Kasargod, Feb 2: Burglars made away with 10 sovereigns of gold ornaments, estimated at Rs. 2.20 lakh, by breaking open a house at Baradkka under the Badiadukka police station limits on Tuesday.
The daylight burglary occurred when the owners of the house, Sharada and her daughter Nisha, had gone to run their wayside eatery in the locality, the police said.
The thieves broke open the front door before decamping with the valuables kept in a cupboard in the bedroom. Nisha, employed as a nurse in a Gulf country, had reached home recently for her marriage scheduled on March 1.
The police have registered a case. None has been arrested so far.
