I was shown less on 'Bigg Boss': Natasa Stankovic

October 20, 2014

Mumbai, Oct 20: Serbian model-actress Natasa Stankovic, who has been evicted from 'Big Boss 8', says she was very active on the show but was not shown much in the episodes. Stankovic is the third contestant to have been eliminated from the controversial reality show, after Sukirti Kandpal and Deepshikha Nagpal. The 37-year-old beauty said people perceived her as passive and boring but she did a lot of fun on the show.

Natasa Stankovic"I am actually shocked when I got to know that my friends did not see me much on the show because I was always dancing, singing and having fun. In fact my energy was such that inmates had to tell me to pause.I don't know why I was shown less in the episodes. People outside thought I was a quite person but that is not true.

Less visibility is most probably the reason why I got evicted," Natasa told PTI. Even though the Colors show's host, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was seen prompting Natasa to be more interactive, she feels she was doing her best but the language was a barrier as she could not speak Hindi properly. "He told me a couple of times and I did follow his advice. I made efforts but somehow the language was an obstacle between me and other housemates. When I wanted to give opinion on something, I struggled with the language and people said, 'you need time', so it went unheard," she said.

Natasa adds she is happy that she stayed away from fights and controversies in the house. "I could never relate to the fights happening in the house. I like to stay away from the negative energy hence I did not come in limelight when any fight happened, except during the first task where Karishma put mirchi (red chilli powder) on my face. After she apologised to me, I was fine because I don't hold grudges," she said.

Natasa calls Sushant Divgikar her closest person in the house and feels he was one of the most positive people on the show. "Sushant and I share many things, our love for dancing and singing and we both love positivity. I got along with him. We are similar people," she said.

Asked who has the maximum chances of winning the show, She said, "Praneet (Bhat) deserves to win the game. He has a nice personality. He is not faking and at the same time he is playing the game, so I feel he is doing good," Natasa said.

The actor thanked the people for listening to the guidelines and understanding the gravity of this situation amid the 21-day government-imposed lockdown in view of coronavirus outbreak. The tweet by 'Dabangg' actor came soon after the conclusion of Shab-e-Barat.

Shab-e-Barat is observed as a day of forgiveness or atonement in Islam and leads to congregations at graveyards and religious places.

The 54-year-old actor took to Twitter and wrote, "Wah! Thank u for listening n understanding the gravity of this situation the country is in. God bless n protect each n every 1.

Over the past few days, appeals were made to the Muslim community from several quarters to not venture out of their houses to pray on Shab-e-Barat in view of the COVID-19 lockdown.

Mumbai, Jul 25: Movie theatres have been shuttered for months due to the coronavirus pandemic in the country, but the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has now recommended that the Union Home Ministry allow cinema halls to reopen in August.

I&B Secretary Amit Khare indicated this at a close-door industry interaction with the CII Media Committee on Friday. He said Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla at the Home Ministry would take the final call.

Khare said that he has recommended that cinema halls may be allowed to reopen all over India as early as August 1, or at the latest, around August 31.

The formula suggested is that alternate seats in the first row and then the next row be kept vacant, and proceeding in this fashion throughout.

Khare said that his ministry's recommendation takes into consideration the two metre social distancing norm, but tweaks it gently to two yards instead. The Home Ministry, however, still has to revert on the recommendation.

Cinema owners, present in the interaction, however, pushed back and said this formula is unwise and merely running films at 25% auditorium capacity is worse than keeping the cinemas shut.

The attendees at the meet included media CEOs like N.P. Singh of Sony, Sam Balsara (Madison), Megha Tata, (Discovery), Gaurav Gandhi (Amazon Prime), Manish Maheshwari (Twitter), S. Sivakumar (Bennett Coleman and Co Ltd), and K Madhavan, Star & Disney, and also Chairman, CII Media Committee.

The OTT platforms present, including Gandhi of Amazon Prime, did not push back. Some Bollywood producers, notably those of Amitabh Bachchan's Gulabo Sitabo, have posted their movies on OTT, rather than live out the lockdown uncertainty.
