Kochi, Oct 28: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a heavy rainfall warning for several places in Kerala and Mahe in view of the Super Cyclonic Storm Kyarr, which lay over east-central Arabian Sea early this morning.
The IMD warned the fishermen and said, 'Sea condition is very likely to be phenomenal over the central Arabian Sea around the system centre. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas.'
As per the last update, the cyclone moved at a speed of 16 kmph past midnight on Sunday and lay centred about 790 km west-southwest of Mumbai (Maharashtra), 1200 km east-northeast of Salalah (Oman) and 740 km east-southeast of Masirah (Oman).
'It is very likely to move west-northwestwards towards Oman coast during the next 5 days. It is very likely to maintain the intensity of a Super Cyclonic Storm till October 28 evening and weaken gradually thereafter.'
