GMU, Thumbay Hospital host conference on anaesthesia

The Gulf Medical University (Ajman), in association with the Department of Anaesthesia, Thumbay Hospital, conducted the ‘National Conference on Updates in Anaesthesia’ at The Ajman Saray Hotel, Ajman on Friday, 21st October 2016 to discuss the modern breakthroughs in administeringanaesthesiaand the role of anaesthesiologist on World Anaesthesia Day.

The conference was inaugurated by the chief guest, Mr. Akbar MoideenThumbay – Vice President of the Healthcare Division of Thumbay Group. He presented mementos to the invited speakers. Later he went around the exhibition area and interacted with the companies to learn about the latest anaesthesia equipment.

“Advances in surgical techniques, the surge in outpatient surgeries and the demand for value-based care are expected to further drive advances in the field of anesthesiology,” said Dr. PrashanthHegde - Medical Director of Thumbay Hospital, Ajman commenting on the conference.

“Anaesthetists play a vital role in preparing patients for surgery and monitoring them. As a key member of the medical teams in surgical units and intensive care, they are assigned an important role of ensuring patient’s safety, delivering pain relief and resuscitation.If surgery was the revolutionary solution to save or treatpatients, anaesthesia was the innovation that allowed the idea to be executed- in the first place. And it’s critical that we remember its role,” said Dr. Raji Sharma, Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, Thumbay Hospital – Ajman.

The conference, which was accredited by the Ministry of Health – UAE for 7.5 CME hours, was attended by over 150 doctors from across the country. Certificates were issued to the participants at the end of the program.

Mangaluru, May 5: Covid-19 pandemic has caused widespread economic devastation in the country. Many people have lost their livelihood. All sectors of the economy are in distress. Providing relief to the needy is the need of the hour.  Responding to this humanitarian crisis, Dakshina Kannada Automobile & Tyre Dealers Association has contributed a sum of Rs. One Lakh towards Covid-19 relief.

Association President Sri Kasturi Prabhakar Pai along with Vice President Sri Harsha Kumar Kedige, Secretary Sri K. Vilas Kumar and Treasurer Sri Maroor Shashidhar Pai handed over two cheques for Rs. 50,000/- each favouring ‘PM Cares’ – the Prime Minister’s Covid-l9 Relief Fund and ‘Chief Minister Relief Fund Covid-l9’ of Karnataka respectively to Smt. Sindhu B. Rupesh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of D. K. District at her office in Mangalore on Monday, May 4, 2020.

Mandya, Apr 3: Following the lock down in the country, people habit ventured into Liquor bottles worth several lakhs of rupees have been stolen at two places in the district.

Miscreants targeted a wine store at Chikka Mandya on the outskirts of the town in the early hours and also made away with the stock from a wine store near Hadly Circle in Malavalli town late night on Thursday. The incidents came to light on Friday.

A window was broken open at Chikka Mandya store and a wall was drilled at Malavalli store to take away the cartons, the police said.

Tumakuru, Jun 20: An SSLC student of Siddaganga Mutt here was admitted to the isolation ward of the district hospital on Saturday after he showed Covid-19 symptoms.

Health officials said that the student, a native of the Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh, had returned to the Mutt via Raichur on June 15 for writing the SSLC examination scheduled to begin on June 25.

After he was admitted to the hospital the Health Department Officials kept three of his roommates under quarantine. Throat swab sample of the student has also been sent for testing.
