I am open to working with Rekha: Big B at Shamitabh’s trailer launch

January 7, 2015

Rekha Big BMumbai, Jan 7: At the trailer launch of his much anticipated film ‘Shamitabh’, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan said he will not rule out the possibility of working with the veteran actress Rekha in future films.

Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha are considered to be an all time popular on-screen pair in Bollywood and the two have starred together in films like ‘Silsila’, ‘Mr Natwarlal’, ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’.

The 72-year-old actor, who will be seen in a different avatar in R Balki’s ‘Shamitabh’, said the director wants to make a movie with him and Rekha.

“Balki keeps threatening me that he wants to design a film together... Let me see if someone has a story which is appropriate... then why not,” Bachchan said during the trailer launch of the film here.

‘Shamitabh’ also stars Rekha and there were speculations about the pair coming together on the screen but Bachchan has cleared the air saying the actress does not share any scene with him in the film.

“We actually don’t come together; it is a part of a sequence. When people will watch the film they will understand. It is always nice to have such great luminaries in the film,” he said.

‘Shamitabh’ is Balki and Bachchan’s third collaboration after ‘Cheeni Kum’ and ‘Paa’. The film also has Tamil movie star Dhanush and will mark the debut of Akshara Haasan, who is the younger daughter of actor Kamal Haasan and Sarika.

When asked about the unique title of the film, Balki said, “A title like Dhamitabh or Hamitabh would have sound very weird so that’s why this unique title.”

Dhanush, who made his Bollywood debut in 2013 with ‘Raanjhanaa’, said he feels blessed to work with Bachchan.

“It was a great experience just watching him,” he said.

Akshara thanked Balki for showing confidence in her and casting her in the film alongside Dhanush and Bachchan.

“I was very scared to work with Mr. Bachchan and Dhanush but they both made me comfortable.”

‘Shamitabh’ will hit theatres on February 6.

Mumbai, May 30: Actor Vaani Kapoor on Saturday said she will go on a virtual date with five people as part of an initiative to raise money for daily wage earners, who have been affected due to the nationwide lockdown implemented to rein in coronavirus.

Vaani has teamed up with actor Arjun Kapoor's sister Anshula Kapoor’s online fundraising platform, Fankind, to raise funds for daily wage workers.

Vaani and Fankind have come together to provide five of her fans a chance to go on a virtual date with her - by donating to provide food to daily wage workers.

“As human beings, we will need to come forward and support as many people as possible in need due to the coronavirus pandemic in our country. I’m doing my bit to support the daily wage earners of our country and their families who are in dire situations given the lockdown.

“My activity, in which five lucky winners can have a virtual date with me, will see us collect funds to help feed them and their families across the country," Vaani said in a statement.

Earlier, Arjun too supported the initiative to help daily wage earners.

According to the press release, the funds will go to GiveIndia, a non-profit organisation, which will provide hot cooked meals to wage earners and their families. Each meal costs Rs 30 and will be delivered in various areas of Maharashtra, Bangalore, and Chennai.

A.T.E. Chandra Foundation has also come on board and will be adding 25 percent of the total donation value collected as a matching amount, thereby multiplying the impact, the release said.

New Delhi, April 6: Acknowledging on being scared and talking of not seeing his family for three weeks, actor Salman Khan along with nephew Nirvaan on Sunday shared their lockdown experience in a video message.

The 54-year-old star, without disclosing where the actor actually is, shared a video message on Twitter along with his brother Sohail Khan's son, Nirvaan.

Salman began the one-minute and 26-seconds long video, by saying: "We came here for a few days and now we're stuck and scared"

The 'Bharat' actor then introduced Nirvaan and asked him "How long has it been since you saw your father?", to which Nirvaan replied, "It must have been three weeks."

"I have not seen my father for three weeks. We are here and he is alone at home," Salman added.

The 'Sultan' actor then asks the boy: "You remember the film dialogue, 'the one who got scared, died.' It does not apply here in this situation. We are scared and bravely we admit that we are scared. Please don't be brave in this situation."

Nirvaan also further requested everybody to stay safe and maintain social-distance.

"I think it's better for everyone to stay home, avoid contact and I think the longer we stay indoors the faster this ends," he added.

The 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' star concluded the video by saying: "The one who got afraid saved himself and lives of others around him. Moral of the story, 'We're all scared'."

Urging people to take the government's advisory of self-isolation seriously amid the rising cases of coronavirus in the country, the megastar had earlier shared a video message for fans.

The singer shared the news in the 14th edition of her “Quarantine Diary” on Instagram TV.

“Took a test the other day and I found out that I have the antibodies. So tomorrow I’m just going to go for a long drive in the car, and I’m gonna roll down the window and I’m gonna breathe in the COVID-19 air. Yup. I hope the sun is shining,” Madonna said.

According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), US, antibody tests are used to determine whether or not a person has been exposed to COVID-19 by finding proteins the body produces to fight the virus.

However, the CDC has yet to confirm if the possession of antibodies is equal to immunity.
