Four from Bengaluru killed in road accident near Mysuru

Mysuru, Mar 26: Ranjan Solanki (25), whose wedding was scheduled in April, and was busy inviting friends and relatives, died in a road accident along with three other family members near Hunsur, some 160 kms away from Bengaluru late on Saturday.acci

Rajan, who was at the wheel, lost control over his four-wheeler, ford endeavour, while negotiating a curve near Nallurpala in Hunsur resulting in tragic incident. About eight were on their way to Nagarahole Forest when the tragedy happened around 5 pm.

His relatives Shivaji Ghorpade (49), Kaushik Chauvan (32) and Kirshore Yadav (35) died on spot while Chandrashekar, Yashavan RAo, Vijay Ghorpade and Ravi Solanki escaped death with minor injuries. They're all residents in different parts of Bengaluru. A total of eight persons were travelling in the car and condition of four others are stable and out of danger.

Hunsur inspector Dharmendra said Solanki's wedding was scheduled on April 29 and his family members were busy inviting people known to them for the wedding. The family visited various places near Mysuru and also to Rajan's uncle house in Hunsur before planning a visit to Nagarahole forest for sightseeing as they were close to the national park.

The family earlier had lunch at Chowdi Katte at a relative's house before leaving to the forest.

Belagavi, Jan 19: Miscreants have murdered a couple and their son at Dodwad Village, about 50 km from here, in the wee hours on Sunday.

The victims were identified as Shvananda Basavanthappa Andanashetty, his wife Shanthavva and their son Vinod.

Senior Police officials visited the spot and a case was registered at Dodwad Police Station.

New Delhi, Jan 11: Assets worth Rs 78 crore have been attached by the ED in connection with a money laundering probe against former ICICI Bank Chairman Chanda Kochhar and others, officials said on Friday.

A provisional order under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) has been issued for attachment of the properties that includes Kochhar's Mumbai-based house and some other assets belonging to a company linked to her, they said.

The book value of the attached assets is Rs 78 crore, they said.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is probing Kochhar, her husband Deepak Kochhar and others in a case of alleged irregularities and money laundering in giving loans by the bank to the Videocon group.

Puducherry,Mar 26: Congress legislator from Kamaraj Nagar constituency John Kumar has been booked on charges of violating lock-down rules, Lt Governor Kiran Bedi said on Thursday.

In a Whats app posting she further said that an FIR has been registered under the Disaster management Act.

She stated John Kumar in an irresponsible manner allowed more than 200 people to gather outside his house and distributed doles personally when lock down was enforced in the country.

A criminal case has been registered against him for blatant violation of law despite mass information and media messages.Instead of following the law, he chose to violate it,she further stated.

The LG added that as per the ground report by IGP Surendra Yadav, there was perceptible improvement in enforcement of lock down and public were aware and cooperative.Vehicles carrying essential supplies and personnel were moving and every day is an improvement.
