Hyderabad man held for stabbing woman to death for rejecting his proposal

Hyderabad, Jan 11: A man working in a private firm has been arrested after he allegedly killed his colleague in Hyderabad's Moosapet area for allegedly rejecting his marriage proposal, police said here on Wednesday.

Janaki, a 23-year-old woman, was stabbed to death by his colleague Ananth when the victim was in her room, on Tuesday.

They both had been working for a company named DMart for the past two years.

Kukatpally Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) N Bhujanga Rao said Ananth was stalking Janaki for the past six months and had been harassing her to marry him while she had been constantly refusing his proposal.

A case has been registered under section 302 (Punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

Bengaluru, Feb 19: Bengaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) on Wednesday raided a spa in Koramangala area and rescued six girls.

The owner of the spa is absconding and the manager has been arrested.

New Delhi, Jan 2: A 20-year-old man set his motorcycle on fire after he was challaned by the traffic police in south Delhi's Greater Kailash area on Wednesday, police said.

Vikas, a resident of Sangam Vihar, was challaned by the traffic police for riding the motorcycle without helmet, a senior police official said.

The traffic police challaned him and impounded the motorcycle, following which Vikas set the bike on fire, the officer said.

A case has been registered and the accused arrested, the officer added.

Thane, Mar 22: Eight men were arrested at Kalyan in the district on Sunday as they were found playing cricket during the 'Janata curfew' being observed to check the spread of coronavirus, police said.

They were playing cricket at Kala Talao Maidan in the afternoon, police said.

Police also detained a boy in this connection, an official said.

"Action was taken against them for defying the prohibitory orders issued by the Thane Police Commissionerate.

They also went against the 'Janata curfew' being observed to curb the spread of coronavirus," the police official said.

The Mahatma Phule Chowk Police Station registered an offence against the accused under IPC sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 290 (public nuisance).

They were also booked under the Maharashtra Police Act as well as the National Disaster Act 2005, the official said.
