Hassan Abbas elected KSA Dammam-Khobar unit president

Dammam: It was a moment of enthusiasm for the members of the Karnataka Salafi Association (KSA), Dammam-Khobar Unit May 8. The hall in the restaurant was packed with old and new members from Karnataka residing in Dammam area in Saudi Arabia.

The 16th annual general body meeting of the Association was called and presided over by the outgoing president Mohammed Ismail Babbukatte. Shaik Sameer Ahmed, Bengaluru, who is also the chairman of Peace and Education Research Center, Bengalaluru, compered.

Meeting started with the recitation of Quran and translation of the same by Sheikh Sadiq Salafi.

Ismail Babbukatte spoke about the activities of Association for the past 16 years and the achievement statistics to the members. He also produced the financial report for the year 2014/2015.

Karnataka Salafi Association has been working for the welfare of Muslims in Saudi Arabia by setting up two English Medium Madrassas in Khobar and Dammam, which are first of its kind in Saudi Arabia. Members have participated in relief and rehabilitation work in India too and also actively participated in setting up an Islamic TV channel in India in the name of I plus TV.

Weekly classes are being conducted in Alkhobar in Byari, Kannada, Urdu languages for several years with the participation of entire families connected with the association. Annual Umrah and Ramadhan Iftar party for the families are regular events. Publication and Printing of knowledge based books is also one of the works accomplished by the association.

Later the existing committee was dissolved by the outgoing president and Mohammed Liyaqhat was chosen Returning Officer to conduct the election for the new committee members. As many as 31 members were elected and the new executive committee was formed.

Outgoing president has signed the transfer formalities of the Association to the new committee under the supervision of returning officer Mohammed Liyaqhat.

All the members were briefed about their duties and responsibilities. Accordingly a meeting was scheduled for the committee on the next day. The new members have shown great amount of enthusiasm to work for the Association and given commitments to uphold the methodology of pious predecessors in understanding and following the true spirit of Islam.

Advocate Abdul Hameed Padubidri, Sheikh Burhan Nadwi, senior NRI Sibghatullah Saheb, Ahmed Hussain Padubidri were present in the meeting.

New executive committee meeting

The first meeting of new executive committee was held on May 9, in Apsara Restaurant, Al Khobar at 9 p.m. All the 31 members were present.

Meeting was presided over by Sheikh Sadiq Salafi. Sheikh Burhan Nadwi and Br.Mohammed Liyaqhat were present in the dais. Sheikh Sadiq Salafi gave 10 minutes speech on importance of upholding Quran, sunnah and manhaj of Salaf, and to work unitedly for the pleasure of Allah. Election to the new office bearers post was done and the following were chosen for the posts as office bearers.

Few independent sub committees were formed. They are: Madrassa Committee Dammam, Madrassa Committee Khobar, Dawah Committee, and Media and Communication Committee. Hassan Abbas, Basheer Sagar, Mustafa Patla, Sharief Yennehole, Abdul Hameed M H and Shaik Sameer Ahmed were chosen as the members of all the sub committees.

Dubai: A blood donation drive was conducted by Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) at in Al Wasl Club Stadium here on Friday, 26th June 2020.

The drive started around 1:00 pm and continued till 4:00 pm as per schedule provided by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Blood Donation Centre and 60 people donated blood to support the Blood Bank. The drive was well organised by maintaining social distance in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As blood cannot be produced but only can be donated, this drive will help many patients in need of blood during emergencies. Donors were also feeling proud and happy at this moment thinking of saving someone’s life.

DHA Blood Donation Centre staff carried out the screening and testing done in very well manner keeping social distancing during this pandemic. Volunteers of KSCC were also helping the staff to keep people in safe distance and to make this drive a success.

KSCC Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi and other office bearers were present at the event venue. KSCC thanked the volunteers, Community Development of Authority (CDA), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Blood Donation Centre, Government of Dubai and Al Wasl Club Stadium for making the event successful.

Kuwait: Friday Forum Kuwait conducted its 12th inter-school Islamic Elocution Competition at Hotel Rajadhani Palace, Khaitan on 1st January 2020. 

The competition, which was held in the senior and junior categories had participation from 15 Indian Schools across Kuwait comprising of 43 students. In the senior category, Ayisha Wafiya of Indian Community School, Khaitan bagged the first prize and Efrem Joseph of Indian Community School, Amman won the second prize. 

In the junior category, Hima Jameela of Indian Community School, Khaitan bagged the first prize and Fadhel Kandapath of Fahaheel Al Wataniya Indian School won the second prize. Nawaal Yaseen Ebrahim of Indian Community School (SR), Salmiya and Rhruthunanda of Indian Learners Own Academy, Abbasiya won the consolation prizes in senior and junior categories respectively.

This year, the event was fully conducted by the ladies wing of Friday Forum. Dr. Thasneem Amir, Ibtisam Basheer, Toast Masters Ola Rasheed, Fatma Abduhedeid, Shazia Thabassum and Marium Rangat were the judges for the competition in senior and junior categories. The event started with the Qira’at by Saneera Riyas, followed by welcome speech by Dr. Sajna Mohammed. 

The prizes were distributed to winners by Shahina Mansoor, Femitha Faseeh, Dr.Thasneem Amir, Dr. Sajna Mohammed, Zeenath Yacoub, Safna Sayam and Saneera Riyas. The Souvenir for the program - “INSPERIA 2020”- was released during the event by the chief editor Farha Abdul Rahman. The program was compered by Thanveera Noushad and the program convenor Subeana Shabeer conveyed the vote of thanks.

Dammam: President of Indian Social Forum, Eastern Province Mr.Wasim Rabbani urged immediate intervention of Indian government to help Non Residential Indians who are in trouble due to corona pandemic in Saudi Arabia.

He said in a press rease that expatriate Indians are in concern  as number of corona infected people and  deaths are increasing in danger level.

Hea said, "the Saudi health minister's statement a few days ago indicates that the situation in Saudi needs to be taken more seriously with precautionary methods. There are concerns among expatriates because the number of people infected with the coronavirus and the number of deaths reported in various provinces are increasing at an alarming rate."

"Saudi Government and Health Ministry are taking excellent precautionary measures, however, in the coming days expect to see the number of cases to increase in Saudi Arabia. The Indian government needs to take diplomatic and immediate intervention to ensure the treatment of Indian expatriates considering the number of effected people increasing", He said.

He also urged that the Embassy and the Government of India should ensure qaurantiane faculty for Indian expatriates and arrange special low cost flights to bring back expatriates who would like to return home country.

" Government of India and Indian embassy need to intervene immediately to ensure that the quarantine system is in place for Indian expatriates as the facilities in the rooms where the residents are staying together are very limited. There should also be a mechanism to organize low-cost flight services for expatriates who are ready to go home. The government system should also be able to accommodate the expatriates in special quarantine areas in hometown as soon they arrive in India", he urged.
