Chandigarh, August 6: Fiza alias Anuradha Bali, the ex-wife of the former Haryana deputy chief minister, Chander Mohan, was found dead at her Chandigarh home on Monday. Fiza allegedly committed suicide and the highly-decomposed body was found on her bed.

No suicide note was recovered from the spot. DSP Mohali city DS Mann said that it was Fiza's uncle who informed them of the suicide. "Fiza's uncle informed us about this. We are investigating the matter... It looks like the incident is 3-4 days old. We can only speak about the matter after the investigation is complete."

Meanwhile, Fiza's uncle Satpal, who discovered the body, said, "I came today morning.... the body was in a decomposed state."

Fiza stayed alone at her Chandigarh residence. She last spoke to her uncle on August 1.

A twisted love story

Fiza was the ex-Haryana Deputy CM Chander Mohan's second wife. Chander Mohan had converted to Islam and changed his name to Chand Mohammad to marry Anuradha Bali in November 2008, following which, she too changed her religion and took the name of Fiza Mohammad.

Chander Mohan was already married to Seema Bishnoi and had three children from her.

Both surfaced after their marriage one month later in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut city. After a nearly 40-day stay together, Chander Mohan suddenly left her house and was later traced in London.

Adding further drama to the controversial marriage, Chander Mohan divorced Fiza over the phone and through SMS in February 2009, only to return to her in June the same year.

The second marriage cost Chander Mohan his high-profile job as Haryana's deputy chief minister in the process.

Palghar, Mar 7: Police have arrested a man for allegedly cheating several shopkeepers in Maharashtra's Thane, Pune and Nashik by making phone calls in a woman's voice, police said on Friday.

The accused, Shashikant Ambekar (42), a resident of Palghar, was arrested in the last week of February, they said.

"He used to note down the phone numbers mentioned on different shops and call the owners in a woman's voice to order some things from them. He would tell them that he had a Rs 2000 currency note and needed change," an official said.

"He would ask the shopkeepers to send smaller denomination notes for exchange. He would wait at the entrance of buildings and when the delivery man arrived, he used to tell that he was there on behalf of the ''caller woman''.

"He would then take the currency notes from the delivery man saying he would get the Rs 2,000 note from the woman. However, he would disappear from the scene," the official said.

Police have seized Rs 1,85,000 from the accused and found that so far he has committed 22 similar crimes in different parts of the state.
