Dubai: New and expectant mothers thronged Thumbay Hospital Dubai on Saturday, 12th September 2015, to attend the ‘Health & Wellness Event’ conducted by Health magazine, the premier health & lifestyle bimonthly publication of Thumbay Group. The event, titled “Conceiving to Healthy Baby”, was held exclusively for expectant moms and moms with kids less than one year old, and showcased informative talks from experts in maternal and childcare.

The event featured presentations on the topics ‘Preconception to Pregnancy’, ‘The Journey of Childbirth & Postpartum’ and ‘Baby Care’. Each session was followed by a question & answer session. The talks covered a variety of topics including morning sickness, safe sleep, car seat safety, tobacco cessation, child abuse prevention, household safety and first aid, physical activity, nutrition and healthy snacks, and heat and sun safety.

Participants received a wealth of information and took part in a variety of fun-filled sessions and contests. An added bonus to moms who attended the event was that the program provided them a common platform to meet, interact and share their concerns with other moms. The relief and satisfaction they derived from the program was evident, as many of the participants who had entered the venue looking anxious and stressed left with a relieved smile on their faces.

“I learned many new things here, today. It is amazing that an information-packed program like this could be delivered through such fun-filled sessions,” said a participant, mother of a six-month-old. Another participant, who is expecting her first child in November said that she had been nervous all through her pregnancy thinking about the big day, and that after attending the event, she now feels at ease.

In all, there were around 70 attendees. Free goody bags were handed out to participants at the end of the program. Prizes were also distributed to the contests winners. The event was sponsored by Bioderma (main sponsor), Glenda, Barakat Juices, Al Baker, Destination Maternity, Humana, FittPass and First Gulf Sign.
