Bantwal, Dec 18: Two people including a gram panchayat member lost their lives in a ghastly road mishap occurred today at Kelaginapete in Kanyana village near Vittal in Bantwal taluk.
The deceased have been identified as Walter D’Souza (45), member of Kanayana gram panchayat and Wilson D’Souza, a resident of Panjaje village.
The two were travelling on a motorbike which met with an accident. They were thrown on to the road. Both of them died on the spot, sources said.
Kasaragod, Jul 22: An accused in a POCSO case jumped into the sea at Kasaba Coast near here on Wednesday.
Sources said the accused Mahesh (28), resident of Soorlu Kanhangad, was brought to the groyne ('pulimuttu' in Malayalam) at the coast for collecting evidence.
He escaped from the police and ran around 200 meters towards the sea and jumped into it. The effort to rescue him also failed.
Police, Fire & Rescue officials and fishermen are searching for the body of the accused.
Mahesh was arrested on charge of capturing the video of a minor girl in a washroom on his mobile.
During interrogation, he had told the copse that he had hidden the mobile, which was used to video record the act, near the groyne. Accordingly, the police had brought him to this place.
Mysuru, Mar 24:m who returned from foreign travel and flouted home quarantine guidelines has been arrested in Mysuru on Monday.
The man, who returned from Australia, had a seal on his hand but was roaming around the city.
According to police, he was supposed to be under home quarantine till April 6. V V Puram Police took him into custody.
Mangaluru, Apr 18: Three people, including a woman, who were being treated at the city's Wenlock Hospital have been discharged after they recovered from Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
With this, a total of 12 people who had tested positive for the virus until Thursday have been discharged from various hospitals in Dakshina Kannada.
A 39-year-old advocate from Uppinangady tested positive for Covid -19 on Friday, he has been admitted to the Wenlock Hospital and is being treated. With this, only one COVID-19 positive patient is being treated at Wenlock Hospital till Friday evening.
