Fruits distributed among patients, orphans

Mangaluru, Oct 27: Care-the helping hands, a philanthropic association of youngsters distributed fruits among patients at Wenlock Hospital and Lady Goschen Hospital in the city on Friday.

At Wenlock Hospital, district surgeon Dr Rajeshwari Devi H R inaugurated the programme. Dr Juliana Saldana and others were present.

Later they distributed fruits among HIV affected children at CARDTs in Kadri Shivbhag, children pursuing Haafiz course in Kudroli and orphan children of Zeenath Baksh Yateem Khana.

Care-the helping hands, president Hafeez Arabian said that his association has been extending a helping hand to needy people every month.

Hoteliers suffer due to night curfew

Kalaburagi, Jul 2: Hoteliers in Kalaburagi have claimed that their business is hit due to night curfew timings in the state.

The night curfew in the state has been imposed from 8 pm to 5 am.

Speaking to news agency, Sudarshan, a hotelier said, "Peak business hour is 7-10 pm but now we close by 8 pm. There is almost no business. We are unable to pay our workers. The government should think about it".

"We haven't received any benefit from the government so far. If we are in trouble how will we help our workers? Relaxation should be given," he added.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka government on Tuesday announced a complete lockdown on Sundays till August 2.

So far, Karnataka has reported 15,242 COVID-19 cases, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Two held with illicit liquor in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, April 3: Central Crime Branch (CCB) Bengaluru has arrested two persons for allegedly possessing illicit liquor.

The probe team also allegedly seized bottles worth Rs 1.25 lakhs from their possession on Thursday.

A case has been registered against the accused and investigation into the matter is underway, Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police informed news agency.

More details in this regard are awaited.
