He is a hero now! Cricketer Sreesanth to act in Tamil film

Kochi, Aug 6: The latest cricketer to turn actor is S Sreesanth, who is soon going to be seen in a big budget Southern film. The film will be made simultaneously in Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil. The movie, to be directed by renowned filmmaker Sana Yadireddy, tells a spicy story of a cricketer and IPL.

S Sreesanth"The film will go on floors in September and we are planning to wrap it up in six months," Yadireddy said here announcing the details of the film. The film will be dubbed into 14 Indian languages, he said.

Sreesanth, who is playing a negative role in Pooja Bhatt's bollywood film Cabaret, said he decided to accept roles in movies as he wanted to "explore another side of life". "This is my debut film in South and I am going to work with a big filmmaker like Sana Yadireddy. I can't ask for more. I am looking forward for a good acting career in South," Sreesanth said.

Yadireddy said Sreesanth is not only a good cricketer, but he is a superb dancer and actor. "I have seen him performing at many events and always wanted to work with him. When we narrated the story, he liked it very much and gave his nod immediately. The film will be in the backdrop of cricket and has a very good love story in it," he said.

When asked about the BCCI still sticking on its decision to ban him from playing cricket, Sreesanth said, "I will wait" till the apex cricket body in the country takes a favourable decision.

The cricketer was discharged in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing case by a Delhi Court last month. Sreesanth said primarily he is a cricketer and he wanted to restart his cricket career from the scratch once BCCI lift ban imposed on him.

May 1: Rubbishing reports of hospitalisation, veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah on Thursday said he was "fine" and at home observing the nationwide lockdown.

Shah, 69, in a Facebook post, thanked people for their concern and reassured them about his health.

"I thank all those enquiring after my health and reassure them I am fine," he said.

"I'm at home and observing the lockdown. Please don't believe any rumours," he added.

"A Wednesday" actor's younger son Vivaan Shah also dismissed rumours about his father's health.

"He's alright. These are just rumours," Vivaan said.

Reports about Shah's health started surfacing on social media as the industry was coming to terms with the deaths of Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor.

Rishi Kapoor, aged 67, died on Thursday in a hospital here after a two year-long battle with lukaemia, while Irrfan, 54, passed away on Wednesday due to neuroendocrine tumour, a rare form of cancer.

Mumbai, Jan 18: Actor Shabana Azmi was injured in an accident on Saturday afternoon on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in Maharashtra's Raigad district, an official said.

The incident took place around 3.30 pm near Khalapur, over 60 km from Mumbai, when the car in which she was traveling rammed into a truck, said Raigad Superintendent of Police Anil Paraskar.

She was rushed to MGM hospital in Navi Mumbai and was undergoing treatment, he said.

Bihar, Mar 5: A complaint has been filed before a court in Bihar against lyricist Javed Akhtar over his remarks on the FIRs being registered against expelled AAP councillor Tahir Hussain in the wake of Delhi riots.

The complaint was lodged on Wednesday by Amit Kumar, a local advocate, before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Thakur Aman Kumar.

On the basis of a newspaper report, the complainant has alleged that Akhtar's remarks were seditious and promoted religious hatred.

The media report was based on Akhtar's tweet of February 27 that "So many killed, so many injured, so many houses burned, so many shops looted so many people turned destitute but police has sealed only one house and looking for his owner. Incidentally, his name is Tahir. Hats off to the consistency of the Delhi police."

The violence in northeast Delhi claimed at least 42 lives and left over 200 injured. The former Rajya Sabha member was heavily trolled for the tweet.

In a subsequent tweet, Akhtar who asserted that he is a non-believer and a rationalist, had clarified that he was not asking "why Tahir but why ONLY Tahir and not even an FIR against those who have openly threatened violence in the presence of the police".

The matter is likely to come up for hearing on March 25.
