'Haider' once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: Shraddha

Shraddha kapoorMumbai, Jul 22: Actress Shraddha Kapoor feels lucky to be a part of filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj's upcoming project 'Haider' at such an early stage of her career.

'Haider', an adaptation of 'Hamlet' and completes Bhardwaj's trilogy of William Shakespeare's tragedies after 'Macbeth' and 'Othello', has a stellar star cast of Shahid Kapoor, Tabu, Kay Kay Menon, Irrfan besides the actress.

"I still can't believe that I am a part of Vishal sir's 'Haider'. It's such a surreal experience for me. I am lucky that he has given me this opportunity at such an early stage of my career.

"It has an ensemble starcast of veteran actors like Tabu, Kay Kay Menon and Irrfan. I feel it's an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Shraddha, who is just four-films-old in the industry said.

In the film adaptation, Shraddha is playing Hamlet's tragic lover Ophelia.

"Vishal sir has adapted the play brilliantly with an Indian setting. I am playing a press reporter Arshia, which is am amalgamation of Shakespeare's Ophelia and Horatio (a friend to Hamlet). I read 'Hamlet' in my school but I don't remember it well. Sir's (Vishal) script was enough to understand all these characters," she said.

After the success of 'Teri galiyan' in 'Ek Villain', Sharaddha has once again sung a Kashmiri folk song in 'Haider'.

"Arshia is a Kasmiri girl and the role is different. I need to understand the way a Kashmiri girl behaves and Vishal sir helped me with that. Tabu ma'am and I sang for the film but we didn't sing together," she said.

Shot primarily in Kashmir, 'Haider' will hit theatres on October 2 along with Hrithik Roshan-starrer 'Bang Bang'.

Agartala, May 28: Tripura Police has registered a complaint against Bangladeshi singer Mainul Ahsan Nobel, who earned fame in the music reality show 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' in Kolkata, for allegedly humiliating Prime Minister Narendra Modi over social media.

The complaint was filed by a resident of Belonia town in South Tripura district who is a student of Pandit Deen Dayal Petroleum University at Gandhinagar in Gujarat.

The complaint was filed on May 25, the person who is called Suman Paul said.

Nobel is not yet a popular singer in Bangladesh and has always been rejected by the audience of that country. He participated in the TV music reality show called Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in Kolkata, earned money, gained fame and returned to Bangladesh. If the person insults our prime minister it cannot be accepted. So I filed the FIR, Paul told reporters.

Belonia superintendent of police Jal Singh Meena confirmed that the complaint was registered and forwarded to Tripura Polices cyber crime cell.

The complaint was registered the same day it was filed at Belonia police station under Indian Penal code sections 500 (punishment for defamation), 504 (intentional insult), 505 (public mischief) and the IT Act.

We have registered the complaint and forwarded it to the cybercrime cell because it is not in the Indian cyberspace. We have started an investigation into the issue, the SP said.

Rajib Dutta, the officer-in-charge of Belonia police station said that as per the complaint the Bangladeshi singer had abused Modi in a Facebook post calling him a "mere chaiwala (tea seller)'.

Mumbai, May 17: TV actor Manmeet Grewal, who worked on shows like "Aadat Se Majboor" and "Kuldeepak", committed suicide after struggling with dwindling finances amid lockdown, family friend-producer Manjit Singh Rajput said.

Grewal, who was originally from Punjab, hanged himself on Friday night at his Kharghar residence here where he lived with his wife. He was 32.

Rajput, who had known Grewal for nearly seven years, said the actor was facing "financial crisis" and wasn't able to earn due to the lockdown.

"He was going through a major financial issue and he was also in depression. The added pressure of not being able to repay loans amid this (no work phase) got to him. His wife is completely shocked and devastated," Rajput told PTI.

The producer said last rites of the actor were performed on Saturday.

Grewal was working on projects like a webseries and some commercials, which were put on hold due to the nationwide lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Washington, May 26: Making a slight change to the name of their newborn, Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his singer girlfriend Grimes have now named their first child X AE A-Xii.

The difference is only in the numeral part of the name which is now written in the Roman format.

The change in the name came when an Instagram follower of the Canadian singer asked if she had considered changing the name of the child and she replied with, "X AE A-Xii."

However, the performer didn't provide further insight concerning the reason behind the change.

Canadian singer Grimes gave birth to her first child on May 4.

The 32-year-old had earlier taken to Twitter and explained the meaning of the baby's name.
