Bengaluru, Aug 8: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) recovered 5,880 gold-plated copper biscuits from a multi-storey residential apartment on Richmond Road belonging to Mohammed Mansoor Khan, founder of the I Monetary Advisory group of companies, which is embroiled in a multi-crore investment scam.

According to SIT officials, which is probing the scam, the biscuits were hidden near Khan’s swimming pool on the sixth floor of the seven-storey apartment.

According to an official, each biscuit weighs a little over 50 grams, brining the total weight of the haul to around 300 kg.

“They had been hidden by one of the IMA directors, Nizamuddin, on Khan’s instructions,” said an SIT official.

Khan would display the biscuits on the wall of one of his showrooms. The police say he would show them to potential investors to lure them into putting money into IMA.

“A day before Khan fled the country, Nizamuddin carried the biscuits to the Richmond Road apartment and hid them. He was instructed to do so by Khan,” said the police.

The SIT have taken Waseem, an IMA director who was in charge of maintaining the apartment, into custody for further questioning.

Bengaluru, Jul 8: In a setback to the State government, the Karnataka High Court on Wednesday stayed the initial ban and the subsequent restrictions imposed on schools against conducting online classes from pre-primary to Class X.

Prima facie the ban and embargo imposed on online education violate Articles 21 and 21A of the Constitutionon the fundamental right to education, the Court said.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka and Justice Nataraj Rangaswamy passed the interim order staying the operation of Government Orders issued on June 15 and June 27 respectively.

The Bench passed the interim order on the petitions filed by parents of children and several educational institutions questioning the legality of the ban and the restrictions imposed.

However, the Bench made it clear that this order should not be construed that the schools have right to make online education compulsory and can charge fee for offering online education. Also, the schools should not deprive students, who cannot opt for online education, the lost education when the schools reopen on regular basis.

Davanagere, Jan 9: Residents of SVR colony of Channagiri Taluq here on Thursday built a temple in the memory of a male monkey, who died here 'unexpectedly'.

A group of monkeys entered the SVR colony around three months back. The monkeys have never disturbed anybody in the area and they used to play with children living in the colony.

Locals said that the monkeys are very obedient to them.

Unfortunately, one of the monkeys died suddenly on Wednesday, causing distress among people who were very fond of him.

Showing their love for the deceased monkey, locals performed his final rite according to Hindu tradition.

Later, the residents approached the president of the village Panchayat to allot funds to build a temple in the monkey's memory.

The construction of the temple has already begun in the area at the same place where the monkey's funeral was conducted.
