Kuwait City, Jun 18: Indian Muslim Association (IMA) under the patronage of the Grand Mosque and Ministry of Awqaf & Islamic Affairs organized a public discourse on Al-Isra Wal Mi’raj’ at Masjid Yousef Al Adsani, Kuwait City. The function started after the Isha prayers with the recitation of Holy Qur’an followed by its translation in Urdu language by Hafiz Owais.

The Israa and M’iraj refers to, two parts of a miraculous journey that Prophet Muhammad (SAS) took in one night, travelling first from Makkah to Jerusalem and then an ascension to the heavens. Israa is an Arabic word referring to Prophet Muhammad's (SAS) miraculous night journey from Makkah to Jerusalem - specifically, to the site of al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem - as referred in Surah Al-Israa in the Quran. It is was followed by the M’iraj, his ascension to heaven. According to some of the Hadith scholars this journey is taken place just over a year before Prophet Muhammad migrated from Makkah to Madina, on the 27th of Rajab.

Hafiz Hafeez-ur-rahman, a noted Islamic preacher and scholar in his key note address said that the Israa & M’iraj has been mentioned in two separate chapters of Quran. He said that it is important for the community of the Prophet to practice the tradition of seeking knowledge which was the reason for their success during the early days of Islam.

Mr. Abdul QadirUmeri, a noted Islamic scholar delivered a speech on the subject of the Journey of Al-IsraWalM’iraj’. He quoted the ayah 17:1 of the Holy Quran "Most glorified is the One who summoned His servant (Muhammad PBUH) during the night, from the Sacred Mosque to the farthest place of prostration, whose surrounding we have blessed, in order to show him from our signs. He is the Hearer, the Seer."

He said this journey reminds us that Allah is capable of doing anything and is not bound by physical and material laws. He said that the Prophet Muhammad (SAS) is the only one who is worth following as he led all the prophets during the prayer on course of this journey. He also advised Muslims to be steadfast in their prayers as this was a gift of Allah to the prophet during this journey.

Shaikh Abdul latheef Al Munaifi, host nation Guest was the guest of honor.Mr. Khaleelullah Khan former president IMA presided over the function and also delivered concluding remarks. The Program was convened by Mr. Umar Falahi. The function was attended by several hundred men & women. Dinner was arranged at the end of the programme.
