Highest joblessness among Christians, Muslims; least in Hindus, Sikhs'

New Delhi, Feb 22: Highest incidence of joblessness was witnessed among Christians in cities as well as in rural area followed by Muslims while Hindus and Sikhs reported least unemployment in urban and rural areas, says a recent government report.

"Among the specific religious groups, unemployment rate in both rural and urban areas was the highest for Christians (4.5 per cent in rural areas and 5.9 per cent in urban areas) and lowest for Sikhs in rural areas (1.3 per cent) and Hindus in urban areas (3.3 per cent)," said a report based on National Sample Survey 68th Round from July 2011 to June 2012. Muslims come second with an unemployment rate of 3.9% in rural and 2.6% in urban areas.

Many view the high unemployment rate among Christians as also a reflection of the higher education levels of community members who are in job market. Christians have the highest percentage of graduates.

According to the study titled 'Employment and Unemployment Situation Among Major Religious Group in India', among the specific religious groups, for males in rural areas, worker population ratio (WPR) was the highest for Sikhs (56.9 per cent) and in urban areas, it was the highest for Hindus (55 per cent).

For females in both rural and urban areas, WPR was the highest for Christians (28.4 per cent in rural areas and 25.2 per cent in urban areas).

In both rural and urban areas for both males and females, WPR was the lowest for Muslims (49.9 per cent for rural males, 15.3 per cent for rural females, 53.2 per cent for urban males and 10.5 per cent for urban females).

It said in terms of specific religious groups, among males in both rural and urban areas, Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) was the highest for Sikhs (57.6 per cent in rural areas and 56.8 per cent in urban areas).

For females in both rural and urban areas, LFPR was the highest for Christians (30.4 per cent in rural areas and 27.7 per cent in urban areas).

In both rural and urban areas for both males and females LFPR was the lowest for Muslims (51.1 per cent for rural males, 15.9 per cent for rural females, 55.3 per cent for urban males and 10.9 per cent for urban females).

Among persons of age 15 years and above, proportion of non-literates was the lowest for Christians (14.6 per cent for rural males, 23.7 per cent for rural females, 5.7 per cent for urban males and 9 per cent for urban females).

Proportion of persons of age 15 years and above with educational level secondary and above was the highest for Christians in rural areas for both males and females (36.3 per cent for rural males and 31.1 per cent for rural females) and for females in urban areas (62.7 per cent) whereas for males in urban areas it was the highest among Sikhs (67.6 per cent).

Among persons of age 0-29 years, for major religious groups, current attendance rate in educational institutions was the highest for Christians (58.5 per cent for rural males, 51.7 per cent for rural females, 61.5 per cent for urban males and 56.8 per cent for urban females).

Among persons of age 0-29 years, for major religious groups, current attendance rate in educational institutions was the lowest among Muslims (48.7 per cent for rural males, 42.1 per cent for rural females, 47 per cent for urban males and 46.3 per cent for urban females).

The survey was spread over 12,737 first stage units (7,469 villages and 5,268 urban blocks) covering 1,01,724 households (59,700 in rural areas and 42,024 in urban areas) and enumerating 4,56,999 persons (2,80,763 in rural areas and 1,76,236 in urban areas).

Yes there are plenty of Muslims and Christians are jobless.
But they are not vandalizing and doing like Bhajis due of jobless.
You are just telling we love our country, if you are a true lover, study the constitution and respect it where it defends equality to all.

Christians and Muslims are not anti nationals. Patriotism is part of their religion.
You can not be a patriotic citizen until you uphold your constitutional duty and obligations.

Mangalore, Jan 1: Under the aegis of the Dakshina Kannada District Jatyateeya Paksha Sanghatanegala Janti Vedik, Members of Congress, Communist Party of India, CPI (M), Janata Dal (Secular) and other secular organisations will stage a dharna on January 2 here demanding a judicial inquiry into the firing on December 19.

Talking to reporters on Tuesday evening, former Bantwal MLA B Ramanath Rai said the dharna will be held before the statue of B R Ambedkar, near the Town hall, from 1000 hrs to 1600 hrs.

Mr Rai said allegations are being made that the trouble in the city on December 19 was orchestrated by certain political parties and leaders. The city police are also being accused of acting under the influence of the ruling government in invoking prohibitory orders to quell the protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and later firing at the protesters that led to two deaths.

On Friday, February 7, 2020 Tulu Koota Kuwait under the leadership of Dynamic President Ramesh S Bhandary and coordination of Sports Secretary Roshan Quadras  held its annual picnic at Mishref Garden, Kuwait.  Although slight drizzling on the   previous night had caused great concern amongst committee members , yet the  windy and dusty weather did not lessen the enthusiasm and excitement of Tulu Koota Kuwait members.  Over 1000 members enjoyed the fun filled day.

MC of the occasion Mr. Manoj Shetty & Ms. Priya Devadiga welcomed the audience and Chief guests for the event Dr Jeshna Rajan- Badr Al Samaa Clinic, Dr. S.M.Hyther Ali- Chairman of TVS Hyder Group, Mr. John Simon- Group Manager for Corporate Sales and Event Marketing ,  Al Mulla Exchange, Mr Pradeep, owner of Geetherb medicine and Mr. Lokesh & Team from NH Assets.  The program kicked off with Kuwait & Indian National anthem. The guests in their address to audience, praised Tulu Koota Kuwait unwavering efforts to unite people through language, and also the solid philanthropy and charity work being carried by the association was applauded. The presidents  of different South Canara  association in Kuwait were also amongst invited dignitaries for the event, and were welcomed with flower bouquet. This was followed by the release of “ Tulu Nada Jathre flyer”.

Tulu Koota Kuwait President, Ramesh S Bhandary in his speech welcomed the dignitaries and emphasized the significance of the annual picnic gathering. He further elaborated on the innovative concept of “Tulunada Jathre ” being initiated this year, and requested fervent support and participation from all members in  this wonderful program scheduled to be held on Friday,  March 27, 2020 at Indian Central School Indoor Ground Abbasiya. 

As part of days celebration TKK’s Flag hosting  was done  by President , Ramesh Bhandary. “Go Green Global concept” by Tulu Koota members   was the highlight of the inaugural ceremony.  This act was directed by talented committee member Mr. Suresh Salian.

The act beautifully conveyed the message of sustainability, and climate change and raised awareness on how to fight it, how to live green.  The traditional inaugural of the sports event was done by breaking of coconut by Sports Secretary Mr. Roshan Quadras.  TKK First Lady Mrs Anitha Ramesh Bhandary led the sports march holding the traditional torch followed by the  Go Green Global team holding different country flags with plant pots, followed by President, committee members and Sponsors of TKK. The president officially inaugurated the Sports Event by officially lighting the Sports Lamp.

After the inauguration ceremony, the members and kids actively participated in day long sports games and activities meticulously planned out by the Sports committee  for different age groups.  Passing the parcel, Veggies collection, ball bucket, veg shopping , macroni race, hockey, kutti donne, sack race, lagori,  breaking the pot , tyre race, slow cycling, water ballon race, musical chair , kabbadi, volley ball, throw  ball , tug of war, housie housie, kept the members and their families  engaged and entertained. The winners for the competitions were awarded with trophies towards the end of the exciting day.

Delicious and authentic Mangalorean lunch for the event was served by Oriental Restaurant Kuwait.  Sounds and lights support for the event was provided by Anand, while the beautiful moments were captured in camera by Mr.Blen Dsouza and Mr.Rajesh Devadiga

Bengaluru, May 20: An owner of a hair cutting training salon in the city has given shelter to the jobless IT professionals and migrant workers hailing from north-eastern states and Nepal, in his salon.

Rahul Rai, the owner said, "The moment the lockdown started then I received many complaints from different corners that several persons became jobless and they were thrown out of their rented accommodations."

"They are from different states of the North-east and some of them are from Nepal also. I converted my hair-cutting training salon into a shelter home for them," he added.

A person who got shelter at the salon said, "I lost my job after the lockdown started. I was facing a lot of issues after my landlord had evicted me from my rented accommodation. I spent about a week nearby a lake. I managed to contact Rahul Rai through Facebook and he rescued me along with many others."
