New Delhi, Aug 11: Indian pacer Irfan Pathan has often been on the radar of trolls on social media. Be it for posting a photograph with wife Safa Baig or celebrating Raksha Bandhan, the Baroda cricketer has received backlash from various sections of society.

However, Pathan, one of India's finest all-rounders, believes there's no point responding to the 'so-called haters' as there's no appeasing them all.

In a recent interview, the southpaw shared how he believes in managing social media accounts properly, and not getting carried away with the reactions of the people.

"I always believe there are lots of friends and fans who love and respect me and that is the most important thing for me. There are always going to be haters. There are always going to be some people who will say negative about you. And my reaction is not for them. I don't even tag them when I reply to them because I don't want to give anything to them. I will always react with love," said Pathan.

"I always manage social media very carefully. You need to be careful because there are a lot of fake accounts. Using those fake accounts, there are lots of people who say things which they cannot say from their own profile. And yes, there are people with real accounts as well and they express their opinions in terms of talking negative about certain things'' he added.

The left-armer further insisted that he always tries to put forward his stance with dignity, ensuring he doesn't go overboard.

"I always make sure I keep my dignity and I don't go overboard. I don't use foul language. I make sure if I want to send my message across, I do it with dignity and with strong words I do it. I don't go there and clarify all the times because it's not required. If you know you are doing the right thing, you do what you believe in and as well as I am happy, I am not too bothered about it," said the Indian all-rounder.

The 32-year-old asserted that he always focuses on controlling things which can be controlled by him like his reaction to social media trolls.

"I just read things and even before I come out with a reaction, I control myself. I always make sure I control what I can control rather than controlling what people are saying and what they are not saying," he said.

For the unversed, Pathan was trolled this week for sharing a snap of himself celebrating 'Rakshabandhan'.

The incident came weeks after Pathan was severely slammed on social media for sharing a snap with his wife Safa Baig. The seamer was at the receiving end with his fans terming the photograph as 'un-Islamic'.

Feb 13: Veteran India batsman Suresh Raina feels Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the best captain India ever had.

Raina and Dhoni play for the same IPL franchise -- the Chennai Super Kings --, which is also led by the latter.

"I think we have the best captain who has changed the Indian team like anything. Now we have that same aura in our dressing room," Raina said on 'The Super Kings show' on Star Sports Tamil.

The 38-year-old Dhoni has retired from Test cricket but his future in the limited overs formats is a subject of intense speculation.

The two-time World Cup-winning former captain took a break from cricket after India's exit from the 2019 World Cup in England. He is set to be back in action at the IPL, where he will captain the CSK, starting March 23.

With three restricted stands at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai finally being reopened, Raina urged the fans to fill the venue in every CSK home game.

"We have all the seats available. Hopefully, we'll have more fans now so that there is it will be more energy on the field," the 33-year-old Raina, a former India batsman, said.

Raina, who last played for India in 2018, also expressed his excitement about the prospect of playing with CSK's latest acquisitions.

"This year we have a lot of new talent in our team. Piyush (Chawla) is there, then we have Hazelwood, Sam Curran, Sai Kishore from Tamil Nadu, he has been bowling really well for them. So, I think we have a lot of mixture of youngsters and seniors."

New Delhi, May 14: Mahendra Singh Dhoni is an unconventional and unique leader, whose biggest strength is his incredible gut feeling, says his Chennai Super Kings teammate Faf du Plessis.

The former South Africa skipper has spent considerable time with Dhoni after joining the Indian Premier League (IPL) side in 2011 and has been an integral part of its successful journey.

"He reads the others player really well and he uses that to make instinctive decisions on the field. He's got an incredible gut feeling on the game and I think that's his biggest strength," du Plessis said in a Facebook live session with Bangladesh ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal.

The 35-year-old said Dhoni changed his perception of how a captain should be.

"It was amazing for me to see how different M S was as a captain. I used to think a captain must speak all the time in team meetings etc but M S was completely different.

"He doesn't believe a lot in team meetings. He's a very instinctive captain he's got such a good cricket brain that he relies on it to make the right decisions on the field," du Plessis said of former India skipper.

Dhoni last played for India in World Cup semifinal last year and was expected to be back to playing competitive cricket at now-postponed IPL.

Calling Dhoni the best finisher he has played with, Du Plessis said no one can emulate what the dasher from Ranchi can do with the bat.

"He's extremely calm. I haven't played with someone who is a better finisher than him. It's just remarkable to watch him from the side of the field."

"If someone else tries to do it like him they won't be able to. He's just so unique like he times the ball so late he's got an incredible calmness. He knows his game and he picks a bowler and goes for it."

Du Plessis said that playing for CSK alongside Dhoni and under the guidance head coach Stephen Fleming has taught him a lot about leadership.

"I'm lucky to have started my journey there at CSK because I have really learned a lot from a leadership point of view. I tried to learn as much as possible from Dhoni and Stephen Fleming because both are great captains."

Indore, Jan 8: Skipper Virat Kohli struck an unbeaten 30 as India beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the second Twenty20 international in Indore on Tuesday.

The hosts rode a 71-run opening stand between KL Rahul, who hit 45, and Shikhar Dhawan, who made 32, to chase down their target of 143 in 17.3 overs and take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after the first match was rained off.

Leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga took the wickets of the Indian openers but Shreyas Iyer, who scored 34 before falling to paceman Lahiru Kumara, and Kohli, who hit the winning six, got the team home.

The third match is on Friday in Pune.
