Salman_Khan_fansMumbai, May 8: Bollywood star Salman Khan received another setback to his 2002 hit-and-run case on Tuesday, when three witnesses testified in court that they had seen the actor exiting the vehicle that ran over and killed one man and injured four other people sleeping on the footpath outside a bakery in Mumbai's Bandra neighbourhood.

But no matter what the outcome of the case is, there is one set of people who remain convinced of his innocence: the fans that congregate outside Khan's home in Bandra every evening.

Galaxy Apartments, around the corner from the bakery where Salman Khan lives in a flat below his parents, is located on a wide curve along a seafront street. Adoring fans can safely gather in large groups without fear of being run over, or being defeated by rain or scorching sun. Their only reward is when the actor occasionally emerges on his balcony to wave to the crowds, and when he enters and exits the building.

The more regular fans are remarkably well informed about his whereabouts. One confidently asserted that the actor had been at his Panvel farmhouse for the last few days to avoid attention for the case.

“I have been here for two days,” said Shahi Khan, 16, from Mumbai, who had bunked college to see the man. “People have been saying he won’t come because he is in Panvel. But I have seen him once already a month-and-a-half ago. I hope I can see him again.”

Like the others there, Khan believes staunchly that the actor is innocent “It is a false case,” he said. “He is the best of all the stars and he is the biggest social worker. It cannot be true.”

Sonu Sharma from Delhi is a 26-year-old hairstylist who claimed that every time a new Salman Khan film is released, he would get his hair cut in the style his hero sports on screen. “Dua hoga toh bury karenge case,” he said. God willing, the case will be buried. “See, he did not do it purposely. Mistakes happen.”

“They are only putting a case against him because he is a star,” chipped in Rahul Kumar, 21, also from Delhi. “Had people like us done something similar, they would not have made such a fuss about it.”

Only Mohammed Kamran from “CG”, Chhattisgarh, was willing to accept that if Khan was found guilty, he should have to serve his time. "I am a fan, so I will of course say that he is innocent," he said. "But if bhai has done it, then he must get justice."

Khan inspires fanatical levels of devotion from his supporters across India, but in a true mark of his charmed life, even neighbours he has angered have not stayed so for long.

Around the corner from his building is Chimbai, where the actor’s assistants allegedly harassed resident fishermen because their boats were blocking the view of a bungalow plot Khan had recently bought. Laurence Falcon, who is now 70, owns the plot of land in front of Khan’s bungalow. He has also worked as a liftman in Khan’s building for the last 30 years. Last year, he attempted to file a case against the actor after his men attempted to destroy his nets twice.

“His men destroyed my nets once, twice, I let it go,” said Falcon, who has known Khan since he was a child and even used to take him crab fishing in his boat. “But the third time, I told the police.”

But when Khan’s father, Salim, realised that it was Falcon’s property that was being damaged, he felt very bad, it seems. “The bodyguards gave instructions that anyone who harasses me will immediately lose their job," said Falcon. "Ever since then, he has not troubled me at all.”

"Hello folks. @ritawilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us. We have COVID-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else.

"There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness. We are taking it one-day-at-a-time.There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no?" Hanks posted on Instagram.

The post was accompanied by a photograph that showed the couple smiling.

Hanks announced on Thursday that he and his wife have been tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The actor couple, who is currently in Australia to shoot for the pre-production of Baz Luhrmann's untitled Elvis Presley film, decided to get tested after they felt "a bit tired".

New Delhi, Feb 25: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday gave time to Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to seek instructions on travel ban imposed on comedian Kunal Kamra.

Kamra approached the court against IndiGo which suspended him from flying with the airlines for a period of six months. Other airlines had also followed the suit in pursuance to this.

Justice Naveen Chawla said that the regulatory body should not have certified actions of airlines other than IndiGo to ban Kamra without conducting inquiry. The matter will now be heard on February 27.

Last month, IndiGo had barred the stand-up comedian for six months from using its services for allegedly portraying "unacceptable behaviour" onboard its flight.

The airline claimed that Kamra, while travelling on a Mumbai-Lucknow IndiGo flight, provoked a TV news anchor by asking questions over his news presentation style.

New Delhi, Jun 19: After the recent sudden demise of Sushant Singh Rajput, actor Kangana Ranaut who went public slamming nepotism in the Hindi film industry, has now revealed that she faced similar struggles like that of Sushant.

In a new statement, the "Queen" actor alleged that she was asked to apologise to Hrithik Roshan's family in order to survive. Both Kangana and Hrithik had been in the public spotlight in the year 2016 over their alleged former relationship and legal battle.

The 'Queen' actor said: "Once Javed Akhtar had called me to his house and told me that Rakesh Roshan and his family are very big people. If you don't apologise to them, you will have nowhere to go. They will put you in jail, and eventually, the only path would be that of destruction...you will commit suicide. These were his words. Why did he think if I don't apologise to you will have nowhere to go. They will put you in jail, and eventually, the only path would be that of destruction...you will commit suicide. These were his words. Why did he think if I don't apologise to Hrithik Roshan, I would have to commit suicide? He shouted and yelled at me. I was shaking in his house,"

She further continued, "Were there people calling Sushant? Were there people putting such thoughts into his mind? I have no idea, but obviously, he was in a similar situation. In his interviews, he had said that nepotism cannot co-exist with talent because they don't allow the right talent to come up. I can relate to it, and hence I am raising questions. I want to know who played the catalyst in this situation?"

Kangana adds, "I know Sushant had a big fallout with Aditya Chopra also. When I refused Sultan, he had threatened he would never work with me. Ever since our industry ganged up on me. I remember so many times feeling really lonely and feeling what will happen to me..."

The 'Manikarnika' star also revealed that all this not only happened to her professionally but personally as well it hampered her relationships. "They are very insecure about things. Despite what they did to me, there was a guy who wanted to get married to me. But he distanced himself, they made sure he ran away. With no surety about my career, my love-life completely has gone awry, with six court-cases against me, they're still trying to put me in jail."

Kangana also talked about herself: "I'm a different person; I'm very expressive. I went out there, and I just vented it out. Sushant was not a person like that at all. He just bottled it up. Media too has played a considerable part in this--the kind of monster image that was given to him. Everybody who knew him closely agrees that he was a soft and emotional person. I think that after a point it really got to him. I can understand it because even I have been portrayed as a witch and as a stalker."

Sharing that the bullying and outbursts had a psychological impact on her life situations, Kangana says, "I remember initially when people used to come to my home, I felt so embarrassed to even offer them water. Forget having a relationship or going on a date post the disaster of a relationship I had. I can only imagine that even during Manikarnika what they did to me."

Talking about the 'Kai Po Che' star, she added, "But perhaps he was just not able to vent. In fact, all these constant jibes on these petty show that he should be killed and which rated him as the least efficient... his films have done more business than your Gully Boy. People like Salman Khan said who Sushant Singh Rajput? It was after M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, everybody knew who Sushant was. We need to stop these."
