Fuel prices rise again after three days of no change

New Delhi, Sept 30: Petrol and diesel prices are up again - petrol by 7-8 paise and diesel by 9-10 paise, according to data from Indian Oil Corporation. Petrol is selling at ₹74.42 a litre, while diesel price rose to ₹67.33 a litre in Delhi on Monday even as international crude oil prices stabilised after the drone attack on Saudi oil facilities earlier this month.

Petrol prices rose to ₹77.10 a litre in Kolkata, ₹80.08 a litre in Mumbai and ₹77.36 a litre in Chennai.

Diesel prices rose to ₹69.75 a litre in Kolkata, ₹70.64 a litre in Mumbai and ₹71.19 a litre in Chennai.

Petrol price has gone up by ₹2.25 a litre while that of diesel by ₹1.75 a litre since September 17 after the drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities on September 13.

The fuel prices are revised on a daily basis in India. When international crude oil prices rise, prices in India also go up. Other factors like rupee to US dollar exchange rate, cost of crude oil, global cues and demand also impact the price of fuel.

New Delhi, Jul 17:  Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that as India's COVID-19 tally has crossed 10,00,000 mark and issued a warning that by August 10, more than 20,00,000 people may be infected in the country. He called on the government to take concrete steps to control the pandemic.
 
Taking to Twitter, Gandhi marked his earlier tweet from July 14 that stated: "This week the figure will cross 10,00,000 in our country."
"The tally has crossed 10,00,000 mark. If COVID-19 continues to spread at the same speed, by August 10, more than 20,00,000 people will be infected in the country.
 
The government must take concrete, planned steps to stop the epidemic," he tweeted today.
With the highest single-day spike of 32,695 cases and 606 deaths, India's COVID-19 tally on Thursday reached 9,68,876, informed the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.
 
The total number of COVID-19 cases includes 3,31,146 active cases, 6,12,815 cured/discharged/migrated and 24,915 deaths.

Mar 2: Two more positive cases of the novel coronavirus -- one in Delhi and another in Telangana -were reported, the Union Health Ministry said on Monday.

The person from Delhi had travelled to Italy, it said adding he is being diagnosed at RML hospital.

The other person with the coronavirus infection has a travel history to Dubai, the ministry added.

"Both the patients are stable and being closely monitored," the ministry said.

Sunitha Krishnan is the name of the patient from Telangana and she is a social activist.

Krishnan has tweeted, "So going to enjoy hospitality at Gandhi Hospital for two days as admitted in the isolation ward suspected coronavirus. They have not started the tests yet( 1.30 hrs since I arrived).I believe the results make take 48hrs. At this pace, I have a feeling I am might be here sometime."

New Delhi, May 10: India's COVID-19 count crossed 60 thousand on Sunday, with Maharashtra being the worst-affected due to the infection so far, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The number of total confirmed cases in the country rose to 62,939, including 19,358 patients who have been cured and discharged or migrated, according to the Ministry.

The total number of active cases in the country, therefore, stands at 41,472.

The number of deaths in the country due to the infection reached 2,109 on Sunday.

While Maharashtra, with 20,228 cases is the worst-affected state, it is followed by Gujarat with 7,796 and the national capital, Delhi, with 6,542 cases. Tamil Nadu, is marginally behind Delhi with 6,535 cases.
