Jammu, Jan 1: India will launch a strong protest with Pakistan over fresh ceasefire violations at the International Border here that has left a BSF jawan dead and another injured.pak copy

"They (Pakistan) have violated the norms on international border. We are going to lodge strong protest to them (over ceasefire violation)," Inspector General of Border Security Force (BSF) Rakesh Sharma told reporters here.

Home Minister Rajanth Singh said Pakistan should desist from such violations and officials of both the countries have been in touch over the issue.

"Pakistan should not do this. Diplomats of both the countries remain in constant touch," Singh said, adding normalcy will return soon.

Sharma said that about 50-60 terrorists are waiting to sneak into the Indian side in Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan.

"There are about 50-60 terrorists at the launch pads on the other side waiting at the international border," he said adding that security measures have been intensified on the Indian side to check any untoward incident.

Pakistani Rangers violated ceasefire again today by firing on 13 border outposts in Samba sector, drawing retaliation from BSF.

The violation comes after four Pakistani Rangers were yesterday killed in BSF's strong retaliation after a jawan of the force lost his life in heavy firing from the other side on a patrol along the International Border in Samba district.

"Pakistani rangers resorted to firing on 12 to 13 BoPs along the IB in Samba sector overnight," Sharma said.

"The BSF also retaliated, resulting in exchanges which continued till 0600 hours today," the IG said.

"There was no causality or injury to anyone in the firing today," he said.

Today's firing by Pakistan was the third ceasefire violation along the IB in the past three days and seventh in last eight days.

In yesterday's incident, one BSF jawan was killed and another injured in firing by Pakistan on Regal post in Samba.

BSF had retaliated effectively to the Pakistani firing and four Pakistani rangers were killed (opposite to Regal post) along the IB in the Samba sector, Sharma had said.

As Pakistani Rangers suffered casualties, they had waved white flags asking BSF to stop the firing so that they can lift the bodies of their dead men, he had said.

Honouring their request, BSF had stopped the firing and allowed them to come to the border line and lift the bodies.

Pakistan had yesterday summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner in Islamabad alleging that India had violated the ceasefire.

New Delhi, Jun 1: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Monday asked airlines to allot seats in flights in such a manner that middle seats are kept vacant to the extent possible.

However, if a flyer has been allotted the middle seat due to a high passenger load "then additional protective equipment like the wrap-around gown of the Ministry of Textile approved standards" must be provided to that passenger in addition to three-layered face mask and face shield, said the DGCA order, which has been accessed by news agency.

India resumed its domestic passenger flights from May 25 after a gap of two months due to the coronavirus-triggered lockdown. International commercial passenger flights continue to remain suspended in the country.

New Delhi, Feb 16: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal was on Sunday sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Delhi for the third time in a row at Ramlila Maidan here, after his party registered a massive victory in the recently concluded Delhi Assembly polls.

Kejriwal was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal.

The sprawling Ramlila Maidan reverberated with sounds of thousands of people cheering for the AAP leader.

Kejriwal who received a hero's welcome here had extended an invitation to the people of Delhi urging them to attend the swearing-in ceremony to witness "the son of Delhi" taking oath today.

The AAP nearly repeated its 2015 performance in the elections, sweeping the Assembly polls winning 62 seats in the 70-member Assembly, in the face of a high-voltage campaign by the BJP, which fielded a battery of Union Ministers and Chief Ministers in its electioneering spearheaded by Home Minister Amit Shah.

New Delhi, Feb 6: Unemployment rate in the country as per a new survey was 6.1 per cent in 2017-18, the government informed Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

Minister of State for Labour Santosh Gangwar said the government is conducting a new Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) with new parameters and bigger sample size, and its results cannot be compared with previous surveys in this regard.

"As per the new Periodic Labour Force Survey being conducted by the government, the labour force participation is 36.9 per cent and the rate of unemployment for 2017-18 is 6.1 per cent," he said.

Replying to supplementaries during the Question Hour, the minister said the report of this survey is very different than the surveys conducted in previous years.

This survey is not comparable to previous surveys, he said, adding it was an attempt to provide authentic data with the new survey conducted through the Ministry of Statistics.

"We are focusing on infrastructure development and ease of doing business and India's position in the world has improved. India has improved its position to 63rd rank now in 2019 against 196 in previous years," he said.

"Our government is very conscious of creating employment opportunities and is running such programme which generates employment.

"The way our government is functioning, employment opportunities are being created and the youths are getting jobs also," the minister said.

Gangwar said the government has stopped the previous survey as the sample size was low and an attempt is being made to improve the data by adding various parameters and provide more authentic data.

The minister said it will take time for collection of data as households have to be visited on the ground for authentic data collection in rural areas also.
