Bengaluru, Oct 11: The police teams from Bengaluru and Gauribidanur in a joint operation arrested 21 people, on Tuesday morning, for allegedly abducting three youths from J.C. Nagar and beating one of them to death over a financial row.

The group had allegedly taken Noor Ahmed, Mubasshir and Saleem to a farmhouse on the outskirts of Gauribidanur on Monday night and assaulted them.

Ahmed (22) succumbed to injuries while Mubasshir and Saleem were severely injured when they were rescued by the police.

According to the police, Ahmed is a small-time businessman. He had given a loan of Rs. 5 lakh to prime suspect Junaid a few months ago. “When Junaid refused to return the money, Ahmed took his car and humiliated him in front of others,” said the police.

On Monday evening, Junaid asked Ahmed to meet him in J.C. Nagar and collect his money. Ahmed went along with his friends Mubasshir and Saleem.

The police claimed that they were greeted by Junaid who was accompanied by 20 associates. When Ahmed failed to return home, his family contacted the police who tracked the youth to Gauribidanur. They alerted their counterparts in Gauribidanur.

In Gauribidanur, Sub-inspector Avinash noticed an SUV moving suspiciously at night. It contained some of the suspects who had come to the city to buy food for the others.

Based on information provided by them, the police went to the farmhouse and rescued the trio. They were shifted to a hospital where Ahmed succumbed.

“Saleem and Mubasshir have been shifted to Victoria Hospital,” said Chetan Singh Rathor, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North). The police have seized two SUVs and lethal weapons from the suspects.
