Hyderabad woman allegedly burnt to death by husband for failing to secure MBBS Seat

New Delhi, Sept 19: In what comes a shocking incident, a 25-year-old housewife was allegedly murdered and burnt by her techie husband at home on Sunday. Dismissing the claims of accused M Rushi Kumar that it was a case of suicide, LB Nagar ACP P Venugopala Rao told media that the crime scene did not appear as that of a suicide, but the woman could have been killed.

Rushi Kumar married Harika two years ago. Rushi was working with a corporate firm in city, while Harika secured a seat in Bachelor of Dental Surgery at Kamineni Medical College.Rushi who was reportedly not happy with his wife not securing a MBBS seat, had fights with her.

On Sunday night, Rushi called her mother and informed her that she immolated herself by pouring kerosene.  Harika’s family rushed and found her dead. Harika’s parents alleged that he killed her and then burnt her. They alleged that he had been harassing her for few months. “Since marriage, my daughter is living in a hostel as he was forcing her to study and crack MBBS. When we requested him to be together, he said he would live with her only if she secures a MBBS seat,” said Harika’s mother.

“Rushi has extra marital affairs. He never cared for her. He only told that she washed clothes and was about to dry them, but suddenly she committed suicide. It is a planned murder,” alleged Harika’s elder sister.

Khammam, Jun 29: In an outrageous incident, some youths beat up a monkey and strung it up on a tree to death while also releasing dogs to attack it in Ammapalem village in Telangana's Khammam district.

A video of the heinous incident of animal cruelty has surfaced on social media, in which the monkey is seen hanging by a rope from a tree, desperately flailing its limbs while a couple of dogs attempt to pounce on and torment the hapless simian. After a while, several men are seen in the video approaching the animal with long sticks.

Forest officials have charged one villager Venkateshwar Rao under Wildlife Protection Act along with the other accused and arrested them. They were released on bail on Saturday and are set to be summoned for questioning by forest officials.

Rao had spotted the monkey, which had entered his residence apparently in search of food and beat it with a stick and hung it from a tree with the help of his friend.

In the video of the incident, Rao could also be seen instructing his pet dogs to bite the monkey, which was fighting for its life.

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 22:An accused in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act jumped into the sea on Wednesday morning when he was taken for evidence collection at Kasaba in Kasargode district, police said.

Accused Mahesh was arrested following a complaint by his neighbour on Tuesday evening.

The police said that they took the accused to the seashore to collect evidence in the case when Mahesh jumped into the sea. Two police officials too jumped in after him to catch hold of him but could not locate Mahesh.

Later, swimmers were deployed to try and locate the missing man.

Belagavi, Jan 19: Miscreants have murdered a couple and their son at Dodwad Village, about 50 km from here, in the wee hours on Sunday.

The victims were identified as Shvananda Basavanthappa Andanashetty, his wife Shanthavva and their son Vinod.

Senior Police officials visited the spot and a case was registered at Dodwad Police Station.
