Include all sections in BJP membership drive: PM

New Delhi, Nov 1: BJP today launched a membership drive amid Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pitch for making it all inclusive so that every section of the society feels that their "flower" is represented in this "wonderful bouquet" of diversity.modi

Becoming the first person to get the party's membership in the renewed drive, Modi said the BJP workers should toil hard like during an election campaign and make it an inspirational one across the globe.

"The era of mass agitation for politics seems over... Now people expect parties to play significant role in public life," he said at a function organised at the BJP headquarters here to launch the drive.

Noting that India is full of diversity, Modi said BJP should reflect it and "every section of the society should feel that their 'flower' is represented in this wonderful bouquet (of BJP)."

He said that getting membership of BJP earlier was difficult but it has become easier now due to the digital revolution adopted by the party.

He told the party cadres not to bother about other parties, contending that BJP has already taken a big lead.

"Put your everything into it... Like you do during an election campaign... It (the drive) should become an inspiration for parties across the world," the Prime Minister told the BJP cadres.

New Delhi, Aug 7: India's COVID-19 cases tally crossed 20 lakh mark with the highest single-day spike of 62,538 cases on Friday, said Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The COVID-19 tally rises to 20,27,075 including 6,07,384 active cases, 13,78,106 cured/discharged/migrated and 41,585 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health.

Maharashtra with 1,46,268 active cases and 3,05,521 cured and discharged patients continues to be the worst affected. The state has also reported 16,476 deaths due to the infection.

Tamil Nadu has 54,184 active cases while 2,14,815 patients have been discharged after treatment in the state. 4,461 deaths have been reported due to COVID-19 in the state.

Andhra Pradesh with 80,426 active cases is the third on the list. There are 1,04,354 cured and discharged patients and 1,681 deaths reported from the state.

Delhi now has 10,072 active cases and 1,26,116 cured and discharged patients. 4,044 people have lost their lives due to the disease in the Union Territory so far.

New Delhi, June 21: India today recorded the highest single-day spike in infections so far with 15,413 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. The total number of positive cases in India touched 4.11 lakh on Sunday.

As per the Ministry of Health data, the total number of coronavirus cases stands at 4,10,461 cases which include 1,69,451 active cases, 2,27,756 recovered/migrated cases, and 13,254 deaths as per the Ministry of Health data.

With 1,28,205 confirmed cases of COVID-19 so far, Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state in the country, followed by Tamil Nadu with 56,845 and Delhi 56,746. 

Delhi reported its highest single-day increase of 3,630 new coronavirus cases. With this, the state’s tally rose to 56,746. The toll rose to 2,112 with 77 deaths. As many as 7,725 people recovered, taking the total recoveries to 31,294.

Jaipur, Mar 29: A batch of 275 Indians evacuated from coronavirus-hit Iran arrived at the Jodhpur airport on Sunday morning, an official said.

He said a preliminary screening of the passengers was conducted at the airport and thereafter, they were shifted to the Army Wellness Facility set up at the Jodhpur Military Station.

Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Rohit Kumar Singh said of the 275 passengers, there were 133 women and 142 men, including two infants and four children.
