are still underway.
