Salman Khan has booked Eid, 2015 for release of his Being Human home production two years in advance

November 16, 2013

Salman_Khan_copyMumbai, Nov 16: Until a few years ago, Diwali was the big Bollywood release date. Salman Khan who makes his own rules, decided not to clamour for that release week and opted for Eid day to release his films.

He struck gold, over and over again (Wanted, Bodyguard and Ek Tha Tiger).

So much so that now Eid has become the biggest release week, which most actors are now vying for. Last year, Salman decided not to appear on Eid day making way for Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express which went on to become the biggest money spinner in Hindi cinema, breaking all records. Now Salman wants to claim his Eid date back.

While his film Kick with Sajid Nadiadwala will release on Eid 2014, he has also announced that in 2015, on Eid day, he will release a Being Human production, to be directed by Kabir Khan. The heroine of this film is yet to be finalised.

The date has been synonymous with churning out hit films. His films that release during Eid give enough reasons to other filmmakers to not release their films around that time. After the positive results, Khan and his new director Nadiadwala decided to release their film Kick next year on Eid.

Reveals an insider, “Yes, it’s true, Salman is going to star in his Being Human production and it will be directed by Kabir Khan. Things have fallen into place and he will be coming in Eid 2014 as well as 2015. Why should he give up a date that he makes magic in? All his fans wait for his films on Eid, and he doesn’t want to disappoint them.”

Meanwhile, Salman’s next film Jai Ho, directed by his brother Sohail, releases on January 26, 2014.

Chennai, Jan 15: Superstar Rajinikanth on Tuesday called for neutrality in journalism and urged media outlets to report the truth.

Addressing an event organised by Tamil magazine ''Thuglak' in Chennai, the superstar-turned-politician said that the country needs a journalist like the late Cho S Ramaswamy, who helmed the publication for decades.

"The times, politics and society are going bad. In such a scenario, the media had a huge responsibility towards the people," he said.

Some television channels are biased towards political parties, Rajinikanth said. He added that media, critics and journalists must report the truth impartially.

Comparing true news to milk and fake reportage to water, Rajinikanth said people will not be able to distinguish between the two if they are mixed.

"Only journalists need to tell which portion is milk and which is water...write the truth and don't make a lie seem like truth," he said, amid applause.
