Bengaluru, Jul 16: Special Investigation Team (SIT) appointed to investigate into multi-crore IMA Fraud released Congress rebel MLA Roshan Baig on Tuesday after 12 hours of detention and questioning.
The Congress MLA and former minister was taken into custody at Kempegowda International Airport last night while trying to fly to Pune by a chartered flight.
However, SIT has asked him to appear on July 19 for further questioning in connection with the case.
Speaking to newsmen immediately after coming out of the SIT office, Baig said that “I had received notice from SIT to appear on July 15 but had sought time till July 25 due to various reasons including my health, it was denied and have been asked to appear on July 19. I was to fly to Pune yesterday but was detained and I have replied their questions and will appear again on July 19. There is no restriction for movement and I can go anywhere. However, I don’t have any immediate plan to leave the State Capital.”
My detention by the SIT was nothing but a political conspiracy, he added.
