Fr Muller School and College of Nursing holds Graduation Day

Father Muller charitable Institutions organised the graduation day of Father Muller School and College of Nursing on 23rdMarch 2019.

The day began with a Thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration at 8.00 am in the St Joseph Chapel where Rev Msgr Maxim Lawrence  Noronha, Vicar General of Mangalore Diocese was the main celebrant. He also preached a meaningful homily highlighting the role of nurses in the healing ministry. A very meaningful liturgy was organised.

The afternoon programme started with the photography session at 1.30 pm for the graduands along with the teaching faculty, management and guests. The Graduation Ceremony was held at 2.30 pm in the Father Muller Convention Centre.  The program commenced with the procession of Graduands of Basic Bsc Nursing, Post basic Bsc Nursing and MSc Nursing of Father Muller college of Nursing followed by graduands of Father Muller School of nursing accompanied by the teaching faculty and the dignitaries. The procession was headed by the band playing tunes of festive songs led by the students of Father Muller college of Nursing. The dignitaries were given a symbolic welcome in the traditional Indian style, the Poornakumbha Swagatha followed by the Prayer dance performed by the students of Father Muller School and college of Nursing.

Rev Sr Dr Matilda Monteiro, Provincial Superior, Sisters of charity was the chief guest. Rt Rev Msgr Maxim Lawrence Noronha, Vicar general of Mangalore diocese and also the vice president of Father Muller charitable Institutions presided over the function.

Rev Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director of the Institutions, Rev Fr Rudolph Ravi DSa, Administrator of Father Muller medical college hospital, Rev Fr Ajith Menezes, Adminstrator, Father Muller medical college, Rev Sr Jacintha DSouza, Principal, Father Muller college of Nursing, Mrs Jasmine Saritha Vas, Principal, Father Muller school of Nursing, Prof Victoria D’Almeida,Vice Principal, Father Muller college of Nursing, Rev Sr Janet DSouza, Chief Nursing officer of Father Muller Medical college hospital were present on the dias.

Rev. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, welcomed the dignitaries, all the graduates, their parents, governing board members, invitees, guests, staff and students. He also introduced the chief guest of the function to the gathering. Rev Sr Jacintha DSouza read out a brief annual report of college of Nursing and Mrs Jasmine Saritha Vas presented the annual report of School of nursing.

As many as 175 graduates from school and college of nursing celebrated their success on this day. It was a matter of pride for the institution as there were 102 students from Basic BSc nursing, 24 students from Post Basic BSc nursing, 9 students from MSc nursing and 40 students from Father Muller School of nursing. All the graduates were honoured during the Graduation Ceremony and were presented with Certificates.

Delivering the graduation address, Rev Sr Dr Matilda Monteiro said, nurses are the backbone of health care and Father Muller charitable institution is one of the brand institutions in providing  dedicated nurses for this healing ministry. She asked all the graduates to carry on the Legacy of Fr Muller forward by serving the needy with love and care.

During this occasion all the achievers in various fields were awarded.  Meritorious graduates and students were presented with awards and prizes for their achievements in academics.   The Best out going graduate for the year 2018 was awarded to Ms Shalu Sebastian from Basic BSc Nursing. Ms Shalu Sebastian delivered the response on behalf of all the Graduates expressing her joy and gratitude.

In his presidential address, Rev Msgr Maxim Lawrence Noronha,    called upon the graduates to uphold the motto of Father Muller charitable Institutions and also to render quality and dedicated nursing care and make their alma mater proud. He wished them success in their future endeavours.

The Chief Guest, Rev Sr Dr Matilda Monteiro and Rev Msgr Maxim Lawrence Noronha were honoured by presenting a memento. Prof Victoria D Almeida, Vice Principal, college of nursing, proposed the vote of thanks. 

After the recession of the graduates, cultural events were organised for the gathering. Around 900 people consisting of graduates, post graduates, parents, alumni, guests, invitees, staff and students witnessed this solemn celebration.  Graduation refreshments were served to all after the program.

The Department of Business Administration organised a Webinar on Career Planning and Development for the Under Graduate and PUC students of various colleges on 23 May 2020. Sr Dr Venissa A.C, Principal, inaugurated the programme and conveyed her best wishes. Mr Abhilash K, Managing Director of Abhijnya Education Private Limited was the Resource speaker.

Mr Abhilash said that a student should assess themselves, evaluate their career skills, set career goals in order to implement and maximise their career plan. He listed out the various courses available after completion of PUC/Degree. He also said that the students need to create their own future, assess their strengths, build personality and explore various options available to build their own career. He gave a few tips on how to prepare for the various competitive exams and manage time.

The Webinar had 125 participants from various colleges who actively participated by asking their doubts on Career Planning. The programme was conducted on Google Meet. Dr Neethu Suraj, Assistant Professor of BBA welcomed the Resource speaker and the participants, Mr Elson Dsouza Assistant Professor of BBA delivered the vote of thanks and Mrs Sabina Dsouza HOD of BBA coordinated the programme.

Mangaluru, Jan 3: Vishruth Bhat, a Class VI student from CFAL is the topper in Dakshina Kannada District in the first round of the VVM examination (VI Standard category) and now advances to the ‘State Level Camp’.  Proving their mettle, 12 students from CFAL have qualified for the “State Level Camp” of Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) - a national programme to educate and popularise science for classes VI – XI. A total of 129 students are selected from Karnataka to participate in the State Level Camp, out of which around 9.30% students are from CFAL. These students were selected on the basis of their performances in the first stage, an online exam. The State level camp shall include written test, observational analysis of video clips, situation problem solving and hands on activities.

The selected students are:  B Vishruth Bhat, Pratham D, Chinmayee Adiga, Chirag J Sunil, Nidhi Noronha, K Sai Prathiksha, Aryan Atul Surana, Rakshith K R, Anupama Kamath, Krithi, Mavith Saldanha and Vignaraj. Among the selected students Kirti, Mavith and Vihnaraj are TLC PU College students.

About VVM:

VVM is a national program jointly organized by Vijnana Bharati, NCERT and Vigyan Prasar for educating and popularizing science among the school students of Classes VI to XI. The main objective of the program is to identify keen knowledge seekers in Science and then nurture them for higher level of science education. Students participating in VVM undergo the following multi-level testing procedures:

•        Objective type question answering

•        Comprehensive writing

•        Presentation and Group discussion

•        Role play

•        Practical examination

•        Methods of Science

The program also includes organising visits to reputed National Science Laboratories and Centres. To enable deserving students to have interaction with renowned scientists of the Nation. The VVM will identify Vigyan Jigyasu (Keen Knowledge Seeker of Science) at National level.  

This exam is conducted in three phases.  The first phase is an online exam conducted in the school itself.  In the second phase (State level camp) top 20 rankers per class, per state will be identified to participate in two days State Level Camp. Eminent scholars and scientists from different fields will guide the students. Practical examination will be conducted to select top 2 students from each class to participate in the national camp. Toppers will get certificates and cash awards.

In the third phase (National camp) which is a 2-day camp, comprise presentations, scientific understanding, innovation, and creativity, out of box activities and assessment of leadership qualities. Toppers are awarded with certificates and cash awards.

Mangaluru, Jan 8: The centenary year of St. Agnes College got off to a grand start on January 3, 2020 with a day of commemoration that involved staff, students, alumni and benefactors. The college is all set to celebrate its centenary with the community of Mangaluru on January 10, 2020 from 9.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m with a daylong festival – Knowledge Factory. It will be held at the newly inaugurated air-conditioned auditorium with over 1000 attendees expected to be present. 

KNOWLEDGE FACTORY is the first of the five mega centenary programmes that St. Agnes College has envisaged.  The Promise Foundation and niiti Consulting – two organisations headquartered in the national capital under the mentorship of veteran journalist Madhavan Narayan are collaborating with the college to bring this event to Mangaluru for the first time.  A dozen icons will share the stage throughout the day and bring forth their thoughts and ideas enabling a culture of learning through fire-side chats and keynotes. 

The speakers include Lisa Ray, Indo-Canadian Actor and Author; Sunil Buch, Director, Live Nation; Dipannita Sharma, Actor and Supermodel; Kriti Tula, Co-Founder and Creative Director, Doodlage; Nandini Srikar, Singer and Composer; Prakash Belawadi, Movie and Theatre Actor,  Manasi Paresh Kumar, Senior Journalist; Swati Pande, Co-Founder and CEO, Arboreal; Anuradha Kedia Parekh, Co-Founder, The Better India; Arokiaswamy Velumani, Founder and Chairman, Thyrocare Technologies; Heena Sidhu, the former world  number 1 pistol shooter. The event anchor will be the celebrity news reader Rini Simon Khanna who has been anchoring the event since its first edition in 2017.

Gaurava Yadav, a well-known quiz master will conduct a quiz focussed on History.  Based on a written prelims that will take place at 8.15 am in the designated room, four teams of two members each will compete in the finals at 4.45 pm. The winning team will receive a prize of INR 30,000 and the runner up team will receive INR.20,000/-    

The event is put together by social entrepreneurs - Meena Vadiyanathan and Amith Prabhu (who is of Mangalorean origin). All who desire to attend the event and participate in the quiz may buy donor passes costing Rs 500/- per head which includes lunch.  Sale of donor passes will close on the 8th. The college cordially invites the community of Mangaluru to join hands with it in making this programme a great success.
