India Forum Jubail (IFJ) conducts blood donation camp

Jubail, Jan 12: India Forum Jubail (IFJ), a community service organization based in Al Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia conducted its second yearly blood donation camp on Saturday, 11th Janaury 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Petrokemya Beach Camp in coordination with Jubail General Hospital.

A large number of NRIs participated in the camp .

The programme was aimed at spreading greater awareness about the importance of blood donation as well as helping prevent blood shortage in the region.

IFJ was established in 2005 by a group of NRIs with the aim of building a strong and vibrant community of Indians in Saudi Arabia by promoting educational, cultural, and social and business aspirations of Indian Nationals residing in Jubail regardless of caste, color, creed, race or religion.

Mangalore based Shameer Ahmed Kudroli was the chief coordinator of the event. He called the ceremony to order and welcomed the guests, hospital representatives and blood donors. This is the third time in Jubail region the blood donation drive has been conducted under the leadership of Shameer as he organised similar event earlier for Toastmasters fraternity and general public.

An informative presentation on blood donation was also given by Dr Hamed El Torakey, the company doctor at GAS. He shared some touching examples where the blood donation had come to the rescue of needy people. He pleaded people to donate blood periodically as blood donation in fact reinvigorated people instead of weakening people as ignorantly perceived by many. He thanked Shameer and his IFJ team for organizing the event professionally.

The prime sponsor for the event was GAS Company, the General Manager-Operations Mr. Nawaf Al Anazi, a symposium highlighting the importance of donating blood and gave brief inputs of the benefits of blood donation, he appreciated and urged the participants to spread greater awareness about the importance of blood donation to serve the community.

The community members willingly donated the blood and showed example to the society. Hospital staff was amazed to see the enthusiasm of the community and donors were more than the expected quota of the hospital for single day. Prior the donation BP, sugar level and many check up were done by the hospital staff.

The blood donors and guests and enthusiasts who had gathered on the occasion appreciated the great work done by the IFJ Excom. Breakfast, sumptuous lunch and delicious evening refreshment were served to all participants. The donors will be issued donor certificates along with blood group authentication by the hospital.

The blood donation camp was professionally assisted by medicos of Jubail General Hospital. Forum President Habib Sheikh offered the plaque to hospital staff as a token of appreciation, IFJ Excom honored the participants with certificates in the venue.

Indian Social Forum, Eastern Province Central Committee, Saudi Arabia organized Republic Day program at AlRyan Policlinic Restaurant Auditorium, Dammam on 25th January 2020.

Abdul Waris, Former Chairman of Indian International School Dammam Inaugurated the program.

Dubai, Aug 7: ‘Nama Tuluve’ Purushotham Salian, a staunch stalwart who always supported humanity and a strong pillar for Tuluvas in Dubai, passed away August, 4 at Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain. He was suffering from cancer and was admitted to Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain some time ago. He was on the last stage of illness which was not detected earlier.

His funeral last rites were conducted on Thursday August 7 at Jebel Ali cemetery in Hindu rites with a few of his family members present. Due to Covid pandemic, neither his body was able to be flown back to hometown nor could his two children come down to attend the funeral. However, it was said that his wish was to be cremated here in Dubai which unknowingly sometime back he whispered to one of his friends.

Purushotham had few years ago, survived a heart attack and fought back his life, though it had a minor paralytic effect on him. Even though, till recently he used to do his day-to-day work normally. He was a hard working personality and owned a readymade garment shop in Ajman and Dubai mostly taking care of clients with requirement of uniforms and coveralls. His dedication towards work was always appreciated by his clients who used to get their things delivered on time always.

He was never a publicity person and was helping the poor and needy in whatever ways he could silently. He strongly supported the community and was associated with Nama Tuluveru and Billawa community with commitment. He used to voluntarily come forward for the ground work of various functions of the community and used to be there until it was done perfectly.
